We only have few selection in town for the night club and this is one of them. It’s a gay friendly place but anyone can enjoy music and dancing.

I always have a great time when I come here. There’s so many different areas to go depending on what you feel like. You can watch the crowd of people from the bar upstairs and play pool or dance away in 2 of the dance areas. Theres plenty of room to just sit and chill and even an outside area as well. love this place.

The Max is a safe place that allows for anyone that is 21 and over to have a great time. Hailed as ‘The Best Gay Bar in the US’ it is difficult not to believe that when you visit. The doorman is nice as are the bartenders. If you are LGBT or if you are not, you are going to have a great night. This place is just right for out of towners and locals alike. The dancing is just like any club scene and most folks will leave you alone if you wish them to. The HipHop room jams out old school cuts from the time when rap wasn’t all autotuned Hotline bling shit. It is my favorite place in the building. Saturdays is ‘Straight Night’ if you are concerned at all about it being too gay. It is not going to make you something you don’t feel. Just go and have a good time and watch the night turn into morning

Now let me start off by saying I’m not a clubber, a bar hopper, or a party go-er. That being said The Max is awesome. The drinks are very overpriced and the bartenders(depending which one you get) can be very rude or they’ll just downright ignore you. I’ve only been here once and it was for a Halloween party. There was a costume contest and dancing and just all around good times. I completely enjoyed myself. I know the cover was like $ 10 – 20 per person since it was an event, but well worth it. Oh and this is silly to even say but yes you’re welcome here: gay, straight, bi, etc doesn’t matter. My husband and I got hit on by both sexes and if you don’t swing that way I would just suggest saying you’re flattered but no thank you. Relax and enjoy the music and I HIGHLY suggest the Halloween dance party they throw every year.

came here last night with some coworkers…$ 5 cover, which isn’t bad, loud music smoke effects, people having what appears to be a great time… sat outside, Zach was our waiter, he was friendly and attentive… price for drink seems about right, my only quibble is I’d have liked a bigger glass lol… I’d totally come back, because gay or straight, this is a good place to go and have a fun time…

Surprisingly large, well spread out«gay» bar. Gay in quotation marks because this place is probably 50⁄50 straight/gay on the weekends, but everyone is at least gay comfortable. I like that there are 3 distinct areas, an EDM main dance floor, a hip hop side area, and an upstairs lounge with their own mix of stuff, huge outdoor patio where smoking is okay, large, clean restrooms, plenty of places to sit and interesting people to meet. 4 Stars because the bartenders are a little inexperienced and slow as others have mentioned, but a shockingly good gay bar for a small town, better than the average club even in a bigger city for sure.

An Omaha staple for great people, music, and dancing! For the most part, Max has everything you’d want in a dance club on a Saturday which the gay boys endearingly call«strait night». I love special events like Gay Idol, Halloween, and Drag competitions. Sunday night drag shows are so much fun! At the Max you can sit and hang in the main bar, play pool upstairs, enjoy hip hop hits in one dance club, chill out on the fabulous outside patio, or dance hard core to the techno hits in the main room. The lights and systems are first class. I give Max a 4 rating for two reasons. 1) In ten years, I’ve encountered the occasional snooty bartender. 2) If there was one thing I could change about the Max it would be their policy to allow drinks on the dance floor. They serve in glasses and those glasses get broken all over the floor. I’ve hit wet spots on the dance floor and slid around on occasion. I sprained my ankle on a wet spot a couple years ago which led to 8 months of physical therapy and am living with ongoing ankle discomfort the doctors say will follow me forever as the typical result of the type of injury I incurred. I don’t want to end on a negative note because the Max IS a go to for a night out in Omaha!

I was once asked what I would change if I were to buy the Max. My answer was the name on the employees payroll checks. Hats off Stosh and Bruce.

The best Gay bar in America is what many publications say, but it is just one of the best bars in America. With many of the patrons being female and male/female couples it is hard to say you are in a gay bar, but if you are gay and need to makeout with your man, no one cares. In fact at the upstairs bar we heard two men talking and one asked, is this a gay bar? With the shirtless men displayed on the big screens it should be obvious, but again, you would be hard pressed to feel like you are in a gay bar. It can be difficult to find The Max as there are no large signs. Parking is on the street. Always a friendly smile as they check your ID. $ 5 cover is worth it. You need to visit this place to understand why it is so well reviewed. Big, clean, modern and multiple bars plus dance floor. No need to explain each bar, the outside area, the comfy bar chairs or anything else. All I can say is that each trip to Omaha for me in the past years has always included a trip to the Max. The bartenders are so friendly. Awesome!!!

The place big enough to have fun. Nice music but. ., the stuff with attitude if the bartender doesn’t like your face be prepared to wait 45 minutes to get his attention and have the priced drink Note: if u are latin stay home. Racist place !!!

If you want to dance in Omaha, this is the place. $ 5 cover before midnight, $ 10 after, on weekends, but it’s definitely worth the price for fantastic dance music that you can’t get elsewhere in Omaha. Saturday nights are straight nights, and are usually the best night to go, as The Max is bustling with activity. Drinks are a little pricy, but it’s one if the few places to go clubbing in Omaha, so it’s to be expected.

As a straight guy and a dj I appreciate good dance clubs… gay or not. Lifetime Omaha resident also. The Max may best the best club in the Midwest. Old Omaha club goers will remember the Stage Door… the Max is Stage Door on Steroids! The last time I was at a club this good was in Manhatten, New York. Limelight and Private Eyes come to mind. If you like to dance and enjoy great current music, then get to the Max. The side shows are always fun too ;) Best DJ’S around for techno style of music. Light show beyond words. I get served quickly but hard to pick up gals there because sometimes you need to take a second look ;) When it comes to Omaha ’ s best dance club, the Max is it… There isn’t a second place.

Umm, this is Omaha? I am in Omaha? That’s the first thing you will say when you walk into this place. The up sides: Hot men! Hot, not kinda hot but really hot. The Downsides: Most of the men are straight but open minded. Downside of this place: You have to fight the former girl friend of the guy you are leaving with lol/

I am straight and this place is still the best in Omaha to me! So as you walk in and pay your cover. It is really easy to be overwhelmed by the music, the people and the atmosphere. I heart the MAX. HUGE venue. The electronic and techno room with amazing lights and effects. There are tables to sit down and have a drink and a huge dance floor, bar and stages if you want to show off your dance moves. The hip hop/R&B has an upstairs lounge and exits to the main indoor lounge area. Front stage and nice dancefloor .This place has bars galore. Every room has a bar. The main lounge has a big screen showcasing some pretty hot bodies. Drool Unisex bathroom Max and Maxine bathrooms. But you must be in drag to go into Maxine I think. $ 5 dollar cover until 12pm and then it’s $ 10 I think. Also, it depends on the night.

So at 1AM, Thanksgiving more and after a handful of hours and a few more drinks my friend and her co workers headed to The Max. I’m not a fan of gay bars, but I thought my the heck not? SUPRISE? Probably the most fun I had all night. For Omaha and in comparison to all of the other low-key bars, it’s like stepping into another world. To be honest, it stacks up to places I’ve been to in NYC and LA. Nice bartenders and lots to explore. I’ll be back!

The best thing about this club is walking in at 6:00 p.m. and seeing a throng of drag queens bellied up to the bar! What an image :-) I was a fan of the cheap beer bust and the abundance of room in this place. There were two dance floors, a lounge, a large patio and an upstairs for chillin’ out. High marks for the bathroom too — nice and clean. As I am not a fan of clubs it really sucks that they charge a $ 10 cover so that you can cram onto a hot dance floor. Friends who arrived later had to pay this hefty price so that was a downer. I was surprised at the difference in attendance from 6:00 and 11:00. I just don’t think this place is $ 10 great… so show up early so you don’t have to pay. It seemed like a typical crowd for a gay dance club. Lots of guys, lots of straight girls, not a lot of room to move unless you want to slam into some stranger. But, if that’s the goal this is the place to be in Omaha. Typical is fine, but A-typical is more entertaining. Didn’t really see anybody that would blow my socks off… I would go back early for the beer bust :-)

I am not one to frequent Gay clubs, as I am a guy and not gay, but I asked the girl at the hotel for a place with music that went«boom boom boom» and she said I had to go to the Max and that there would be plenty of non-gay people and girls there. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great dance venue in Omaha. As a guy from the«big city» down I-80, I expected a lame night out. Compared to what I am used to, the cover was cheap($ 5), the drinks were reasonable(under $ 5), and the music was banging all night long. There were super hot girls and bachelorette parties going on. Unlike most bars, I got served before them! I didn’t have any«getting hit on by gay guys» issues. Unless you were prancing around without your shirt on that was not an issue and the people were friendly. The hip hop room was cool, the dance music room was awesome(superb lighting), and I had a great night. Just don’t count on a taxi to pick you up at the door at 2:00am when it closes. It is a small-ish town after all.

If you’re looking for a place to dance, this is it. There are two main dance floors, the hip-hop and the techno/house side. There are great lighting effects within the dance areas. There is also an upstairs area with pool tables. There are several bars throughout the place to get a drink. Unfortunately, they are often extremely busy. Unless you’re a hot looking young guy, I suggest either getting drinks at one of the bars by the dance floors or waiting for someone to serve you on the patio. Otherwise, you’ll probably have to wait a bit on drinks. The main bars are usually overcrowded. The drinks can get a bit pricey, and I’ve also noticed that the price sometimes depends on the bartender. Most of the time, I’ll have a few drinks at another bar and then go to The Max to dance… it’s not a place to sit around and drink beer. The courtyard outside is wonderful, with lots of places to sit. They even have a water fountain with rainbow lights in it. Most of the servers out here are awesome as well. This place is busy on Fridays, and completely full on Saturdays(often there is a line on Saturdays, so get there early). The Max is always packed for events such as Pride and Halloween, so if you’re going then, expect to wait outside in line for awhile. The cover is usually $ 3 on Fridays and $ 5 on Saturdays. There are also various nights(such as holidays and drag shows), where there is a cover. There is typically no cover on week nights. Also, if you get there before 9:00PM, you are usually allowed to stay inside and not have to pay cover. Never a dull moment at The Max!
