took about a hour to get food, server was nice but not attentive. got fish and chips and they were soggy and fish was mushy rather than flakey. haven’t been in a long time and probably won’t be back for a while. would have been nice if a manager would have shown a little concern or hustle but just wasn’t seeing it, it was busy but not crazy, we were seated within about 10 minutes with a party of 7, that was the quickest part of the visit.

Three stars fits the bill here. I was most recently here for a work event, with everyone being in the private room in back. They had wings, meatballs, chips, salsa, etc. out for us as appetizers to eat. A plus for the wings actually being pretty tasty. The room itself felt really warm to me. It felt as though since it is normally used as more of an ‘outdoor’ room in the warmer months, the temp settings, were cold or hot without much in between. They have an okay selection of local/micro beer, and can make your standard array of cocktails. There appeared to be only a single server helping our party, and while she was friendly and checking on everyone, a single server was definitely outmatched in keeping wandering guests drinks full. This is a decent bar overall. There isn’t one thing that I think makes it stand out from the crowd, but it is a decent place to grab a drink with friends after a long day.

I’m torn between 2 and 3 stars. The service almost always sucks. But the food is decent for the price considering its bar food(and has good Pinpoint deals). We always sit at the bar with great views of tvs. Tonight, in particular, the manager was super great in accommodating our annoying vegetarian needs and, again, we had a great vegetarian rueben and nachos with special touches. But Oh My God!!! The service is ridiculous. Like, comical. Two bartenders tending to, maybe, a dozen people(and drinks for the few other tables out there). Instead of checking in, offering a second drink, refilling our water, or anything, they play on their phones, count their tips, or watch tv. Thankfully we didn’t want a 2nd drink or I would’ve yelled probably. I could go on but I like the food and will probably come back, regretfully. There’s SOMUCH potential! That’s what’s frustrating. They simply lack in areas of *common sense service* and that frustrates me. But thank you again to the manager who made it a reaonably enjoyable experience for us. Now… let’s see how long it takes us to get our check. ;)

Great location & unique«former» mattress factory. Slow service but an excellent server. I split the chicken queso & it was plenty of food for two. Fairly typical bar food.

This review bums me out as I want this restaurant to be the Omaha staple they should be. But apparently, from reading other reviews, the quality of this place is on a downward slide. We went in on a Thursday, the first night of a rodeo. They were busy, as I expected, but not slammed. We were the only people at the bar besides a guy reading his paper at the end. We asked for menus and ordered drinks, no specials because it was an event night. A few minutes later, the bartender returned and apologized that he had given us the wrong menus, and gave us a new menu for tonight. We noticed a few items were priced higher. While I can understand the business justification, I disagree with upping a price but not offering additional quantity or quality. Not how I’d roll if I owned a restaurant. We ordered our food, onion ring app, Blue Jay Burger and pulled pork sandwich. After a little while, I asked if the bartender could check on the onion rings. He said everything would be coming out at the same time since they were so busy. I gave him the confused«eye scrunch, head cocked» look the comment deserved as it still wasn’t that busy. Order finally arrives and the onion rings are cold and greasy. Pulled pork sandwich was pretty good. Nothing special, but we didn’t expect it to be. My Blue Jay burger was the biggest disappointment. It was a dried out hockey puck with no flavor, not even salt and pepper. It was supposed to be served with blue cheese and caramelized onions. I’m convinced it wasn’t blue cheese, as it tasted nothing like it, and the onions were basically raw, no browning at all, zero. I’m not normally one to complain, but I couldn’t let that slide for a $ 10 burger. I told the bartender when he asked about our meal, and he was cool about it. Comp’d a couple of drinks. But clearly, the owner needs to get back into the restaurant and start keeping track of consistency and quality, especially during«busy» nights.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant. It was within walking distance and after a seven hour ride, it was nice to get out and stretch our legs. Found the location with no problem. But, First thing first, could not find the entrance. Had to choose between 3 doors. No clear entrance. Made it in and was immediately seated. Lots of tvs with different sports on. That was nice to have a large variety. Waitress came over took our drink order. She seemed very nice and was very quick. When she came back, I, as a vegetarian, asked about their options. I assume they aren’t asked this often as she seemed confused and didn’t really know what to recommend. I asked about a veggie burger and she said she thought they might have some left over? Eek, from what? I decided to chance it as I didn’t want to have a salad and that was my only other option. Glad I did. The burger was really good and the side of sweet potato fries were delicious. I did have to chase our waitress down to get some mayo and a refill of drinks. The place is too big to get their attention easily. My husband had the Reuben and he liked it. The décor was nice, the staff was friendly, the food was good, would I come back if we ever make it back to Omaha? Probably not, nothing was spectacular about the place, but it was fine and the food was good.

Good ambience but not impressed with the food. The Omaha burger tasted like something you would get at a McDonald’s but more expensive. Chips and salsa was gross. Who puts black beans and there’s salsa? Bar was dirty and a server walked through the dining room with a full bag of trash.

I was in Omaha for the first time for business. The hotel recommended this place. It was walking distance and in a cool area of town. I was seated quickly, the service was friendly and attentive. I ordered a rack of ribs and they were terrific and priced reasonably. The atmosphere is fun and I would recommend it.

The crowd of servers in uniform chatting at the door should have been my first clue. Second clue — when a guy shouted out«seat yourself» Waitress was actually good and attentive. BBQ sandwich was the worst I’ve ever tasted. Literally, sawdust like in bone dry texture and flavor. Highly — NOT recommended.

Wasn’t impressed at all. I had a burger that was average. For starters we got wontons that were greasy and lacked flavor. They advertise a bucket with some sort of punch w alcohol that I didn’t order but the table next to me did and it looked depressing. Doubt I’ll return. Service was ok

I love this place and always stop in when I am going to the Berkshire Hathaway’s shareholder meeting. It is a block from Centurylink Center and has great pub fare and an impressive beer selection. I love the nachos and burgers here. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and fun to talk with over a beverage. 5 stars.

Great Beer selection both draft and bottle and knowledgable staff. Brat Burger was good although craved seasoning and the beans were outstanding. Definitely will be back next time I’m in town.

The hamburger I had at an Applebee’s in Columbus, NE tasted better. That should tell you enough, but just in case here’s my full review. We went in on a Saturday night around 5 because we had a gift card. We knew it would be busy because of the last UNO hockey game, so we were lucky to only wait 4 minutes before a table was available. Service was good, but because they were busy and each server was likely maxed out, I felt«eating fast» was implied. Onward to the food. We started with 8 wings: 4BBQ and 4 Sweet and Spicy. They were ok and I personally thought they were over sauced(mind you, I’m a sauce person). Side note: If you want great wings, go try the charbuffed wings at Oscar’s. Next we ordered 3 burgers, 2 «Omaha» burgers and one with bacon and white cheddar(I forget the name). What a letdown they were. A bit dry, not flavorful, and even the fries tasted bland. We’re highly suspect that while they probably use quality meat– Omaha Steak, I believe– they DONOT season their meat which leaves for a not-so-flavorful burger. Personally, I think any bar that has a sucky burger is a good indicator for the rest of the food. Just my opinion. Probably won’t be back, unless we get gifted another gift card ;)

When ‘The Matt’ first opened up I was a frequent user. I would usually stop by right after work and spend my hard earned tips on some PBR and the Portabella burger. A lot of people complained and the name was changed from Burger to sandwich as it was a meat free option. Whatever. I liked the smoked gouda and the fries that go with it, sub for sweet potato for a mere $ 1. During CWS the parking lot gets pretty wild and the outdoor beer garden is a nice place to grab a beer. So far so good. Why a 1 star rating? The answer to that is Omaha Beer Week. That’s right. One of my favorite things during OBW is to go to spots that have special offerings. This year is no different. The offering that brought to ‘The Matt’ this time was the New Belgium Lips of Faith day. We arrived shortly after the start time and I ordered my beer. The waitress got argumentative with me and said it wasn’t going to be going on until 6pm. That is a load. It was clearly stated that the offerings begin at 4pm and the raffle(for which I gave 2 shits about) started at 6pm. I was there for beer. Good beer. After our discussion showing that they were, in fact, starting at 4 I got my bottle of Le Terroir. It is a great dry hopped sour ale. Wifle got a glass of wine. And some fries. We got our bill and that is what garners the rating. $ 26 for a single bottle of beer? I didn’t think to ask upon ordering it if I would need to take out a mortgage just to have a beer. The staff gave no heads up. No ‘Are you sure?’ No ‘that’s a $ 20+ bottle. No heads up. I had already drank the beer and couldn’t return it is the manner they would want. I will not go to another event here. Pro Tip: Ask the price first. Be prepared to know more than your server.

Was not impressed. Glad to see it keep busy though and I’ve seen it packed during the Series. Food is just so mediocre I don’t know if I would ever choose to come back here. Came here at lunch hour on a weekday and it was ridiculously packed with business people from downtown. Like no tables open packed. Our waitress was very nice though. They have some nice ones working here. We sat at a tall table which unfortunately was uncomfortable for a recent surgery-having me. I love the atmosphere and inside of this place. It is legit an old mattress factory. I ordered the Blue Jay Burger(Blue Jay, Creighton, get it?). It was a burger with blue cheese and carmelized onions on it. The burger had no flavor, the blue cheese was good, and the carmelized onions weren’t even carmelized. They were kind if liquidy. My mom ordered the flatbread and said it was delicious. My dad had the Maverick Burger(Maverick, UNO, get it?). He said it was OK but didn’t have any flavor to the meat, similar to mine. Fries were good but just typical. Overall I like the place and the location, helping to revamp NoDo, but I just don’t see how this place survives without the Series. It’s obviously popular with businesspeople downtown, though I’m unsure why.

Fun times after my cousin’s wedding! Craft beers = me gusta. Friendly bar staff, good at suggesting local brews for non-locals. This is something I really like to see at bars when I travel. I was not working for my cousin’s wedding(flew in for this), but it’s a big deal when I get to sample lots of beers and someone who knows them to steer me in the right direction for several different brews. I love when I’m traveling for festivals, etc to DJ and I get to experience local tastes and brews.

Outstanding service today for our party of 6 over lunch. The food was really tasty and everyone was happy with their meals. The nachos were exceptionally good with the pulled smoked chicken– nice touch– and not that garbage tasting grilled chicken chunks a lot of places put on chicken nachos. Parking lot is a bonus. The beer selection looked pretty good as well.

I’ve been to the Old Mat’ a lot. I recently went there for a work function in their reserved section upstairs. The food is always pretty good and it was no different a couple days ago. Nothing is really unique about the bar that makes me go wow. They have a huge selection of beers and liquors and you can always find something to drink. Their drink prices are on par with all of the other bars in the Old Market area, which means they are a tad high but I can’t knock them too much for that. Their normal, bar food is okay as I’ve had inconsistent experiences with it. Some times its pretty good, while other times its just okay. They used to have a ‘shuffle board’ game,(I think shuffle board), but they took it away, which is a bummer because it was one of the best parts about the place IMO. But all in all, I see myself walking into the Old Mat every few months or so and they don’t generally disappoint.

This place was a good fond, it has a good beer selection but what I really like are the Moscow Mules a nice cool kick on a hot day. We returned for the supper hour to have more mules and try some grindage. We settled for the spinach artichoke dip and the half rack of ribs. The bark on the ribs was very nice but the taste was even better I should have ordered the full rack. I also liked the beans with the sweet taste and the brisket and burger mixed in. I was not a big fan of the cole slaw but all is well with the dinner.
