This place was amazing! I say was because they are now closed which was extremely disappointing. This was by far my favorite sushi place in Omaha. It was fresh, authentic and not overpriced. I was surprised when they closed because they were always busy when I was there. We’ve lost a real diamond in the rough. I will miss it greatly.

First time I went, I saw some issues but it was nice that I tried again and noticed it had got much better. Nice attendant, fresh food. Ate a lot of sashimi for an affordable price. Watch out to not order too much, the combos come sometimes with many pieces of each thing.

Went here today before leaving for the airport. The sushi was mediocre, the service was the same. Our dining experience was plagued by flies. And when we told the server about it, he chuckled. I didn’t find it funny that flies were landing on our sushi, and we spent 90% of our meal swatting at them, or trying to kill them. No manager approached us to apologize, or to offer us anything for that, no one took anything off the bill. AVOIDTHISPLACE

Since moving to the Omaha area several folks have recommended that I give Wasabi a try… so I did! Besides the fact that for one low price I could chow down on unlimited sushi rolls until my hearts content, there’s nothing about this place that stands out. Let me rephrase… The excellent service received from the waitress stands out but nothing else.

Terrible service, warm sushi, no flavor, rude servers whenever they screw it up. Seriously bad. We’ve been here numerous times & it has been progressively worse. Avoid!

This place is so up and down in terms of service and quality of sushi. The only thing that remains constant is the yumminess of their appetizer dishes and their blatant attempts to fill you up on the aforementioned cheaper appetizers and the tons of rice, cream cheese and cucumbers that they stuff into every sushi roll. The past 2 times I’ve been here though the service was markedly better and we actually got to eat some fish!

My husband and I were in the mood for sushi yesterday and decided on Wasabi. We frequent this place at least three times a month and always have a great experience. Unfortunately yesterday was a whole different story. We should have known by the makeshift sign on the door of «hiring waiters and waitresses» that this was going to be a long night. We walk in, usually to be greeted and directed to an open table(it was 8:30 pm, there were many open tables, unfortunately none cleaned though). Upon entering, we get multiple looks from the sushi chefs behind the counter, even a look from the lady behind the register but no greeting, no «I’ll be right with you», nothing. After a few minutes of debating whether to just go to Blue up the road the lady from behind the register decided to move and tell one of the other girls in the kitchen to seat us. The girl from the kitchen slowly approaches us looks around at all the empty but dirty tables and begins to clean on of them. I have never seen someone wipe down a table so slowly before. Sure I appreciate her meticulousness but really, at this point find some sense of urgency. We quickly order only to be dissapointed by getting a roll, and tempura we did not order. Then we waited around for my sashimi. We waited and waited and finally just decided to put in another order. We were there for 1.5 hours and it never came. Perhaps we wouldn’t have waiting so long if the girl behind the register would serve her tables instead of texting on her phone most of the night. On a side note, the bathroom was filthy, a mound of used paper towels collecting in a pile on the floor from the overflowing tiny bathroom trash can. At $ 50 for the two of us tonight you would think that they could invest in a larger bathroom trash can? I’m sorry Wasabi. We used to love you. We won’t be coming back till you take down that makeshift sign, «hiring waiters and waitresses.» We love the food but 3 unhappy ladies as a hostess, waitress, cashier and busser is not going to cut it on a Friday night.

I actually wanted to give this place negative stars if I can. For 2 Saturdays in a row we went here for lunch and got one of the worst service from this place. From these last 2 visits we had, we waited an average of 45 mins for each of our orders. And to top it off, we were still missing part of our orders. Can’t really blame the wait staff, but they don’t seem to care either way. They’ll just give you the«oh its coming», then 30 mins later«they must have forgotten… do you still want that order?». Unless you have 3 hours to spare for lunch, don’t even bother to go to this place! VERYDISAPPOINTING!!!

I can’t really give them good rating. I’ve come here several times and it was okay at first. But my last experience was the service sucks. The server didn’t even greet you and when she serves the food, it was rude. She just put it on the table and left without saying anything. Next, they never remember your order. They either gave you too much or too little. We got a party of 7 and they gave us wayyyyyy too much sushi than we had ordered.(there was a sign said that we must finish our food, if not they will charge us). We tried our best to finish all the sushi but it was all rice, sooo stuffing! If you do not care about their service, give it a try. Food is okay with a buffet price. However, if service matters to you, don’t even bother to try because they WILL disappoint you.

Went here on a Friday night to have some sushi as «pre-game» to our 8p supper reservation. My boyfriend is a sushi newbie, only agreeing to eat it because it was my birthday(what a guy, right?!), so I ordered for him. My only real gripe about the entire experience: there was a couple with a small child behind us. While cute(«Daddy, I want the shrimp!»), the little brat would NOT. STOP. KICKING. THE. BOOTH. Try wielding chopsticks while your bum rattles with each kick. I’m just a Mom trying to enjoy some sushi on my birthday without MY kids, so it’s only natural that I have to deal with someone ELSE’S children, yes?! Not Wasabi’s fault, and not a huge disturbance overall, but it did slightly hinder my otherwise good experience here. Other reviews have said the service sucked, but we didn’t experience any issues. Our server was attentive, but a bit softspoken, maybe. I think she was disappointed when we ordered a la carte, but that didn’t change her quality of service. We ordered drinks and a few rolls, extra napkins and more chopsticks, so she received a good tip. She was at our beck and call the entire time. We will be back to try the all you can eat menu. Well, maybe just me. The man will probably go hunting for a cheeseburger…

Oh man, of all the restaurants that forced me to sign up for Unilocal,it breaks my heart that it is this one. At least it’ll provide an interesting narrative? Here we go. My roommate and I arrived at Wasabi around a quarter after 1. We recognized a group of fellow students already sitting down. We had a nice chat with one or two of them, when one of them brought up they just got to sitting down because the restaurant didn’t put down their reservation. They had to wait until the lunch rush died down and people started to leave. «How strange» I thought, not realizing that this was merely a sign of things to come. We didn’t have to wait long for our seats and brought out our papers to order. My roommate and I took eager turns at the paper, putting tallies by some of our favorite items. We gave the waiter our paper and happily wait for our food. And waited. And waited. We waited half an hour before our appetizers even came out. And it wasn’t even all of our appetizers! At this point, we both knew that it was going to take a while in order to get a 2nd order done, so in anticipation of a long wait, we filled out another sheet with some appetizers and more sushi and turned that in. Afterwards, my roommate and I noticed that our Shrimp Tempura had no sauce to accompany it. «Well, that can be remedied!» we thought as we flagged a waiter down and kindly asked him for a bowl of sauce. He agreed to our request… and he never came back. For the rest of our visit, the waiter never returned to our table and instead spent most of his time at the register. By now(having put down our order almost an hour ago), my roommate and I were pretty irate. Our first order of sushi hadn’t arrived and all we had to curb our hunger were our appetizers(hilariously, the 2nd order of appetizers came before our 1st order of sushi). We were also wistfully yearning for our Miso Soup and Gyoza that we had put down with our first order but never arrived. We flagged down a waitress and complained that we never received our sushi. All we got was an «Oh, we’re busy right now…» and she walked away. Turning our heads here and there, my roommate and I noted that the restaurant was a bit more than half-full. I suggested to my roommate that we should talk to their manager. In short time, this suggestion turned into an idea… and then a decision. It has been an hour and a quarter since we’ve ordered, and so we flagged down a waitress and asked to speak to her manager. She leaves for a moment and returns almost instantly, with an «Our manager is busy making sushi right now». Aside from the obvious«too busy to see us» issue, a manager doesn’t have better things to do than making sushi? Such as, oh I don’t know, making sure the customers are satisfied and any needs are addressed? We flagged down a different waitress and again asked to speak to the manager. She leaves and returns, stating that the manager is too busy making sushi, but we can go up to the sushi bar and talk to her ourselves. While in disbelief about the fact that a manager would rather her customers go up to her as opposed to vice versa, the waitress suggested we could go ahead and leave without paying. A nice gesture, but one reading between the lines could interpret this as «You’re way too much trouble to deal with for your money and we’d rather you just go.» With resolve in our hearts and hunger in our stomachs, we headed to the sushi bar to talk to the manager. Right away, we could tell the manager just did. Not. Care. The one thing that could’ve turned this around and she was honestly too deep in sushi making to even bother talking to us. She paid no heed to the fact that I never got all of my appetizers, nor to the fact that we ordered over an hour and a half ago. Talking to her was like talking to a brick wall. There was no getting through to her. In the end, we just left. But the restaurant had one more«kick us while we’re down» moment. In the parking lot, a waitress chased after us… to demand that we pay for our drinks. Really? Nice lasting impression. In a way, it’s a good thing we didn’t get our sushi. Past experiences over this year have given my friends and I sushi with overcooked, soggy rice and less-than-fresh fish. We gave them a chance to rectify that. Instead of making good on that chance, all we got was service that using the adjective«horrendous» for would be a compliment. We didn’t expect to be treated like kings, all we wanted was to be treated as though they appreciated our business. All we wanted was great service with great food. My friends and I expect great things from them because, as patrons from when they first opened, it is what we came to know from the restaurant. Before, hours would fly by as we would talk, laugh, and eat order after order. But now, this restaurant is just a shadow of its former self, merely coasting on its old reputation. Go east, go west, pay a little extra, just don’t come here. I certainly won’t.

This is my update for Wasabi Sushi. I have been going to this place the past 2 years. I have made 7+ trips to this place. I will no longer come here. I’ll spare you some of the details, but rest assure all of this is what happened from our point of view(why else would I write a review this long if this wasn’t accurate?). Like I mentioned in my previous post, service has been the issue with this place. Now it seems like it is worse than before. Yes, the food is cheap but I would rather go to another restaurant that costs a little more and has better service. We waited for 1.5 hrs for our food to come out. In that time, we only got SOME our appetizers. We didn’t even get sushi. We came in after the busy lunch hour. Even when we asked a waiter to get us some sauce for shrimp tempura(because they forgot it), they DIDNOT bring it to us. After waiting for 1.5 hrs for just small appetizers, we asked the waitress to call over her manager. What made me upset was that the waitress replied«the manager was too busy.» We waited 1.5 hrs for a small plate of appetizers?! She’s too busy to see her customers?! Too busy to see who keeps her in business?! So instead of the manager coming to our table to talk to us(like we requested), we fulfilled their request and walked to her(at the sushi bar in front of the entire restaurant). As we talked with her, she paid little/no attention to us. She did not look at us while we explained the situation. Instead she kept her head down at her work station. She did not apologize for the slow and forgetful service. She made no attempt to correct the situation. Her excuse was that the restaurant was busy. Yet, the restaurant wasn’t full. So we left the place without paying. Not going back there ever again. Congrats Wasabi… you just lost one of your loyal customers.

First and foremost: When you put the words«ALLYOUCANEAT» in front of «SUSHI» its pretty much always not gonna be the best sushi. Even in sushi’s birthplace if you can find a place that serves«ALLYOUCANEATSUSHI» it will, in no way, be like you are eating at Jiro’s…not by a long, long, loooooong shot. So that being said Wasabi wins on two fronts… first because they are all you can eat and second: Because they pull it off with having great sushi. Keep in mind I didnt say the best but they do have darn good noms here. Pretty much depending on the time of day(or sometimes just what day in general) you pay on flat rate per person and eat to your hearts content. They even give you a few pages of their menu so after your first round you can fill out another page and get you head all over their other stuffs. So basically you can try everything on the menu in one sitting if you have the appetite for it. Or just eat the things you really like over and over again till you get all big and weird. I prefer going during the dinner hours because they have a bigger menu offering during those hours as opposed to the lunch menu. And the menu is pretty impressive. I mean, its not exactly the Cheesecake Factory phonebook of sushi menus but it does offer a good variety. From you choices of different soups and salads, to a nice offering of appetizers(I dip into the part a few times each visit) and the made to order rolls, sushi, sashimi, and sushi pizzas round out a menu thats bound to make a fan out of most people. Its hard to not find something on there you will like. I know not all the items are homeruns for all but for the price and the option you have you are sure to find something to appease you. But just keep in mind that, like I said, the sushi is great but not the best. But it is way better than any other sushi served buffet style and, as mentioned above, its all made to order. Nothing is premade for people to finger through. You order it, they make it for you… you eat… then you eat more. There are are a few items I know I’m not a fan of though, either due to their contents or they just don’t appeal to me, flavor-wise. As the place in general: Its clean and spacious with a look that is pretty much made to cater to the west. With giant murals of the New York skyline, aside from the sushi bar, nothing really screams that this is actually a sushi place. And as for service. Its good but sometimes misses a little bit here and there. There will be times we hand in a menu with our orders and recieve most of it. They have a tendency to miss a mark or two on the page. This would be a bigger issue if not for the ability to fill out a new page and just order it again but for some it can be an annoyance and it happens to me and My Special Lady Wife(she lives here) almost on every visit since we tend to fill up the page rather effeciently. But hey… they give you free wi-fi to entertain you so thats a plus! So is it the best in Omaha… no. But is it one the better places in Omaha to get a good fix on a budget? Why yes, yes it is. And tho the service can b spotty and the décor seems like it belongs in a sandwich shop I still highly recommend this place. Eat up Minions!

I started coming here after I learned of their All You Can eat sushi. This is not a buffet style all you can eat, it is made to order. This includes several types of soups and salads, some Americanized«starters,» hand rolls, regular and special rolls, «pizza,» nigiri, and some sashimi. The soups offered at most sushi restaurants around town are the powdered miso soups with the perfect little squares of tofu and tiny pieces of seaweed. Wasabi offers an udon soup, a seafood soup(broth with a couple random pieces of seafood such as surf clam, shrimp, etc.), and some other clear broth soups. Their salad selection is also somewhere extensive including an avocado salad, green salad, Japanese seaweed salad(my favorite consisting of shredded seaweed, sea beans, tossed in a seasame and red chili dressing), and a few others. The«starters» are cute little palate pleasers with tempura vegetables, chicken teriyaki, rolled beef with scallions and a sauce, grilled squid, and so on. This is great for the person who may be picky about some of the Asian inspired foods they eat, like my companion. The sushi rolls are the typical california rolls, spicy /insert fish here/rolls, rainbow roll, but they have some nice specialty rolls such as a seafood tempura roll, black/white/green dragon rolls, etc. Their sashimi is limited to tuna, whitefish, mackerel, surf clam, and such but it has always been fresh to the palate when ordered. Their hand rolls are the basic handrolls, but served with generous amounts of meat, such as the eel roll. The nigiri consists of the basic served fish, but also nice additions such as squid or octopus. Last but not least, the«pizza.» These are essentially flattened tempura rolls with a tuna or salmon mix on top, with a cute little dollop of tobiko right in the middle. All in all, for $ 23 a person, all you can eat made to order sushi is a fantastic deal. And if you go there Mon-Sat before 3p, you can order off their lunch all you can eat for $ 13! To finish your meal, you can choose between the red bean ice cream or the green tea ice cream(included with meal, not extra).

I love sushi and I especially love an all you can eat sushi place! After living in a larger city where all you can eat sushi was available in multiple locations, I was happy to find Wasabi Sushi in Omaha and happily drive the hour from Lincoln to visit. We have visited Wasabi three times and have very much enjoyed ourselves. We have gone for dinner all three times at different hours. The later in the evening you go, the busier it is. The first time we did have to wait about 40 minutes for a table but there were also large groups of 10 – 15 people at multiple tables. The second, we called ahead and had a very minimal wait around 6pm, this past weekend there was no wait at all but it was much earlier(around 5pm). Service was reflective of how busy they were: busier was slower but the food was fresh and if you are smart, you order your next round before you finish the first. Dinner for two including drink is about $ 54. Unlike other places, the sushi menu has just enough variety. No, you will NOT find the more expensive rolls on the special menu but you can order them a la carte. I’m not sure how people complain and expect the most expensive fish to be added to all you can eat menu. It’s not like you’re at a fine dining place. You will NEVER find Kobe beef or filet mignon on the all you can menu at buffet places for a reason! The menu is extensive and offers everything from a variety of different salads, the regular appetizers you find at sushi places like edamame, tempura etc, udon, teriyaki, sashimi, sushi, hand rolls, regular rolls and even sushi pizza! I have not ordered a pizza but from other reviews, they are supposedly good. They even offer 3 – 4 flavors of ice cream! Wasabi Sushi is located in a strip mall type of building and shares a parking lot with Jimmy John’s, Wild Wings & Things, TCBY among of other businesses that are not open late along with a Lowe’s and a Michael’s as the anchors in shopping complex. We have not had trouble finding parking! They also offer the best hours, closing at 10 on weeknights and 11 on weekends. It isn’t fancy but the food is good. I would totally recommend Wasabi Sushi! Invite me along too. :-)

Omaha used to be such a simple place, sushi-wise. There was Mt. Fuji(avoid at all costs), and Sushi Ichiban(now Sakura Bana) for choices. Another one moved in for a while at Miracle Hills, but didn’t last long. For a while after that, we had Tokyo Japan and that little place I can never remember downtown. Then Hiro opened up. Then Blue. And suddenly, there’s Wasabi, and Okinawa, and another new one I can’t remember, and it’s starting to get complicated. Well, tonight makes it all just a hair less complicated, since I get to cross Wasabi off my list. Let me take you through it. You have your choice between regular menu prices or the $ 22-something all you can eat. First thing I notice is there’s no expensive fish on the all you can eat menu. I give it a try nevertheless, though I’m going to miss that yellowtail. I’ll have a bite of my wife’s yellowtail roll. Miso soup comes out. Not bad. On the taste scale, more similar to Sakura than the others I’ve had in town, and that’s a good thing in my book. Then my wife’s rolls arrive. The yellowtail is old and fishy. Suddenly really glad I didn’t get to order yellowtail. My food arrives. First up, octopus sushi. Shortest sushi I’ve ever seen, with bits of octopus an inch and a half long, a third of an inch wide, and paper-thin. Guess that’s what I was afraid of with the«all you can eat» option, but that’s a little disappointing. Until I taste it. Never had old octopus before. This is bad, and getting worse. Ok, now it’s down to a few tiny pieces of sashimi. The mackerel? Old. Wow. Next up are white tuna and salmon. Hey! Actually pretty fresh! Well, at least it’s not a complete disaster. So not much food on the first round. Would’ve been plenty anywhere else, but the portions here are tiny. So I order a few pieces of white tuna and salmon sushi, and thankfully they’re pretty good. I’m noticing now the soy sauce is a bit bland. It’s not Kikkoman, and it’s not Yamasa. Some off brand. Either that, or they water it. Gosh, I hope not. I ordered cooked appetizers for the rest. Tatsuta age, served with Japanese mayo, was fair, though it’s better elsewhere. Short ribs were actually quite yummy. There’s no way the teriyaki salmon was cooked any time today. It was at least a day old, and tasted off besides. Worst I’ve had, anywhere, ever. So Omaha has a sushi place between Mt. Fuji(which is still bottom of the barrel bad) and Sakura Bana, which has its good days and its less good days. I was going to give this place two stars just to differentiate it from Mt. Fuji, but the indigestion I’m experiencing right now convinces me otherwise. If you like fresh sushi, avoid this place. I’m not joking about the indigestion, by the way. I’m off to find the bottle of Tums.

Mmmm sashimi, sashimi, sashimi. I’m still thinking about the savory & buttery taste of that white fish sashimi from last night. This is buffet eating at its best! It reminds me, somewhat, of the dim sum concept, yet everything is made fresh to order, which is really nice. They give you several menu sheets where you can order all you want, at a great price of $ 22.99 for dinner, $ 12.99 for lunch, and $ 20.99 on sundays. I’ve been here twice, so far, and have been happy & satisfied both times. I don’t really eat much sushi, cuz i’ve cut out rice from my diet, but once in awhile some good sushi is worth it. And their sushi is quite delicious! My other favorites are the kal bi(short ribs), the shrimp tempura, and the salmon sashimi, those are my «go to» dishes when I visit this restaurant. The service is top notch as well. The watiers & waitresses are pretty attentive and the chefs take their food pretty seriously, making sure each and every dish has a great presentation for their customers. Wasabi sushi is a winner in my book! I’m very much looking forward to my next visit =)

My husband is a big sushi fan, so we headed to Wasabi Sushi for their $ 12.99 all-you-can-eat sushi lunch today. I am not a sushi connoisseur but I can tell you that everything was fresh. The rolls were delicious and the tempura was as expected — seemingly light and crunchy. Their menu is somewhat extensive, with many, many items in each category: appetizer, rolls and sushi. For dessert there is green tea, red bean and vanilla ice cream. If you can eat a bunch of sushi I would recommend coming here. There aren’t many special items on the menu(like with cool sauces) but this is a good option for the price.

When I read«all you can eat», «made to order», and«sushi» in the same OWH dining note, I couldn’t get to Wasabi soon enough for lunch. I stopped in with a friend, and after a $ 30 for two people with tax, I’m a fan. It’s not my favorite sushi in town, by far. But convenient and tasty when you want sushi at happy hour prices during non-HH times… For that price, we had 5 rolls, seaweed salad, tempura yam, and edamame. I’d be willing to wager it’s the cheapest sushi restaurant in town. Dinner prices are a little more at $ 23/person(lunch w/o sashimi is $ 13), but if you really went all out, it’d be a killer value. Service was quick, cordial, and accurate. Ordering is off the menu, everything’s made to order(note, this is not a buffet), and to prevent wastefulness they will charge you for ‘uneaten’ food. Our last trip to Wasabi included no less than 4 orders(don’t worry, they provide lots of menus for this kind of thing). Everything was really good… especially for the price.
