I’ve always loved their rolls, and the staff is always friendly, courteous, and prompt. Their food is always displayed like beautiful artwork, and I was impressed the staff remembered that I had previously asked about the green tea ice cream(which is FANTASTIC!). I hope Tokyo Tavern stays and becomes one of Oneonta’s many treasured gems.

went in on Saturday night… wow what a mistake! The guy(I believe he is the owner) was rude. We asked him if he has Inari(Tofu Skin) on the menu which is a normal dish for JAPANESESUSHI. He looked at us like we order something from out of the planet and making fun of us… letting us know that there is no such thing called«INARI» in Japanese food and then said«This is not Japan, you know? » what an A*hole! He should study the Japanese food before open the Japanese restaurant. Please avoid at all cost. The restaurant is old, dirty and outdated. oh! the miso soup they gave you for free was a waste. taste like a bag of salt!

Definitely a Chinese interpretation of Japanese food. Its pretty obvious at the window. So, if you actually want Japanese food, you should just hold out for the next time you are in Albany or NYC. The overpriced hot sake was bottom of the barrel well-liquor grade. The fish on the sushi platter was tasteless slabs of barely thawed fish. The rice on the sushi was hard and cold. I think I’ve actually had better sushi at Hannaford.

Had been coming to this restaurant for awhile. The lunch menu features Bento Boxes. The box consisted of Teriakyi Chicken, which was dry and tasteless. There was also this mystery meat breaded and fried which was supposedly Fried Chicken? They were coin sized and as hard as a rock, embarrassing. The quality of this restaurant has gone way down. There aren’t many choices in the area so try it at your own risk and avoid the bento boxes.

Two words: lunch special. The sushi is consistently good and the prices are reasonable, but their lunch deals are under $ 10. Favorites: –pan fried vegetable gyoza(dumplings with seaweed, tofu, mushrooms, and other vegetables chopped finely and served with a dipping sauce) –sweet potato roll(warm sweet potato, rice, seaweed topped with a sweet brown sauce) In the past I’ve had their fried rice and spicy tuna rolls, both of which were excellent. Give ‘em a try when you’re coming through town, you won’t regret it. Take into consideration, too, that you’re eating sushi in a landlocked town; my rating is based on the area.
