In a world where calling tech support for an issue leads you to a non english speaking script reader, XFX stands out by being one of the few companies which actually have not only english speakers who answer the phone but folks who actually use their own products in their own systems. When I was worried about the crashing my 7970 was having they calmly walked me through the troubleshooting steps to benchmark it for overheating issues and then even mailed me a replacement cooler free of charge which fixed the issue immediately. They even provided a guide on how to reapply thermal paste and replace the fan since i’m not too savy with hardware maintenance. All in all it was the best problem service I’ve dealt with compared to the majority of other computer related companies I’ve dealt with these days.

I chose the XFX brand over others for their warranty and heat management solution for video cards, expecting quiet yet effective cooling and to get many years of use out of it. Instead, I experienced their fans failing in a little over 2 years, making noises intermittently for a good while before dying, and experienced a long drawn out warranty process with long durations(days) between their replies to mine, using a very crude web design. I resorted to using my CPU’s onboard video, but had trouble installing the driver that would allow me to even watch view on it without lag. I ended up shopping for a new card, since this process was taking so long. Finally got my RMA # one week after I submitted the ticket, and sent my defective one in. Since I’m nearby, it only took 1 day to ship, and got notification that the front desk accepted it. Two weeks later, I got the message that it’s on the way, but either the package got stolen or misdelivered, as I never received it. After investigating the tracking report, I noted that I was home to accept an UPS package that arrived a few hours later. XFX did not acknowledge my report. They could have filed an insurance claim with FedEx, but instead they burned bridges. The entire process took from Aug 25 to Sep 15, support ticket to ship date. I advise to not have high expectations of their double dissipation design nor to expect quick warranty service or decent customer care, unless things change. When I shopped for a new card, I saw XFX had shortened their warranty, so I just decided to go with a more reputable brand that’s known to use quality components(ex. ASUS), hoping to not have to deal with a warranty at all and just replace it when I feel I need to upgrade.

Don’t bother trying to use their site or calling their tech support line. I had registered my motherboard and video card years ago and recently reloading my machine. The driver CD’s were out dated so I attempted to log into their site. I couldn’t because I did not have the original confirmation email. I gave up and called their tech # only to be chewed out by a guy for even asking about downloading drivers from their site. I was told my motherboard was AMD and Nvidia and to check with them. He also said they didn’t have drivers for download on their site?! I’ve been treated with more respect by the DMV. I’m also an IT guy myself and have never treated even the most annoying customers they way I was treated today. My XFX motherboard and video card have run flawlessly for over 5 years, I will never buy another XFX product because of their support and crappy site registration. Lost a customer for life. Suck it.

XFXUSA is a manufacturer of desktop computer video display adapters, power supplies and accessories. They are not direct sellers, but their products are available from national retailers such as, NewEgg, TigerDirect, Amazon, Fry’s and MicroCenter. I have purchased several XFX video cards over the years and for the most part, was satisfied with their products. I’m not a gamer, so my requirements for a video card are not as demanding as others. The reason for my low rating is because of a recent attempt to warranty a failed video card during the warranty period. The process was onerous and lengthy and resulted in never being able to obtain an RMA to return the failed device. Sometimes it took several days before I received a response and then would be put through more hoops. I had been a satisfied customer and a loyal customer, but that has changed. I will NEVER buy another XFX product.
