went to Shrimp Basket for the first time(on Valentine’s Day of all days!) as my husband who has been to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach before swore by this place… well at least for one of the few places to serve steamed shrimp. he happily ordered his usual ½ pound steamed shrimp and i ordered the grilled whitefish platter with the red beans and rice. it didn’t disappoint. the steamed shrimp was perfectly seasoned as was my whitefish. the tartar sauce was good and the coleslaw which is a shrimp coleslaw(both standard sides) were very good. i was surprised to read the reviews as they seemed really all over the place. our service was great(quick and polite and even knew how to entertain our 18 month old), and the place clean i’d recommend this location and will probably be back again as we’re here for 10 days.

Ate here most recently on December 9, 2015. Being the offseason, very few restaurants open during the week, so there we were. We have eaten here twice, eat-in and twice take-out. About the best thing I can say about this restaurant is that their prices are on the lower end for most menu items — exception is their shrimp slaw which is very highly prices at $ 2.50 I believe for about a 4 ounce serving. The service is slow, and the servers are vastly over-worked, covering too many tables The first time we were there, in October, 2015, they did not have any clean utensils, so our server had to go wash some for us — not very reassuring. This particular visit, the gumbo was almost cold and the flavor very bland. It tasted old, and had clearly been«heated up» for me. I would have sent it back for re-heating, but I have a personal rule of never sending food back to the kitchen. No sense in giving the kitchen help a second chance at your food. My wife always gets the fried shrimp basket, which is always good… above average. I cannot recommend this particular location for eat-in, if you are looking for a pleasurable dining experience. However, on the carry-out side, I can recommend this location. Food portions are good, as are prices, and food quality is acceptable. When you do go to pick up your food for carry-out, be prepared to have to tell 2 – 3 people your name and wait until they«find» your order… happens every time. In summary, they say there are three components to a successful business… location, location, location. So, I would say that pretty much sums up why this restaurant s still in business.

Food was OK. Cockroaches were gross. A waitress was nice and brought out crackers in a basket for our kids. All of sudden, three roaches hopped out and started scurrying across our table. Let’s just say my «all you can eat» shrimp, didn’t sound very appetizing anymore… Manager came out but did not seem to care, did not offer a discount or anything. I would not recommend any of shrimp basket locations in general because the food really isn’t that great. We’ve also had various issues at other locations.

Short and sweet of it… Service was very poor. There were about 5 servers all of whom walked by our table at least twice and not one said a word to us as they helped tables who had come in after us. After having to ask a server for service, we were helped. Shrimp was very good. The breading was very well done and seasoned nicely. White fish was light and well cooked. Boiled shrimp and fish were very good as well. Prices were reasonable. I just dislike very much being ignored.

The location wasn’t that bad. Although it didn’t have an ocean view, it was close to the hotel so it was easy to get to. The shrimp basket I ordered was ok, except it didn’t have anything special about it. The waiter was very nice, but didn’t have much experience. Overall the place was fairly good for the cost. I’ll probably try the place again with a different order next time.

Grabbed a late dinner after arriving in town and were treated really well even though it was almost closing time. Our waitress was super kind and had great suggestions for us. My blackened grouper was just the right amount of spice for what was some of the best grouper I have had. Highly recommend!

Nice beach shack setting/environment. This is not an ocean front restaurant but it is 250 feet from the ocean. Service was a tad slow in the beginning but I’m assuming it’s because it was a holiday weekend. Food was great & exactly as described. I had a special made to order combo which included blackened shrimp & fried oysters with coleslaw, hush puppies & a side(I choose green beans.) Great lunch! Food was prepared accordingly with a lot of flavor! Pina Colada wasn’t good so I traded it in for a Bushwacker which was so much more tastier & refreshing! I’ll definitely return!

Definitely do not recommend. Unless you are just there for an adult beverage. The food tasted like it was frozen food. Portions are small more like a child’s size and the fried oysters are TERRIBLE. The party we were with said their food came out barely warm. And when they asked hostess, she simply said what did you want me to do about it. Um maybe try again ?! Parking is awful.

They have some of the best fried seafood I have ever had. Perfectly & lightly breaded. We went during all you can eat fried shrimp day and it was incredible. This is the second time there for us and we will keep coming back. Awesome food at a great price!

We were at Orange Beach with the kids and I was craving a shrimp poboy. I ended up looking at the Shrimp Basket’s website because they were right across the street from our condo. I ended up ordering the shrimp plate because it said it came with 2 hush puppies and a corn fritter. I was interested in trying the fritter. Well, when I opened it the fritter looked like half a fritter, about the size of a quarter maybe, but like a circle that had been cut in half, and the hush puppies were about the same size. Being from South Louisiana, I found the fried shrimp to be very bland, but the tartar and cocktail sauce was good. I give it a meh. It fulfilled my fried shrimp craving but it was nothing to rave about for sure.

ate outside, my fault, not smart for me. While they do have misters and fans, when you are eating gumbo and other spiced food it can only do so much. I got the fried combo platter, very good, shrimp and white fish were the stars, which makes sense here. Oysters were aplenty too. It was good for sure. To me fried seafood is not my favorite, but if it is your you will like this place a lot.

Nothing fancy about this restaurant. Located in a strip mall and very casual. Plenty of outdoor seating. People go here because the food is awesome. We tried it after seeing many people coming into our resort with take-out from there. I ordered the fried shrimp with cheese grits. My shrimp were fried just right — crispy and not greasy — and the cheese grits had just the right amount of salt/cheese. Everything is served with a seafood slaw, that was okay. Would definitely recommend the Shrimp Basket for lunch while in Orange Beach.

Great food– all you can eat service is a bit slow, but worth it. We will make this a regular stop during vacation!

Went there twice during our stay and both times were great! Service was pretty good even with the wait. The drinks were good although I wouldn’t say their daiquiris were the best on the island. The bushwhacker was pretty tasty and very cooling on the hot days. Food was quick to come out and very tasty liked everything we had there! Catfish is very yummy and the Caribbean shrimp skewers are a must try!

Love the food here, we really really do but today is ridiculous… We arrived at 12:40 and there were 10 other people waiting, not very busy. It is now 2:05 and we’ve yet to see any food. Our waiter is running like a mad man so it’s obvious he’s not the issue. Severely understaffed is the problem. The rest of the staff is pretty chilled out, no big hurry. Sitting on the porch is nice but of course it sits next to what’s almost a road, lots of traffic and a beautiful aroma of dumpster. Ah, the trash truck is here so that’s bound to dissipate soon. Not very happy this visit.

Got takeout from here our first night in town based on the reviews we read. It was good seafood, but felt it was a bit pricey for what it was. It was all fresh and very tasty, but $ 68 for four people was more than I was expected. I would recommend it, but be prepared that it isn’t seafood on the cheap.

The shrimp basket was one of the first restaurants we tried when we arrived in Orange Beach. Nothing fancy about this place but the food was good. I had a half-dozen raw oysters which were fresh and tasty. For our meals we both ordered fried shrimp which was also very good. Service was attentive and friendly. Definitely a good value for your money.

Previously have taken orders to-go and had no issues but wanted to experience the dine-in experience. Greeted as soon as we walked in and were told to sit wherever we wanted. Server came right over with menus. It smells like fried shrimp in there(YUM) but there are plenty of options if you’re trying to keep things light. I’ve only ever ordered shrimp here, and they’ve always been large, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. Portions are large –I ended up stuffed. I went around lunchtime but there are no lunch specials –same menu all day. Came out to almost $ 50 for two entrees, one appetizer, and two beers. A bit steep for lunch, but we did enjoy the meal.

I was staying in a hotel across the street and this place was one of the recommendations by the hotel clerk. The first night I tried another place but finally tried the Shrimp Basket. At first I thought it would be another«chain» seafood place. The food here was average to good. The service was appropriate but not exceptional. There were lots of options to choose from so I got the fried seafood combo. It was more food than I could eat. There were a ton of fried oysters and shrimp, a couple pieces of some kind of fish filet, a stuffed crap, a side(i got fried okra) and a drink. The price was acceptable and the server did check on me. Not bad for a «chain» place on the beach.
