Star Nails and Spa

Stopped by Star Nails for a quick manicure while visiting family in DeLand/​Orange City are. This little salon is right next to Publix and easy to miss! It has lots of windows and was well lit and the pedicure stations seemed newer. The manicure stations were a little older looking, but since it’s essentially just a table, who really cares? Their nail color selection was fairly large, and I noticed that they also offered gel manicures and nail art.
I was able to walk right in and sit down for the mani around noon on a Saturday. My manicure was perfectly acceptable, although my nail technician seemed completely distracted by the tv, outside, etc, etc, most of the time. The attention to the cuticles and shaping of the nails was acceptable, but not extensive. The hand massage was just barely long enough to rub in the lotion (I know I’m spoiled by my normal salon back home!) Since it was quiet, I was able to sit at the station in front of the fan for drying instead of sitting at the drying station.
Overall, this place was just OK, nothing exceptional about it but nothing objectionable. As the three star rating says, just «A-​OK».
