I wanted to take my brother in law for a bite to eat, and we stopped here, the décor is nice, clean, friendly service… But the food? we order a bowl of sweet and sour soup the menu states is made with chicken and has pieces of chicken in the soup, well there was no chicken to be found in the bowl, the bamboo shoots were very soggy maybe from yesterday and the soup was warm, like it has been sitting back there, I know they didn’t make the soup the fact it was warm it was old and soggy. This is lunch time on a Tuesday i ordered kung pao chicken with brown rice which came quickly but no rice, then i pointed it to the waitress and she went to bring me a bowl of rice, but came empty handed because she forgot what kind of rice I’ve ordered, then we were waiting for his dish to arrive a sashimi salad, few minutes went by and the girl was nowhere to be found. I offered some of my food the salad never came so I got up and asked another waiter about the salad and he just blew me off and said oh it will be right out. Without going in the kitchen to check, I said we want our salad now or tske it out of the bill we’re leaving. and he knew i was not happy and went to check and me to the table. a few minutes later he, not the girl brought the salad by this time kinda soggy I tried to make the best of and not complain, then, and I told my brother sorry the food was not that great! and he laughing said yes but the girls are cute ha ha, yes that’s what they’re counting on she came with the bill, so she was not MIA…

This is honestly the Best experience I’ve ever had in my life. It was 9:18 when we called about what time they closed and the host who answered said 9:30 and we would still be seated if me and a group of friends showed up so we did. Let me just say, we were Exhausted from work, we were starving. We felt bad we were«those» people who come in 10 mins before closing but the manager sulki and the server(especially him) I forgot his name but he’s super nice I want him to get credit for this awesome experience so he said he was a game designer and a also helped out or owned a shelter. Anyways the food was Phenomenal, it was quick, had great taste and it was just so perfect. Thank you to the team for taking care of us I will be back with my family! P. S The walnut shrimp is AMAZING !!!

Expensive food for bleh tasting food. My boyfriend was feeling sick and I was feeling tired. Additionally, for some odd reason the Chinese restaurant down the street from us wasn’t picking up their phone so I couldn’t order pick up from them. Instead perused the list of places that deliver just to make life a little bit easier and saw that Fortune Cookies had exceptional reviews. Food — I like to order Americanized Chinese food all the time because I grew up on it, but my boyfriend doesn’t really care for it as he likes authentic Chinese food(he’s a first gen Chinese American and grew up eating legit Chinese food often). He usually doesn’t share an opinion of Americanized Chinese food, but this time he did. He disliked the dishes and we agreed on the following: first, the beef and broccoli dish was bland and just seemed to be mostly just starch; again, the hot and sour soup was bland with more starch. The only«good» thing about the hot and sour soup was that there was a decent amount of chicken pieces in the soup compared to other places. Delivery– The staff had said it would take an hour, but it took less time and came within 35 – 40 minutes instead during peak dinner time. It does cost an additional fee which wasn’t outrageous, but I don’t think I’m going to be ordering from them anytime soon.

Buyer beware the nutritional facts listed on the menu are completely incorrect. I sent an email to the corporate office to make them aware and find out the correct info with no response. The crispy orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken state around 3 grams of fat which is impossible for a dish that is fried. The waiter admitted the nutritional info is wrong but yet they have done nothing to fix it.

We used the«DELIVERY» service option for Fortune Cookies, so our review is based on the food being delivered to us, not being served inside the actual restaurant. Our office received a menu in the mail which was very classy and had great features like no MSG, fresh vegetables, low sodium soy, 100% white meat chicken, etc. which is why we decided to give it a try it for our office lunch. We ordered by phone and within ½ an hour we had our food delivered to the office. Food was really presented well and looked delicious as we took out each meal. We had a large selection of food including sweet and sour fish fillet, 4 pieces vegetable roll, 2 pieces dumpling, soybeans, cucumber salad, egg roll, veggie lo mein, house fried rice, california roll and philadelphia rolls. The meal also came with 2 fortune cookies per person, 2 forks per person, chopsticks, napkins, soy sauce and assortment of condiments in different containers. The hot items came in one bag and the cold in another. Cucumber salad was refreshing, soy beans were warmed and tasty. They come plain without toppings. Potstickers were awesome. Overall a really decent Chinese Food restaurant!

Was really disappointed after reading all the great reviews. This is just glorified fast food… no where near authentic. Extremely Americanized. I hate Panda express, but would eat that over this. Food was bland and you couldn’t really tell a difference between the sauces, orange chix and kung pow had the same taste. Potstickers I don’t think are made from scratch, previously frozen and tiny. No hot oil offered, just chili paste… yuk. Rice tasted ‘off’ They charge an extra dollar if you want a cup of soup and an egg roll with your lunch, where are most Chinese places that’s included in the lunch special. Hot and sour soup was disgusting. Restaurant was empty when we walked in took about 10 minutes for the waitress to come up to our table. We had to ask her to wipe it down because it was completely sticky. Food came out in a timely manner but she never came back to check on us or ask how anything was.

Great fresh food and fast service. Our server Ronald was unbelievably friendly, polite and efficient. Very good experience. Bonus, they also have gluten free entrees.

Service sucked. Food was good(don’t expect authentic Chinese food) and prices were reasonable. If Pei wei and Panda express had a baby, it would be this place. Ambiance was fairly nice. There was a generous amount of options for lunch, which we all chose from. The feedback from my coworkers was: «it’s good!» I ordered Mongolian beef, which came out okay… but definitely not the taste I was expecting, so beware. Service was crappy! The server we had probably woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. We all have our off days but I feel, maybe, this is the way she serves on a good day. or at least that’s the impression she left with us. She didn’t hand out things properly, wasn’t very hospitable or pleasant and assumed to keep everyone’s change when we paid… even the busboy was rude. Sorry guy, but I didn’t really take the spoon for the chili, its called a joke. Service can really make a difference, hopefully they can rid of the bad ones and hire on the better.

We have eaten here twice now, both times we had the sushi delivered to our apartment. Calling in the order: the to-go order process is very simple, they’re very very friendly and go over everything with you again to ensure its correct. We asked for extra soy sauce the second order, and they were happy to oblige! The food: I have loved the sushi both times we ordered, it is fresh and delicious! The miso soup was warm and plenty! They don’t hold back on the tofu either! They give you the option to have salted or unsalted edemame, it’s still hot when you get it and perfectly cooked, not soggy or slimy! We loved the food both times! The delivery: it takes about an hour to get your food, which is understandable seeing as they make it fresh and drive it over! When it gets there it’s fresh and at the correct temperature! The driver, is always nice and friendly! Consensus: WELOVETHISPLACE!

I am trying to wrap my head around how this place has a 4 out of 5 stars. Been wanting to try this place for so long… because of high reviews. Came in on a Sunday at 5. Only maybe 6 other tables full when we arrived. Let’s start with the potsticker appetizer because I can seem to get the taste out of my mouth. What do they put in these? Breakfast sausage? Because that’s all I tasted. Service was especially slow. My husband had 3 refills on his drink before we got our food. I already knew after the appetizer that it was most likely going to continue to go down hill, but I had hope. All hope was gone when our waitress put the rice in front of us. Microwaved dry rice. It was horrible. It was as if they didn’t serve rice… ever. Mongolian beef? That was not Mongolian beef. And I need a knife for the horrible beef. The so called beef came out hot and she said our crispy orange chicken would be right out. Well… when it finally came out, it was luke warm! The beef was still warmer. How did they just make this? Also need a knife to cut through some of the chicken. 2 adults and 1 child(no children’s menu) and we took most of the food home… which I will not be eating. Chinese food is not hard and yet they made it taste like it was served at a TGIFridays or some other commercial fast food style restaurant. Bummed out.

We ran into friends coming out as we were going in. They loved it… We didn’t. It seemed that every element missed the mark. I liked the décor, but the place was inexplicably noisy. Lots of kitchen noise though the door to the kitchen was not huge. The waiter was overly dramatic. Trying to act gracious or something, but came off as pretentious and annoying. Hot and sour soup was tasty, but neither hot nor sour after the first spoonful. Sweet and sour shrimp was… only sweet. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The bell peppers were bland, and the onions about the same. Sha Cha Chicken was billed as a Thai dish with a satay sauce. Sorry, I know satay, and this wasn’t it. Not peanut-based, not thick. It was basically a thin brown garlic sauce as was listed on so many other dishes on the menu. The chicken was good but was cut way too big to eat with chopsticks. We asked for a knife, which was promptly delivered with an overdramatic flourish. The spinach was tough and stringy, the kind that is so long It wants to slide down your throat and choke you before you can chew it up. Awful. Cut those stems off, guys! At the end, for some reason we were told that the soups were on the house. Maybe they picked up on our vibes. We didn’t take the leftovers home.

This is a new Chinese restaurant in the Smart and Final plaza, next door to Daiso. Came for dinner, food was fantastic It reminds me of PF Chang, but less expensive Décor is new and nice. Also, not just Chinese food there are some California sushi rolls. Staff was friendly. We plan to return to try out the lunch specials. One suggestion to restaurant, it would be nice to have a knife in the place setting because the chicken and beef pieces in our meals are large, so difficult to eat without cutting into smaller bites.

I was ecstatic when I found out that a Fortune Cookies was opening not to far down the freeway from me. The décor is almost an exact copy of the other locations and is actually more spacious and comfortable. Only difference being that there is no TV and it lacks a sushi bar. The menu is identical down to the Rolls and Lunch Specials. Still a great option for healthy and delicious Chinese food, they only use 100% white meat chicken breast, trans fat free vegetable oil, and no MSG. You can also order your Sushi Rolls with brown, red and black rice. Lunch specials being the main draw(everyday 11AM — 4PM), you still get 29 different options that’s served with your choice of brown, steamed, or fried rice. You can also add egg flower or sweet and sour soup as well as a vegetable egg roll for only $ 0.99. Both soups are delicious with the egg flower soup being my personal favorite. This used to be given for free with your lunch special but I guess this has since changed at all locations. The lunch portion size is enough to fill you up and if you add a sushi roll, you’ll more than likely leave with left overs. My suggestion would be to come during the Lunch Special as you’ll be paying more for the same amount during regular hours(Crispy chicken is a $ 4 difference). Additionally, If you’re ordering family style during the lunch hours, just order from the lunch menu instead of the regular menu. The items are served on separate dishes with the rice on the side and you’ll still be able to share for less compared to ordering from the regular menu. Portion size is almost identical. Crispy Orange Chicken(290 Cal) — Lightly battered white meat chicken breast blended with chili peppers, green onions, and orange peel house sauce — Absolutely delicious with the right amount of flavor to keep the chicken from being dry. The chicken itself can be a bit thin but there’s plenty to go around to keep you satisfied. Kung Pao Chicken(290 Cal) — Sliced white meat chicken breast with water chestnuts, peanuts, and chili peppers in a fiery sauce — A perfect ratio between chicken and vegetables, the sauce was just right to bring it all together. Mongolian Beef(360 Cal) — Sliced tender beef sautéd with bamboo shoots and green onions in our special brown sauce — They weren’t kidding when they said the beef was tender. Cooked perfectly and loaded with bamboo shoots, I was still grinning when I had the left overs the next day. Sweet and Sour Fish — Stir fried Dover Sole with pineapple, bell peppers, carrots, and onions in our house sweet and sour sauce — More sweet than sour, the pineapple flavor really starts to take over after a few pieces. The Dover Sole is oh so moist under that fried outer layer. Orange Beef(410 Cal) — New York strip steak sautéd with tangerine peel in sweet and spicy house sauce — A bit of a let down. May have been an off day but this dish got nauseating after a few bites. Too strong in flavor, the overly sweetened sauce tasted like oyster sauce. Mermaid Roll — Spicy crab, shrimp tempura, cucumber, albacore on top with mushroom and jalapeño sauce — Couldn’t really taste the mushroom and jalapeño sauce but I can appreciate the thick cuts of Albacore on top. A bit more on the rice side, they still loaded the middle with enough spicy crab to make this a very filling roll. Service — Always greeted promptly upon entry and quickly seated, watching the servers work is like watching a well oiled machine. They always serve you with a smile and are never intrusive. A certain server can seem a bit. floaty, but it’s quite entertaining. If you’re a fan of the other Fortune Cookie locations, have no fear, the Orange location is no different. The food is delicious, the portion size is filling, and the service is diligent. If you’re looking for Authentic Chinese food, this may not be your cup of tea but Fortune Cookies isn’t your generic Panda Express. If healthy yet tasty is your thing, what are you waiting for?

So far I have eaten their food twice and have not come up with anything they can improve upon! I’ve had the house lo mein and the garlic chicken — both were super good! The house lo mein comes with shrimp, steak, and chicken and is a verrry generous portion. All of their dishes come with the option of white or brown rice, and i really appreciate that there is not an extra charge for brown rice. They also have fountain soda, which is a huuuge plus because most Asian restaurants dont have them! I also really like that they give complimentary wontons(because carbs carbs carbs all day erryday) and have provide forks without having to be asked(because these old hands aint learning any new tricks). The strip mall location may have you thinking this place is on the divey end, but TRUST me its not. Is super well decorated, very well staffed, and everything is super clean and new. Give this new OC spot a try — I think its going to become a favorite for many of us!

This is my spot! Fantastic location because it’s next to some of my other favorite places, Daiso, Nothing Bundt Cakes, TJ Maxx, and Five Guys. No wait for a table. Came in and had an intimate early dinner. Booth was chic. Décor lovely. Table clean. Almost had the restaurant to ourselves, which is always a magnifying plus for me. Denny was our waiter. He was efficient, sincere and knowledgable. A pleasant server to be catered by. Ordered:(1) Pan Fried Potstickers,(1) Beef Fried Rice,(1) Orange Beef and(1) House Lo Mein. Tasting went as follows, Good, Great, Great, Good! Sizable portions and reasonable prices. Loved the service, the food and the low key elegant atmosphere. I’m coming back and would hit up the Los Al or Fountain Valley locations thanks to this experience!

Lunch on Saturday, 8÷15÷15(first time visiting) This restaurant could be easy to miss since it’s located in a large plaza with other stores. Parking is abundant in this large lot. The ambiance looks sophisticated but nice. The service was friendly as well. We came in with a party of about 30 people but we were still assisted in a timely manner. They have lunch specials in addition to the regular-priced menu items. I had the California roll combination with 2 pieces of sushi, soy beans, cucumber salad, miso soup, and an eggroll for about $ 7. I know I should have ordered Chinese food to get the taste of the restaurant’s specialties but I was in a hurry so I got something that would be quick. The cucumber salad could have used some dressing though. I think it was just plain cucumbers sliced up. The miso soup was not too salty, which was good. And you can’t go wrong with California rolls. Lunch was alright. I’ll have to come again to try other Chinese dishes though.

Unilocal challenge 2015. 172⁄365 Located at the corner of Katella and Tustin, next door to Daiso in Orange. Serving up made to order dine in or take out Chinese food. Dinner for 2 with only 2 dishes and dry white rice was about $ 23.00. Service was fast and friendly. Placed my order to go and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Food was nicely packaged and ready to eat straight from the box. Moo Shu Chicken was a decent mix of chicken and veggies with a package of chinese style tortillas and some Hoison sauce. Very yummy. Kind of skimpy on the sauce, so be sure to order extra. Orange chicken is alright. Somewhere in the middle of good and average. Had a good amount of sauce, making it nice and sticky. Just not as crispy as I like it. 3.5 star food Review #662

Let’s start with the cute décor. It’s definitely not your typical Chinese food restaurant. A very modern décor. From the wall of wine to the wood work on the wall and ceiling. Tables/booths are spaced out such that patrons have their own space to dine and have an unobstructed view of the restaurant. Moving on to the service. One word: amazing. Very much family oriented. Wait staff works together as a family to make sure all patrons are taken care of. Work is not pushed around so whoever you ask can help you with whatever you want. Servers Henry and Trung took care of us from A-Z. Servers are knowledgeable about the menu. Trung checked in on us often to make sure we were taken care of, but not so intrusive where we felt hoveed over. Our food was made fresh to order and came out quickly and was yummy. Store manager Sulki, came out to greet us and make sure everything was to our liking. He even took the time to take a photo for us. He’s a very down to earth and friendly person. He’s not the type of manager who is afraid to get his hands dirty. If there is work to be done, he’ll roll up his sleeves and get it done. He’s a great example to his staff.

This new place just opened in my hometown last week. I’m usually the LAST person to crave Chinese cuisine but since my family likes to support local restaurants and they claimed that they are healthier, we decided to give it a try! AMBIANCE/SEATING The ambiance is gorgeous! Very clean and grand inside without making you feel tiny. I liked the décor everywhere, from the hanging wood in the main dining area to the giant rainbow mural on the side wall, to the fresh flowers, this place was very easy on the eyes. I noticed that some of the booths also had interesting sizes and shapes. STAFF All of the staff was very attentive and friendly without being too in-your-face. They were knowledgable and you wouldn’t even suspect that they just started working there. FOOD As for the food itself, we opted to order 5 lunch portions to share and it was plenty of food. We had leftovers for 3 people the next day. Each dish(even the noodle ones) comes with a side of white, brown, or fried rice. **Orange chicken** was one of the best I’ve ever had in my life. Not too much bread. Delicious sauce. **Sha cha Chicken** with mushrooms and spinach. Not your ordinary chinese dish — or least I’ve never tried it before — but it was so good! Def came in at a close second behind the orange chicken. I would order this again. I especially liked the lean/thin cuts of chicken. **Sweet and sour tofu** I personally don’t like fried tofu but my dad thought it was decent. The sauce looked thick and unappetizing to me. **Budha’s delight** Classic veggie dish. Very good. Veggies were not cooked to death; still had a nice crunch which we like! Light sauce. **Chicken Lo Mein** nothing particularly special about the dish, but I did like the lean/thing cuts of chicken.

We came here for dinner on Sat night. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly staff. Got seated right away. The décor inside of the restaurant is beautiful. They offer Chinese food and Sushi. So we ordered some of each to try. We ordered: Honey glazed walnut shrimps-must try Hot & sour soup, wonton soup-very tasty Spicy tuna rolls-very fresh tuna CA rolls– so good we ordered a second order House lo mein– has chicken, steak, shrimp, veggie and soft noodles. Generous portion and enough for the 4 of us to share. String beans-delicious!!! Easy to find parking. It is located right next door to Daiso and Smart & Final. Everything was very good. We will definitely come back to try out the other items on the menu.
