Thai food is my favorite kind of food, and there haven’t been a lot of great options in the area, so I was excited to see the sign for Thai Spice while driving on the Post Road recently. I finally tried it this week, and I am happy to say that I will be coming back! A great addition to the neighborhood! The first thing that I noticed was how fresh the food looked. A promising start! I like my Thai food on the spicy side, but since it was my first time here, I ordered everything«medium» hot. At first taste, I thought that it needed a little more heat, but after a few more bites, I realized that Thai Spice had perfectly balanced the flavors: I could taste every ingredient, including each of the fresh vegetables, and the heat was just right for the dish. My only quibble was that the Tom Yung soup was a little saltier than I like, but it was still good, and I finished every last drop. The restaurant itself is small, comfortable, and nicely decorated without being fancy or pretentious. A welcoming place. I wish the owners great success, and I am looking forward to my next visit.

Very fresh and a great addition to Orange. We always need to go to New Haven for good Thai but now we can head to rt 1 for authentic and delicious thai food. We have gone for lunch twice and both times the service has been a little off — they must still be working out the kinks of that. We love pad thai and this place delivers — with super fresh veggies and just enough peanut sauce. The spring rolls are good even though we wonder if the noodles are a little thick in them. My husband loves the fried rice — with fresh veggies that are not overcooked. I loved it here!

I’ve been to this new establishment on at least 4 separate occasions, and the dishes varied e.g. Spicy Bamboo Beef, Beef & Broccoli, Garlic Soft Shell Crab Supreme, Steamed Snapper With Lemon Sauce, just to name a few. Let me just say, after consuming my meals, it was just pure bliss!!! The ingredients are fresh and the beef dishes are spicy with subtle sweetness… I will say this, on my quest to find the near perfect Thai restaurant, by far, Thai Spice is the best!!! The menu is extensive and the owner & the staff are awesome!!!

i went to Thai Spice for the first time this evening with my boyfriend and his mother, and had a wonderful dining experience. my boyfriend and i each had a steaming bowl of coconut curry vegetable noodle soup which wasn’t on the menu, but was something we each had a specific craving for. we inquired with our server to see if it was possible to have the chef make it. what she made was a spectacular batch of perfectly spiced, perfectly creamy, with the perfect amount of vegetables coconut curry vegetable noodle soup! perfect! mom got a dish of vegetable tempura with a side of rice and what was meant to be an appetizer, turned out to be a very large meal with enough to take home. the tempura was crisped to amazing. one thing to note: they are a byob establishment. bring your own and they’ll keep it chilled for you if need be!

I had the pleasure of eating here tonight– what a gem of a restaurant! We started our meal with an order of steamed dumplings, which were excellent, tender with pork filling. My entrée was the chicken curry, which was nicely spiced, with good sized chunks of chicken, peppers, pineapple, with rice on the side– sublime! Dessert was wonderful, with the highlight being a hot coconut custard, served in three small ramekins. And the best of all? All this cost only $ 40 a couple! It is byob, so, if you choose, you can bring whatever wine or beer you want to complement the great food. Service was great, we never felt rushed, and were able to take the time to savor our meal. Do yourself a favor and go to this restaurant, it is well worth it!

The food was very good… pineapple fried rice just the way I like it and my husbands Chicken Curry was also wonderful. The spring rolls had what seemed like frozen corn in them… so we won’t be getting those again but the real authentic food was very, very good! We’ll definitely take out again!

Ordered take out for the first time tonight. Was excited to try a new Thai place as the options in the area are very limited. Very pleased to report that their food is simply delicious!!! We ordered papaya salad, seafood soup, drunken noodles and panang curry. Everything was top notch. We asked for food on the spicy side, and they got it perfect. Just perfect level of spice and flavor. The only thing that could’ve been better is their take out packaging. The lids on their containers are on the looser side, so the soup and curry leaked through the bag and got on my clothing while carrying it. Partially my fault as the bag tipped in the car, so didn’t take away a star rating. The flavors make up for this disappointment and I’ll have to be more careful next time. Highly recommend this place! We’ll be ordering again for sure. Keep up the flavors!

Taste of food is outstanding! Size of portions is okay for the price. My complaints is that their service is very poor right now. I’ve done take out pushing twenty times now(I know– sounds impossible but its true; its right behind my house). Some of the workers know very little English and seem to be first time business people. They are very kind, but they get easily flustered with both phone orders and dine in. This is for Ricky, who commented on my last post: So I’ve tried most of the popular dishes(curries, Tom Yum noodle, pad Thai, sampler platter, summer rolls) and I’ve enjoyed them all. My favorite is the green papaya salad. It just comes out great every time and there’s not too much iceberg in there– some places put too much iceberg to make it appear bigger. I also love the Pad Thai :) I usually do take out. Sometimes when I call, the phone gets passed around to two or three people and I have had to repeat my order a few times. It’s not going to stop me from eating here, but since I wrote the review I felt it was worth mentioning. Something to think about.

Best curry, best crispy duck, best Tom yum soup in Orange. I want this to be a review and not a tip so I have to write more. Small little place but we were really blown away by the quality of the food. And they deliver.

This has quickly become my favorite Thai food in the area! What three things do we usually look for in a restaurant? Food quality, good service and a price that is appropriate for what you receive, well, this place knocks it out of the park in all three respects!!! Thai food is known for its flavor, but they take this to a stunning level in all regards… The complexity of smells and flavors in each dish is unique and so appealing! The staff is super quick, knowledgable and friendly. They have a wide selection and a wonderful set of lunch and dinner combination specials that appeal as much to your wallet as the food will to your pallet! The small touches seem to matter on every dish, for example the appetizer sampler comes with SIX different sauces! You would not imagine this quality from this tiny little place in a strip mall… It is worth a try and like me, you’ll become a regular!!!

Great service & my Pad Thai with Duck was delicious! My husband ordereded the Lemongrass chicken and that was delicious as well. No bar but you can bring your own wine and beer. Everything on the menu was reasonably priced, we will definitely be coming back.

The food is excellent! The menu is extensive, so I didn’t know what to order. I decided to try the salmon pad Thai. It was delicious. Not too salty or greasy, and you can ask to have your dish spicy. The egg rolls were good! I had to have more than one. The Thai fried rice is also tasty. I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.

Let me start by saying that I found my new spot to eat out or to order takeout, with a very friendly staff and amazing good food this little restaurant deserves five stars. I will highly recomend the Papaya Salad as the flavor is authentic and delicious :-) their prices are fairly as for the portions are equally generous. The little restaurant is clean and cozy if you are looking for a hot quick bite I would highly recommend this little gem off the post road near the busiest shopping plazas in Orange/West Haven. Thai Spice you are awesome and authentic as you promised, thank you.

First. OK so apparently I’m the first to review this tiny restaurant. Thai Spice is a very casual Thai restaurant located on the Boston Post Rd in Orange. It would definitely be classified in the little hole-in-the-wall category. I found the staff to be friendly and the food to be very good. I’ve had my fair share of Thai food over the years and like I said I found the food to be very good. Plus I don’t usually order the staple dishes like pad thai or drunken noodles or even the colored curries so when I order(usually something obscure) it’s probably a good test of their overall food. I ordered the Pad Ped and it had just the right amount of heat to it. My server asked me how hot I wanted it. «I’ll take mine medium ma’am.» The two-person staff seemed to handle a lot of take-out delivery orders. I don’t know what it is with people and take out food. Sheesh I probably haven’t ordered take out food since my college days. Here’s my advice to the good people of Orange, get off your lazy kiesters and drive on down to eat your food. At a bare minimum your legs will get some exercise and your food will be warmer than if it was driven to your house. Thai food stinks when it’s cold. Overall I’d say this isn’t a place you would take a date, but it does make for a nice easy stop along the Boston Boston Rd after a day of shopping in the area.
