First review from mid 2015: Newly remodeled. Classic Chinese restaurant. Been here twice in three days! Latest review from Feb 5, 2016: The last two times we’ve been here have been awful. The first time about a month ago we stood in the entry waiting to be seated for approx 10 minutes. Nobody ever said anything so we left. Fast forward to today. Sat down at 6:10, waited a while before the waitress took our order. Not too long, but longer than the average restaurant. There were only three of us and we shared two combination plates; not very complicated. Then we waited. We noticed that other tables were also taking a while to get their food. However, there was at least one table that was seated, ate, and left before we were even served. I asked one of the servers(not ours; we hadn’t seen her in a while) to check on our food and she refused and started making excuses on why it was taking so long. One woman close to us left before she was served. She had been there for a similar amount of time. No apologies from anyone for all of the delays. I understand that they are busy but they don’t ever seem to know what they are doing. Horribly managed restaurant. The only positive is that the food is pretty good. But no Chinese restaurant is worth 1 ½ hours of my life.

When we first arrived in OC we were told about New Hings — a friend ‘raved’ about it… so we went — and having spent a good part of my childhood in Hong Kong, I agreed it was GOOD chinese food! And priced well. So we went back again. Second time, again… excellent(that was back in April 2015. Then around July we picked up an order, got home and we were UNpleasantly suprised. It was overcooked — greasy — and the lo mein was gummy and — just everything was disgusting so — it went in the garbage. We went back again in Sept and it was ‘ok’. Nothing to write home about. I get the impression that it depends on the cook — so… whichever day the ‘good’ cook is there, is the day you should go. I cant tell you which day that is tho. We havent been back since — I dont like playing ‘russian roulette’ with my takeaway. I like knowing if Im going to enjoy my meal before I drop $ 50 plus bucks :)

Took 10 minutes to get water. Then we ordered a lemonade for my daughter which can after our meal was served. Food was average. Service might be worst I have had in many years. Won’t be back to this place again.

Well, we thought we would try a new restaurant for Christmas dinner. This choice was a horrible mistake! If I could give it no stars I would. Granted they were very busy but it took over an hour to get our food, and when it arrived it was cold, and anything deep fried was a grease soaked sponge. The food was so bad, we didn’t even eat any of it. We went through a drive thru on our way home. It was a waste of two hours of our evening. Needless to say, we will never go back. We have since heard it is under new ownership, and most people have had bad food since the change in ownership

This is specifically for the pot stickers. Seriously. They are amazing. I could(and have) made a meal of just pot stickers. That’s what keeps me going back!

Will Portland ever get a really good Chinese place? Seems like they all cook from the same recipe book. This is a 3 star place, but in a town where the bar is pretty low. It’s spacious with decent service. The wanton soup isn’t good – the broth sucks. Orange chicken and general tsos are ok and will give you the fix that you need. Mongolian beef is standard, and you will probably not be surprised – not in a good way nor a bad way. I’ll probably be back, if my friends suggest it again, but IMHO, it’s just ok.

If I could give negative stars for this place I would, we waited at least half an hour to get out appetizer, of cold crab puffs, then another 45min for our food, while huge groups around us, that were seated after we ordered ate! The waitress told us over and over our food was coming, then we get the bill and they charged full price for everything, including cold crab puffs, the meal wasn’t bad, just the service… never ever will we go back

Crab puffs are good like the reviews say. Our server was very nice and attentive. We would come here again.

My favorite things here are everything! Great service and even better food! FANTASTICTIMEHADBYALL! Us Russians love Chinese food… Well food in general as we are used to oil and potatoe soup. Reminds me of the motherland but with electricity and less vodka… Will be back for sure

I have been here a few times now so I guess it’s time for a review. I have come to the conclusion this place is a matter of taste and depends on what you order. I am still figuring out the menu, my choices so far have been a 50⁄50 split between yum and blah… hence the three stars. The crab puffs may be the best I have ever had, the spring rolls… not so much. I do have to give a shout out to the general tso’s chicken, perhaps the best I have had. I will update as I go, until then I will keep playing the guessing game.

I’ve liked everything I’ve ever tried here. Service is always great too. Recent remodel added some charm and took away the divey Chinese food place look without changing how good the food is. Fast take out. My favorite Chinese.

Unfortunately I will never be coming here again. This was the second time I had an issue, and this time was unbelievable. I ordered my to-go order at 6:50pm. They said 30 minutes. I arrive there at 7:20 ready to pick up my food. Long story short I waited and waited while I watched other unhappy customers finally get their orders before me. They kept asking me questions as if I had not even ordered at all, but then others told me my food was coming right out. I waited over an hour!!! And then she came back to tell me that they had given someone else my order but that they would start cooking my order… I am very nice and polite so I tried my hardest not to scream or yell. I just said forget it and she tried to get me to stay by telling me she would take off my bbq pork(my time was not worth the couple dollars she thought was just) so I left, with all my anger and curse words held in my head. I called on my way home to tell them it was not enough to offer a cheap item like that for such an aweful experience. So she said it would be another 30 minutes for my food, but to please come back and I would pay only half. I had my father go this time to pick up and the lady tried charging him the full price. I ordered at 6:50 and got to eat at 9:00… I had a four year old at home waiting to eat. Good food, but no better than pine garden(where I have never had an issue).

We’ve got take out from here repeatedly. We’ve stopped in and enjoyed their hospitality, and great food several times. But for some reason never reviewed it. The food was just fine before the remodel, and it’s just as great now The staff is always eager to please, and their food certainly does too. They are very timely when you arrive for pick up, 15 minutes means it will be ready in 15 minutes. When dining inside the staff is prompt to refill your drinks. It’s been totally remodeled recently and it shows, it’s actually one of the nicest Chinese places I’ve been in. The prices are in line with any other place. Check it out!

New Hing’s is new! If you haven’t been to New Hing’s for a while things are definitely new. The restaurant has recently remodeled. Previously it had a cut up floor plan, with a dive bar feel, really good food, and a really clean place, but a dive bar feeling, and needless to say dim lighting. Some miss that, my feeling is if you’re going to be a dive bar… be one. The Trails End Saloon has that wrapped up in Oregon City, so why compete with that? The new New Hing’s has an open, well lighted area. The restaurant is clean, well lighted and has a serious full bar, and HUGE menu. The remodel has opened up the space and given them a new kitchen. This is still a local business and the people are really accommodating. This restaurant will make you anything you want. I suggest you tell your waitress what you like and have them suggest a dish. We are pescetarian(we don’t eat meat except fish) their menu is wonderful, as is their staff. We LOVE the S11 Kung Pao Scallops in hot(mild for us) sauce… Giant scallops, peanuts, veggies… Yummy, and lots of it. We have eaten in and ordered out, I believe the portions are similar(unlike some places). The food is hot and fresh. We have not had one dish we were not satisfied with. This is not a «fast food» restaurant, so if you want«American»(read Panda Express, or similar), you will not get what you usually get. New Hing’s is like homemade American Chinese food; Less deep fried and more stir fried. In closing, if you haven’t been to New Hing’s in a while give them another try. Talk to your servers, say what you like, and ask them to suggest a dish(especially the older lady that works the bar, she’s great). I ordered what I thought I wanted and then we were talking she realized I wanted something different and she ran back to the kitchen to change the order, no hard feelings.

Easily the best Chinese in Oregon City. We’ve eaten New Hing’s about 10 times and always thought it to be average at best. That was until we decided for the first time ever to actually go in and sit down! You see, we always ordered for take-out and ate it at home. Maybe it’s just common sense but the food was much better right out of the kitchen as opposed to boxed up and eaten 20 minutes later. The place had a recent remodel and feels brand new. They have a large, well-stocked bar and a very large dining room, in addition to a banquet room in the back. The men’s room was clean and had nice fixtures. We’ve tried many of their dishes and have always been pleased. Our favorite items are their potstickers and crab puffs. The food is worth 3 ½ stars, the recent remodel and friendliness of the staff earned a 4th. We will continue to eat at New Hing’s but will avoid the take-out.

It has been a very long time since we had visited New Hing’s. We used to dance, drink and listen to live bands at The Happy Lounge which was part of New Hing’s. The Happy Lunge is no more and the restaurant moved in to where the lounge was. The original restaurant they are remodeling. They still have a bar setup but no more stage and no more dance floor. It is more of a restaurant now since the remodeling was done in February. Parking is very limited to either on-street and parking meters until 5pm or a small parking lot with a dumpster for remodeling debris in it. The food was very good. My wife had a #9 which was a spicy dish and I had a Family Special I think it was called in the seafood section. We were impressed with the freshness and quality of the food. It took a little while longer than what we were used to for a Chinese Restaurant but it was worth the wait. Portion size was good and pricing was about average, maybe a buck or two higher. The tea though was not hot but more the higher end of warm and a bit weak. The atmosphere was nice and booths seem to be newer to go with the remodeling. The bar looked well stocked but again, they seem to be going more for the restaurant end instead of the drinking establishment that we knew it for. You can see the bar from the restaurant as not much is separating the two. We went mid-day, so neither side was busy and not sure how it is when a normal crowd of drinking and diners mix. They also have several TV’s with different sport channels showing in the restaurant part but no volume. In the bar they were showing«Bones» from cable or satellite. Thought that was a bit bizarre and perhaps a bit backwards, but we came to eat and not watch the tv… LOL. Overall, we were quite satisfied with the food, portion and atmosphere. If you have not tried it recently, you may want to revisit.

We are always looking for good Chinese food and we were happy we tried New Lings. Lovely restaurant, looks brand new but I understand that is because of a recent renovation. We shared the sweet and sour chicken, and foo yung. Tasted great with very good service also we will be back!

My family loves this Chinese restaurant. We love how it’s easy to call in and pick up. We do miss the delivery service. The Chinese here is great and the service is always great too. However, it’s kind of a dark restaurant… And isn’t the nicest feel but we usually just pick up and eat at home.
