A quaint little shop that is part of the library. We came after brunch to get our espresso fix. The friendly team works in a modern but nice layout. A very nice alternative to Starbucks.

This is a great coffee house with great outdoor space. Workers are really nice. It’s nice that it’s not a chain coffee shop.

I’m shocked at how many good reviews there are of this place! Two stars given because it’s not McDonald’s or Wendy’s. They have a handful of sandwiches, and only the grilled cheese is vegetarian. It’s Orinda, can we have a couple of veggie options? The grilled cheese contains two slices of soft bread with a little bit of melted cheese inside. Let me clarify, there’s no grilling done to this sandwich. I’m not quite sure how they get the cheese to melt without the bread touching a pan/grill, but they do. I also ordered an espresso brownie and a lemon bar to share with my hubby later on. We were both so disappointed in how unexciting the espresso brownie was. The lemon bar was a little bit better, but definitely not worth the $ 2.75. P. S. Never going back.

I am a big fan of this place. It is right underneath the Orinda library and a short walk from the Orinda Community Park I frequent for work. Whenever I take the children I take care of to the park, I like to stop by here if it is a little chilly and order a Chai Tea Latte. The Chai Tea Lattes are very good and reasonably priced in my opinion. The baristas work quickly and offer wonderful customer service. I always see people in here working on their laptops or enjoying delicious looking sandwiches. Large Chai Tea Latte $ 3.75

Been coming here for about six months. This place is a great little gem next to the library. Wonderful coffee, very smooth. They only use Illy coffee. Yummy baked goods and awesome sandwiches with real meat and cheese not that processed stuff you find at other places. The people that work here are very nice and friendly. Inside and outside seating; I’ve seen several people sitting outside with their dogs. Lots of parking places for your car or bike. Inexpensive too, I usually get a half sandwich with cheese added and an iced coffee for only about $ 7.

I had a pleasant experience here. There was nothing mind blowing about this little café, but they make decent sandwiches and they have Illy coffee. The small town, family-friendly ambiance is a nice touch. I would go here again if I were in the area.

HORRIBLESERVICE!!! I asked for a decaf and they said it would be 2 minutes to finish brewing. After 10 minutes of waiting(I timed it) and many people being served before me I asked for a refund because I got tired of waiting and the same lady who took my money said«for what?» I said for the coffee I never got. A waste of time!!! There are plenty of other coffee shops that won’t forget to save their paying customers!!!

I love this place. I always get the blended mocha and their mocha bar. Both are my first choice every time I go during warmer months otherwise I get their brewed coffee or hot mocha. I found this place from searching Illy coffee around the Bay Area and this café was the first to come up on my search. I love it so much that I’m willing to drive from Concord to Orinda. Plus the bonus is it’s just right next to Orinda library.

Small café near the Orinda public library. Excellent cappuccino!!! The only place I have found so far with Illy coffee on the East bay. Also very clean and nice looking place.

I love the pesto and mozzarella sandwich! The place is a bit small and a bit noisy, but I can’t get enough of the food. The staff are really nice too. The coffee is good too. Smaller than average. Price is a bit high for me. But I still like it here. :)

I had just completed a training nearby and had a little time to spare before meeting a friend for lunch down the street. I went for a short walk and then found myself here. They have wifi, functioning air conditioning, soothing music, iced coffee, and water in a big dispenser thing by the door. All the things I was looking for that particular day. If I didn’t already have lunch plans, I would have been tempted by the delicious looking sandwiches being prepared and served quickly to the folks next to me.

Very good venue beside the Orinda Library and park, with invariably friendly but unobtrusive staff. Food is decent but unremarkable, coffee drinks above average.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place! It’s conveniently located under the Orinda Library, a few steps away from the Orinda community center and the park/playground. Basically, a lot of people deal with kids in this vicinity, so coffee in a walkable distance is perfect. There is the owner guy who is usually there. They have a yummy selection of baked goods such as lemon bars, mini cheesecake-looking things, cookies, cupcakes, SWEETSTUFF! They also have bagel sandwiches. I like the hot chicken sandwich on an everything bagel. I believe they have breakfast sandwiches too. They brew Illy espresso. To me, the coffee/espresso flavor is very light. But caffeine is caffeine… :) I always get a «mocha Bianca». It’s alright given the nice location and price. I love whip cream, and they don’t have good whip cream here. Also, I’ve had a blended mocha Bianca and it wasn’t very flavorful. Basically: it’s a good little café when you’re on the go or have a few minutes to spare. Parking: anywhere near the library or community center is a good idea!

I am falling in love with this place! Friendly service, clean space, overall great atmosphere. Highly recommend the roast beef sandwich. To the previous comment below about the roast beef sandwiches – I’m sure they sold out because they are DELISH. And I’m glad to know they don’t have an endless supply of roast beef – horray fresh ingredients!

Went in for a late lunch around 1pm. I wanted a roast beef sandwich but was dissapointed when they told me they were already sold out. really?! If your a café that makes sadwiches. I would think that roast beef is the one to be fully stocked up on. Anyhow I settled for a tuna melt. I didn’t get a chance to try any coffee. I would say I’ll try next time but I highly doubt there will be a next time for me. Just for the fact that you sold out of roast beef by 1pm. not too great for a spot that really only makes sandwiches. Otherwise, café was bright, food was decent and staff was nice.

Free wi-fi! The drinks are smaller than Starbucks, which is what I like! I seriously don’t know how people can finish their venti. It’s HUGE! I also enjoy the fact that they designed a leaf out of milk on top of my mocha. Little attention details and friendly small town service makes Caffe Teatro LIbrary a keeper! I’m coming here instead of Starbucks, unless my carmel macchiato cravings kick in, of course.

Sadly, this place is no longer a caFÉ. Just a café. Gone are the friendly baristas who know my little niece’s name. Gone are the large cookies in a variety of chocolate chip flavors, replaced by small, stale, discount store boxed chocolate chip cookies. We’ve stopped our weekly visits for treats, opting for a different venue in Orinda Village where you can still feel the«mom and pop» quality of food and service. What happened, Caffe Teatro?
