Typically when you walk into a subway it smells incredible, not so much with this one. I am giving 3 stars because I did go in pretty early, 7:30am, and the counter lady was EXHAUSTED looking. I mean, I’m a barista so I am a little biased, but it’s a part of your job to be cheery no matter what time it is. The sandwich was bleh, the Italian bread tasted like plain white bread and she kinda just plopped some mayo onto it.

It’s a subway. what do you want. It lives and breathes by the quality of its employees and the employees here are absolute tops! Consistent fresh veggies and bread and a girl who knows what she is doing and is a wonderful person.

My review should be a 2.5 but I couldn’t find it in me to round up. Pros: it’s clean, service was fine. Cons: Eat Fresh? Not at this Safeway, it’s Eat Leftovers. The cucumbers and tomatoes were obviously from the day before. I got a veggie– yea no meat– and it was $ 7.63. By the time I found out, it was too late. It’s a narrow space, but my main complaint was the real deli prices for Subway. I won’t be back. It was a very disappointing moment at the cash register. One other weird thing– the bread was good. At other subways the bread is about 30% styrofoam for whatever reason.

Friendly staff and owners, always been fast service whenever I’ve gone there, clean place, fresh ingredients, nice and convenient location in Theater Square. Other than that, I dunno what to tell ya… Subway is Subway. I’m adding a star to help offset all the entitled reviewers who expect white tablecloths, concierge service, and boot kissing attitude for their 4 dollar subs.

Haven’t been to subway in a long time and biting into a ice cold meatball sandwich wasn’t very pleasant. Even though they made me another sandwich the attitude and tone of the workers was unbelievably rude. Never wasting my time and money at this place again…

There are 2 employees working. 1 eating behind the counter to the left and the other with a friend at the table. We all need to eat but at the same time and it’s not the 1st time. So why am I writing this now vs the past? 1 simple reason. I pass by subway in Lafayette and the lines out the door. I have 5 min to get my wife lunch in Orinda. So I figure ok I’ll just go to the Orinda store. I get there to find out that they are not honoring the $ 26 inch sub. Based on the past and now this I see why the customer come after the employees. I should have just waited in LAFAYETTE. They have a excellent crew. Always happy to see you and put you first plus they have this month’s special.

Location is great and clean… perfect during lunch time not crowded. Food subway can’t elaborate on that… salad is great though. Next to Starbucks…

Worst subway experience, when I first walked in the lady took my order sitting down under a fan by the tables then the bread was stale not only that but seems like all the ingredients had been there for days, not even the soda was ok tasted like they have never cleaned the fountain. I will never come to this subway again.

I am very disappointed that the jalapeño bread I requested was stale. I thought they pride on fresh bread but that’s not the case. I will not be returning to the orinda subway. I hope they address this ASAP

Subway is Subway, the food never really alters in flavor. I always get the same thing when I go to any Subway, so I can recite my order in my sleep. I’ve been to this one many times and the service ranges from awesome to really crappy. There’s one employee that I really love and she’s so great with customers, and very cheerful. The rest of them all look like they hate their job and would rather be picking up elephant poo at the zoo(LOL). I get the veggie sandwich with no cheese and non-toasted, meaning I am asking for minimal effort on part of the employees. I always ask for spinach instead of lettuce. I’ve had some employees literally put 20 leaves on the sandwich(for a footlong). Every time I ask for more spinach, they all act as if it’s such a huge deal(except for the one lady) and begrudgingly add maybe 5 more leaves. I just don’t get it– I’m literally paying for the veggies and they don’t even want to put them on! I’ve learned to ask for double spinach and no lettuce to make it clear that I want a lot of spinach. What really gets me is that I’m a very cheery person and always walk in with a smile on my face. I’m polite and always make sure to ask how they’re doing, and say please and thank you, and just try to interact with them. Some of the employees just stare or give little to no response… RUDE! As much as I’d love to give a better rating, I don’t think the employees deserve it. The food itself is what I would expect, but the service is sub-par. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of one is because of the one employee that actually seems to care about her job. She makes the experience worth it, but I seriously feel like walking out sometimes if she’s not there.(I unfortunately forgot her name… oops)

I’ve been here a few times. Service is ok or pathetic. The other day a worker added some fixings to the sandwich after mine, and the client didn’t want the lettuce, etc. I didn’t like that. Also, the worker was trying to manage 3 sandwiches and failed… They don’t have raspberry iced tea which is my favorite drink. But it’s Subway in Orinda. Good enough to fill your tummy when you’re in the mood.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Without a doubt, the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I went into the store and placed a LARGE order for 100 people for pickup the following week. I called a couple days later to confirm the order and pickup time and they had no record of the order. So… I called later in the day to talk to someone else and the person I spoke with took a new order and assured me that it would be taken care of. I went in the day before my event to pay for the order and… NORECORDOFTHEORDERAGAIN!!! I told them that IF they ever found the order, just cancel it. They lost my business and hopefully this review will tell others to go elsewhere for their needs as well. I placed the order with a different business. They will never see me in their store again.

There is a really weird girl that works there. I went in one day on my way home in the afternoon & as soon as I walked in she asked me «who are you? You aren’t one of my regular customers. I refuse service to you, she(her co worker) can make your sandwich». While i was talking to the young lady who was making my sandwich, the weird rude girl said«pay me now!; Do I look like i’m joking!» I responded saying«kind of «…A customer in line said to me, «i’ve been supporting her for the last four years here, be careful«. I will never go back to this place. I don’t eat fast food that much, but when i do i prefer a subway sandwich. It was probably just me but i wouldn’t recommend anyone else to this subway.

This place is horrible! I used an application on my phone called Gyft that recorded the 16 digit number on the Subway gift card that i had received to «PAY» for my meal. After the sandwich was made i went up to pay and she told me she did not know how to manually enter a gift card number. Excuse me?! Then she told me the system does not allow her to manually enter a gift card number. So which one is it? You don’t know how or the system does not allow it? Obviously she is covering up some lie. Anyways, she called up her«store owner» and spoke in her native language to him and then she hangs up and tells me «yep, it does not work». Bull crap! Then she took the sandwich away from me and told me sorry. And walked away like nothing happened. I asked to talk to the manager and she told me she was the only one there. REALLY?! If you are looking for horrible customer service and people who do not care about you then this is the place for you. Otherwise, just stay away and go somewhere else. I left hungry and pissed off. This place sucks. I give it one star because there was at least one person there to take my order.

Ok, never thought I’d write a review for Subway since they seem all the same, but the service at this one is stellar. The woman working here is so friendly and I loved that she actually tried to talk my little guy into getting more veggies on his sandwich. Mr. «no green food» wanted ham and mayo, so she talked up all the non green veggies for him and almost swayed him! She seemed like she was happy to be there and enjoyed her job which is more than can say about the typical Subway worker. The rest of my family had sandwiches, and I had the chopped salad. The salads at Subway used to be blah– basically sandwich fixings without the bread, but now they chop it all up with a pizza cutter so you get a lot of flavor in each bite– a little pepperoncini chopped up in every bite goes a long way to a tasty salad!

If you don’t know… I hope you are blessed with patience. I had a 2 star rating for these guys until they got to know me, and then started hooking it up. The first couple of times they skimmed me on the veggies. I mean hook a fellow Indian brother up! After some extra visits, they became really awesome. Even told my boss to give me a raise lol! So overall they deserve an honest 4

On nov 62011 we stopped at the subway at theater square in orinda. Our family stops at this one often after visiting Tilden park. We ordered meals and when I went to fill my drink there were no sugar free choices. I asked the girl about this and she said«drink the tea.» I explained the tea was sweetened and I am diabetic at which point she said«people in this area do not drink diet soda so we no longer offer it.» I said if you are going to charge people for a drink you must have a sugar free option like unsweetened tea etc as many people drink sugar free even if they are not diabetic. She then told me to drink water from the soda machine. Again water is not a problem but I am not paying $ 1.69 for tap water. This girl was very argumentative. I did not want to have this exchange with her. I was with my family on an outing and just wanted what i had paid for or a refund if no drink was available. At this point my adult daughter who was sitting with my grandson came to find out why this girl was talking to methiss way. We will not patronize this subway again. Noone should be talked to this way when they are a paying customer trying to get what they paid for. Please instruct your employees with additional customer service training.
