Today is Halloween and I went to this location to buy a gift– this review is not about their inventory but their customer service. The lady in charge of the store during night shift was shocking rude and racist. It’s obvious that this lady has no idea of the meaning of diversity and she is intimidated by people with accent. When I was checking out, I asked about a coupon shown in the official P1 site, she was totally rude explaining that wont be apply at the store. After I asked for a gift wrapping, she said it was a dollar store by the street so I could find something there. She has the actitud of a bad girl all the time she was«helping me».Never looking me directly. My question is how far this lady can get away with this type of behavior — pier one management: you should scan your personnel before hiring to make sure this no happen. I won’t visit that racist store again, maybe other locations.

Pier One has a lot of stuff!!! I don’t recommend anyone buy furniture from this store. We bought a couch here. It was priced about $ 880 and discounted to less than $ 400. We spoke with the manager of the store who gave us an even further discount. Happy customers, right? So we thought. After a few months, the couch collapsed/cracked. Upon further inspection, my husband noticed that this couch was held together by heavy duty staples and its frame was made out of wooden slats. P1 was asking over $ 800 for this extremely poorly made furniture? How sad. I feel really bad, angry and cheated that we paid over $ 300 for this rubbish. This couch wasn’t worth $ 50. Honestly, we were better off going to IKEA or a thrift store. I’m sure we could have found something much better for $ 300.

The only close-by Pier 1 since the one in Matteson turned into a mattress store, and I think it’s a liquor store now, but ANYwho, try walking around in this store and see how many objects you don’t bump into. It’s my favorite game. However, we got a great deal on a wooden trunk here. On sale, AND the salesperson helped us carry it to the truck!

We have recently redone our kitchen and bedroom. It has been fun but it has also entailed a lot of running around, looking at different places, checking out what I liked and what I didn’t. Oh, and did I mention I am trying to do this on a budget? Enter Pier 1 where I got a terrific clock for the kitchen and a funky nightstand for the bedroom. Both on sale, both in stock and both with great assistance from the helpful clerks who work here. One lady was so friendly that I wished I had met her in a different circumstance, we could have gone out for coffee. If you are looking for something a little bit different without breaking the bank, check out Pier 1. You can get a bargain without having to fuss with coupons. Call me, I will meet you and we can both invite the clerk to coffee.

Malana nailed it in her review on all counts. Listen, Pier 1& I are tight like tigers – or at least we used to be. I’ve been known, yes, to get geeked out by their immensely awesome inventory. Admittedly, I’ve dropped a pretty penny or two at this very location. However, my «quick trips» to P1 will probably now be few & far between. Sad face. Listen, Pier 1… it’s time to get with the times & work on your«accessibility» issues. As a mom of a three year old in a wheelchair, the general set up – and sheer amount of «stuff» packed into your awesome store? It’s not gonna happen for anyone with an «advanced» wheelchair. My daughter’s chair is huge, heavy(say, 85 lbs?), long and bulky. While I travel and shop with her extensively, I know places where I can hack it – and those I can’t. Can’t hack it in your store, no matter how much I may adore it. I hope you’ll reconsider the manner in which your store is displayed; I’d really like to keep Pier 1 as one of my «regular» haunts.

This is a tough review especially because I absolutely love shopping at Pier 1, but there are two words that this store is not and those words are: *Handicap Accessible*. Which means it’s also going to be a tight squeeze for you mother’s out there who might own a clunky stroller! Now, I have experience as a store manager in a retail setting and I know that sometimes – try as one might sometimes there isn’t any way around it when you are trying to fit. However, having a parent who loves your wares but has to be on four wheels whenever she visits is very difficult. Especially when the handicap accessible cash wrap is covered by new merchandise, etc… etc… This doesn’t stop us from going to this location, but I think that if more people say something about this issue and it were resolved that they’d get increased traffic and an increase in sales. Just a suggestion.
