The one star is because this restaurant has closed. So sad!

Sorry but The Pita Oven closed its doors. I’ve asked around and they didn’t move. Sad… this place was awesome… but that apparently doesn’t pay the rent.

Please open up somewhere else! You are the only folks around here that understand and don’t shy away from flavor! Please, please don’t give up! Your food is amazing.

I have figured out what I dont like about Middle Eastern food. Tahini sauce ruins it for me! Good kebabs and pita.

Hummus. wonderful flavor. now way boring at all. The bread(pita) is light and fluffy! Great Baba ganoush. I got the combo plate. The rice was boring, but everything else was delicious! I will be back.

Coming here today was a very happy accident! My husband and I love middle eastern and have been looking for a place to go close to home. I went today with my mom but will be sure to bring him back. I had the falafel sandwich and it was awesome. They had great flavor, texture and size. P. S. you can buy them by the dozen. The sandwich was stuffed with cucumbers, tomatoes, sauce and other vegetables. My mom had the lamb and adored it. We were also given an order of hummus, pita(the softest, fluffiest pita ever) and assorted vegetables. A very generous amount of food at a very fair price. I can’t wait to come back and try almost everything else on the menu.

I’m a big Pita Inn fanatic and have been looking something like it close to the SW burbs. I found this place on Unilocal and I’m so glad I did! I’ve been here a couple of times and the shawerma sandwich is delish! This place is definitely worth trying out. I can’t wait to try other dishes on the menu!

Fantastic, fresh food. Hummus was really great as was the falafel and kabob sandwich. Best hummus I’ve had in the city! I will be back regularly with friends and family. This place is clean and simple. No frills, but having a working bakery on-sight is fun! The food prep is a bit slow for the lunch time crowd, but well worth the wait. I’m willing to wait a bit if the food is freshly prepared and right off the grill — and it is! Bravo Pita Oven! A touch of air conditioning and a menu on the wall will make you almost perfect!

SOSAD! Went to go fulfill my craving for this place the other day and they have closed! What a shame! I’ve eaten here about 5 times now and every time the food and service has been amazing every time! Best pita bread I have had and it’s always consistent in its freshness because they make it there every day. Love the hummus and baba ghanosh… best baba ghanoush I’ve had as well as the best falafel. The people working there are always really friendly too. I am really happy with the Pita Oven and thankful to have a good middle eastern restaurant in my neighborhood!

As authentic as it’ll get! BEST Shawerma sandwich I’ve had in America, I might even say their on par w/shawerma sandwiches from Egypt! You just can’t go wrong with this place. Be sure to try their hummus… deeeeeelish!

I think this is probably the best Mediterranean restaurant in the suburbs. The falafel has real character. with a complexity of flavor unexpected in a low-key place like this. The humus tasted like something, not the bland paste that is usually passed off as humus. The food is not a dumbed down version, but very close to the kind of food you’d find in parts of Israel and Palestine. The owner is friendly and helpful.

I found this place on Unilocal, and I’m glad I did. It’s so refreshing to see a good pita place in the barren culinary desert that is the southwest suburbs. The owner was very helpful and friendly, and the food was very fresh. we ordered chicken shawarma, and kifta kabob, which is made of lamb. both were very tasty, and the pita was fresh, as they bake it on premises. we also had foul(fava beans with olive oil and teboulah salad. i will definitely be going back. this place has been open a few months. i would encourage all of you who live in the area and want to continue to see good food in the area, to go and try it. now if we can only get some good chinese, thai, indian restaurants in southwest area…

Been here a few times, best item is the beef shawerma. Hummus is good too. Service is a little slow. I think they still need sometime to adjust.

Needs more flavor. The chicken shawarma doesnt take very flavorful. The fresh bread is good, but thats about it.

Realized there’s not many people reviewing places out in the SW ‘burbs… I don’t like seeing a small number of reviews done by people that have not done many since it doesn’t really represent truly how a place stands up. Luckily, this place does deserve a good rating(although not 5 stars like a few people put. 5 stars is as good as it gets and should be used sparingly.) This place is a solid 4. The food is good and the price is decent. Especially liked the beef schwarma as they did pack in the meat which was really good itself. Will be back to try their other foods, but am a fan so far…

Went here on a Sunday night because they are open late. Not only does this place smell awesome when you walk in, but it also has a super market area where you can buy some groceries as well. The kabobs look really good. We ordered their the Beef Shawerma sandwich. The meat is very tender and well spiced. They also give you a VERY generous portion for $ 4.99(with the combo, it’s $ 6.99– this includes a drink and fries). I like the fact that they cut the pita open and fill it up rather than having it like a gyros style where the lamb meat is on top. It makes it a lot easier to eat. I looked over at what other people were eating at the table next to us and it also looked VERY good. I am looking forward to trying the Chicken Shawerma, kabobs, and some appetizers off their menu in the future.

This place has the right idea… but implementation is not so fabulouos. I’ve been there twice now and there is nothing that makes me want to go back when I could easily drive an extra 5 minutes down 159th and go to Pita Wrap. The young girl who is on staf at Pita Oven is fairly spacey. As I sat in there eating today, another patron asked«doesn’t salad come with my dish?», to which the girl shrugged her shoulders and turned around to ask another co-worker. She’s done a few spacey things like that in my presence during both visits. I’m all for family run businesses, but please — have educated staff. Now, on to the food. The food is fine… it’s average. I had to ask for my pita to be warmed, and when it was done being«warmed», it had black patches all over it. They thought that was prefectly acceptable and handed it to me to eat. The lentil soup was ok, nothing exciting. I’m just not impressed with this place. When I go to eat somewhere, I like friendly people, good food, and reasonable prices. This place really needs to work hard on their organization and seamless processes from the time you order to the time your food is given to you. Having said that, I’ll still stop in here to grab some food if I am nearby and too tired to drive to Pita Wrap.

Pita Oven is a great little restaurant in Orland Park. I’m a medical student and was here for a rotation for the next month and I would stop by here for some excellent food. Hummus, Baba gonoush, Jerusalem Salad, and falafel here are some of the best I’ve had in all of Chicago. My personal favorite dish is by far the Kifta Kabob, which is some of the most delicious kabob and this is from someone who has had from all different parts of the world. I would highly recommend having the entrée that comes with rice. The chicken was good too but the shish kabob was only ok. I also normally get a falafel sandwich with a couple of scoops of humus, and some Jerusalem salad. I’m also not a vegetarian but the store is very vegetarian friendly with tons of veggie topics that are very fresh. The best part is that they also do catering, which is great for those tired of the normal pizza and spaghetti lunches that a lot of businesses. The owner Jamal and his staff are very warm and friendly and my own experience with the food was so good, I got him to cater for a group of about 30 physicians for a medical lecture. Everything for the meal was included and the doctors had rave reviews for the food. There was not a single empty plate at the end of the lecture and people stayed around after the presentation to get second and third helpings. The pharmaceutical rep who I recommended it too was thrilled I think, because people literally sitting on the floor to listen to her once people got word of the food. I would definitely recommend Pita Oven for anyone looking for a taste of something new, something fresh, and something delicious.
