So I bumped into this local bar b que location about 5 years ago while on vacation to Universal studious. This place is great have been back about 6 times since anytime we are in the area we stop by. The quality has not changed from time to time it’s the same great food. Employees are very friendly and always asking if you need anything else . The food… ribs are fall off the bone, chicken nice and juicy collard greens very tasteful, sweet tea is very country style. I really have nothing bad to say but continue the great work and I’ll will continue to come everytime I’m in town.

Wow. If this is 4-star BBQ, I need to open a joint in Orlando. I sampled beef, pork, ribs, chicken and turkey. The beef was billed as «Texas brisket». I’m from Texas. That was not Texas brisket. It wasn’t even brisket. It was a deli roast beef, thrown in a smoker. Same goes for the turkey and work. They were deli items thrown in the smoker. The spare ribs were well cooked and smoky but lacked flavor. The chicken was just a quarter chicken thrown in the smoker. Nothing fancy. Not even seasoned. Once again, just really bad barbecue.

The meat had no flavor. It felt like I was eating a roast beef sandwich. The sauces were good. I can’t call this place a bbq restaurant. It is far from it.

I ordered the two meat combo 17.00(ribs and brisket) they were both very delicious. What really disappointed me were the sides and the service. The servers came to ask me how my food was after I had completed my meal, my soda was dry for most of the meal. The Cole slaw was super dry and had no flavor. The Mac and cheese was okay. They give you two Texas toast but it was mostly oil. Not buttery or garlicky! I’m just going to stick with 4 Rivers BBQ next time!

Excellent service and solid food, but the fact that it’s not nearly as crazy good as some BBQ restaurants around the south means it only gets 3 stars. Appetizers: Fried corn nuggets and gator bites. Both delicious. Gotta agree with the other Unilocaler(s) who say the gator tastes like chicken. Dinner: Baby back ribs were tiny but fall-off-the-bone tender. Brisket was also tender. Both could have used a bit more flavor and a little sauce on both was definitely necessary. Fries were crinkle cut, probably frozen. Two giant slices of texas toast garlic bread which were surprisingly dripping with oil. Baked beans solid too. Drinks: They had 2 beers from Orlando Brewing(yay local!) and then your typical domestics and imports(e.g., budweiser and heineken). All bottled. But at $ 3 – 4 per bottle, it’s hard to complain. It was empty when we got there(8pm on a Thursday), so I can’t say what service and waits are like during prime time, but I also can’t say enough good things about the staff. Overall, I’d recommend if you’re craving BBQ in the immediate vicinity of Universal and aren’t a BBQ snob.

This barbeque joint located just off the main drag is a great spot for families visiting Orlando or the neighborhood regulars. Moderate prices in an area that takes advantage of tourism and good food makes this a good eatery. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich baskets and kids meals both of which we were pleasantly pleased. You order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. Drink refills are available and there’s table staff to assist. Indoor and outdoor seating is plus. Great staff and quality food made this a stop worth revisiting.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Had the combo consisting of the brisket and baby back ribs. The cole slaw was good, fries were hot and crispy, beans also were nice, hot and flavorful. The bread. Meh could do without. Good smoke on the ribs but thought it could use a little more sauce. The brisket was very tender. The sauces left something to be desired. I tried the mild, hot and killer. I normally dont eat spicy and didnt think they were spicy at all and lacked body.

You cant go out of town without having barbecue. Went to Unilocal to find the best local spot and this place didn’t disappoint, let’s get into the food. I ordered the pork rib plate(four bones) which comes with french fries, baked beans, coleslaw and garlic bread. I hate coleslaw and the guy taking my order was so cool, he let me substitue it for potatoe salad. Although I’m fron the east coast, I would like to think I’m a barbecue connoisseur. These ribs are tender and perfectly seasoned, you don’t even need any barbecue sauce. I had already eaten four bones, before I even realized it, because they were so juicy and tender. The french fries were your plain old crinkly fries but they had salt and pepper at the table. The mac and cheese(from the wife) and potatoe salad were subpar but thank goodness they only gave two tablespoons lol They gave two slices of Texas Toast and thank goodness the wife dont eat a ton of carbs, so I had double the servings! I didn’t eat the beans so I don’t know how they taste. The wife had the brisket plate with french fries, baked beans and garlic bread. The brisket was stand-alone good, didn’t need any sauce and it was juicy, it wasnt dry at all. The beans tasted like store bought bush beans, so nothing special, but they accomadated the meal perfectly. Appetizers: Cornbread. Since all the food came at once, I didn’t have a chance to eat it, but I took it home and ate it with ice cream and that hit the spot. The portions are large enough to have leftovers and another good thing about dining in is that there’s always someone walking around asking if you want refills for your drink. I got sweet tea and it wasn’t mislabled, it wasnt just brown water it was actually sweet tea. Bottom line, it’s in the top ten, but unfortunately we’ll be going home soon, so we won’t be able to hit them up again on this trip.

Alan and I stopped off at Bubbalou’s Bodacious Bar B Que tonight for dinner. We started with an order of fried dill pickles and they arrived at the table hot and sour! I ordered the Texas Brisket dinner plate which comes with crinkle fries, two slices of garlic bread, BBQ beans and coleslaw. I also ordered a side of cornbread. Alan ordered the combo plate with baby back ribs and brisket. The brisket was so tender and moist that it fell apart as you tried to eat it. I have never had brisket so moist even when I do my own! Alan inhaled his brisket and then started on the ribs. He said the ribs were good also. Looked like they were glazed. Alan had so much that he could not eat it all. The sweet tea was great but I forgot to ask for lemon. :( The cornbread was what I would call a good cornbread and it was muffin style. Overall, I gave them a 5 because of the brisket and also watching the staff work. All of these guys and gals were hustling! Kept the tables bussed and the floors swept! Greeted us when we walked in right away. The interior is a bit early grandpa’s attic and the tables are picnic tables with attached benches. They also have outside seating but it was too hot and humid to enjoy the outdoors.

Great local rib spot! Service is consistently good, food is great, and there’s never too long of a wait. Whenever I think of ribs in Orlando, Bubbalou’s always comes to mind. It’s not 5 star worthy, because honestly there is nothing special or unique about their food. However, it’s get 4 stars because I have never had a bad experience there and the food may not be awesome, but it’s always good. This location has great customer service. Staff greets you right when you walk in and the manager is always out helping along and talking to guests. Plus, they are very knowledgeable about the menu and give great recommendations. I’m biased about the taste and quality of the food, because I hail from the Midwest where we eat rib tips and honestly I think midwest ribs are amazing. With that said, someone without my rib eating roots may think Bubbalou’s food is great, to me they are good, nothing special. To conclude, if you want good ribs, great service, and a local rib spot to hit up now and then. Head to Bubbalou’s.

Genuine Florida BBQ. Brunswick stew: unexpected by welcome spin — beef not tomato base, good, salty. Cornbread: great, right texture, dab o’ honey, no butter needed, especially with aforementioned stew. Ribs: great. Well smoked, fatty in just the right place, fat reduced perfectly on the ends. Falling off the bone. Beef and pork — ok, sliced with a rotary slicer, like a roast beef sandwich! Chicken — great, juicy, skin smoked crispy. Obligatory Texas Toast was buttery, garlicky, and crispy. Held up to the meats. Sweet Tea and Pepsi — sweet tea was perfect; fresh brewed and two crucial lemon slices, ahhhhh. Sauces — typical 5 sauce collection, mustard, regular, hot, killer, and sweet. Sweet was best, others ok. Tables — benches, sauce caddy, paper towel rolls. All in all a great experience, the guy said they also occasionally smoke lamb too! I’ll be back, next time focused on ribs cornbread, and maybe beef with Texas toast.

It just didn’t live up to its reviews. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked into a clean restaurant with a lot of character. The décor is rustic country right down to the wooden picnic tables and is actually a really cute restaurant. The service was great. Friendly eager to please cashiers and waiters. This restaurant had everything you want in a BBQ joint except for great BBQ. The food was disappointing. I ordered a 2 meat dinner with spare ribs and sausage. Each meal comes with garlic bread, baked beans and coleslaw. The baked beans were watery but sweet and did have a lot of meat in them. The coleslaw was actually pretty good, fresh, crunchy, sweet and the dressing isn’t too overwhelming. The garlic bread was dry and not very garlicky. The sausage tasted like Hillshire Farm from the grocery store, nothing special and not too great. The ribs were supposed to be the star of the show and although they were fall off the bone tender, they weren’t good. There wasn’t actually much rib meat, it was mostly fat on a bone. Leaving here, I felt queasy from the grease and my tummy thanked me for not eating more of my disappointing meal.

wow this place is LEGIT. The fried catfish was absolutely to die for and so were the collard greens. I throughly enjoyed their pulled pork too and their spicy hot bbq sauce is to die for. This place is also super cute which is a bonus. I can’t wait to be back in Florida so I can get my hands on some bubbalous =)

The environment is awesome. They have family style picnic bench seating indoors and outdoors. The prices for the main entrees are fairly reasonable. We got the spare ribs, okra, fries, and sausage. The ribs were so tender and seasoned perfectly. There truly is no reason to add any sauces to the ribs. The sausage was good too but it was my as good as a few places in Texas. But they give you a good portioned size of meat. The okra was good. I would suggest getting some on your visit.

The Beef Brisket sandwich was so juicy and tender! Ribs were so good too. Beans were tasty with pork chunks in them. Prices were affordable. I wish there was one of these restaurants where I live. Place was busy with almost every table taken. Cold beer available also. Found this place by accident then Unilocaled it! Next time in Orlando I won’t forget to check it out again.

We’ve driven by this place probably 100 times and we’ve been meaning to come and try it, mostly after reading some of the reviews. First of all, let me warn you it’s not a table-side service restaurant. It’s more like a family style restaurant. You order, pay and go find a seat until your food is ready. The food wasn’t bad at all! My husband and I both ordered the baby back ribs dinner, and we got the ribs with two big slices of buttery bread, french fries, coleslaw and baked beans. We didn’t know we could sub the sides but later on I found out they have mac and cheese, green beans and else. I wasn’t too crazy about the fries… very plain and most definitely not made in-house. But the slaw and the baked beans we’re delicious! Going to the barbecue part, the meat was easily coming off the bone and it tasted really good, although they could add more sauce and flavor to it. That’s why I don’t give this place 5 stars. The staff is really nice and helpful, even without table service, we got employees offering refills. We will be back!!! But most probably to take the food home… I do recommend pick-up orders! Less hassle and you don’t have to fight for tables!

I love BBQ! But this was such a disappointment! I ordered the Large Sliced Pork Basket to go. The bun was large … but there was less than 4oz of pork, most of which was fat. The positives … the staff was pleasant and the baked beans are good. I won’t waste another $ 9 trying them again :(

Our family of 6 stopped in for dinner while on vacation. The restaurant is self-seat and you order at the counter. The restaurant had plenty of large picnic tables for big groups which was nice. We ordered corn nuggets as an appetizer to share which were delicious. The portions of all the food were very large. The pulled pork had a nice smoky flavor and so did the brisket. The sides of beans were good as well as the Mac n cheese. There were four types of sauces ranging from sweet to spicy, and all were tasty. Next time we are in town and have a craving for some good southern BBQ we will be back!

We did 4Rivers yesterday and Bubbalou’s today! We had: –babyback ribs dinner: good sauceless, came off bone easily, but needed sauce to get to that really great level –bubbalou’s combo: 4 meats, pork beef chicken and ribs. The ribs were the proper really big cut ribs, tasty. Chicken was chicken, good but nothing to write home about, a nice smokey flavor. Pork and beef were tender but thin slices, not the BBQ chunks you think of. All were good, but all also needed sauce –gator bites: overly breaded, tasted like chicken really –beans: sweet, well cooked, yum –coleslaw: I liked it a lot but I also am a sucker for slaw, rest of the party said it was good –drinks: truly massive cups, but yay for free refills! Broad statements, smaller portions for a BBQ place, especially for the rack of ribs, great ambiance especially if you want a place to eat during a football game, sauces made all the meat shine. For those going between this and 4Rivers, I’d suggest 4Rivers. Bubbalou’s is good, dont get me wrong, but not the best in Orlando.

Nifty BBQ shop. The prices were reasonable and selection large. I ordered the BBQ pork lunch special with fries. The food came out fast and hot. The smoke flavor was medium in the pork and the pork was moist. The BBQ sauces were good and it made it hard to decide which one to use. I do love a mustard base sauce so I used mainly that one.
