Sea World food is pretty bland and generic, so I was excited to see that Expedition Café offered a plethora of International options. Let’s start with the positives — the restaurant and dining areas were clean, and there was a variety of indoor and outdoor seating(though the indoor seating was not obvious, and we missed it until after we completed our meal). The employees were friendly, and I appreciated the plentiful options. Unfortunately, I found the food to be lacking flavor and tremendously overpriced. I ordered their pasta combo — precooked pasta with a spoonful of marinara sauce and a cold bread stick for $ 12? I don’t mind paying a premium for food that tastes good, but this was so disappointing.

I appreciated that the restaurant was versatile with respect to selections. The Orange Chicken and fried rice was good, but for one Spring Roll to cost $ 4.29 is unnecessary. However, the cockroach crawling around the dining area was a bit much.

Good option to eat here at Antarctica in SeaWorld. The food selection is better than anyplace in the park. They even have a Chinese section to choose from. Now that doesn’t happen quite often. And talk about southern style chicken — fried or baked. Yum! The kids choices are pretty decent too. I definitely tasted a spoon full of Mac n cheese from my nieces leftovers and it was nice! Other than that, they have the standard chicken nuggets that kids want no matter what the other options. There are picnic tables once you get your food and checkout. Enough picnic tables under shade. Plus quite a few tables and chairs under individual umbrellas. But what most people don’t realize is that there is an AC section past all these but quite hidden. The first time we dined there — we sat in the sweltering humidity outside at the picnic tables only to realize at the end of our meal that the AC seating area is much bigger and of course — cooler. Lesson learnt. Day 2 — we knew exactly where we had to go back and sit and eat.

I must commence this by saying I do not like Sea World food at all. I was hesitant to try this new offering but was willing to give it a shot, since it is located in the new Antarctica Area right in front of Empire of the Penguin ride/exhibit, and we were hungry. LOL The ordering process is very fast and organized. It is divided into three sections: Asian, Italian and Chicken. All sections are very well sorted with more than 5 choices in each individual kitchens. There are also many drink stations and plenty if outside and inside seating areas. We tried three dishes: Teriyaki Chicken with Jasmine Rice, Orange Chicken with Lo-Mein, and Fried Chicken with biscuit and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was very bland but the biscuit was to die for. The chicken was nice and crispy but very moist also. The Orange Chicken was moist, tangy and crispy. Just perfect with the lo-Mein, which was al dente and well seasoned. The Teriyaki Chicken was sweet and well balanced with the Jasmine rice. I was surprised with the Jasmine rice since it as very tasty and not overpowering. All in all, this is a great addition to the Food and Beverage offerings at Sea World.
