Awesome dive bar atmosphere but clean with outdoor seating awesome food — shrimp and grits, fish tacos! Drink specials, live music, great Sunday brunch — felt like a mini vacation to the keys! We will be back — often

When you first walk into Fish on Fire you’re greeted with a mixture of Florida themed visually interesting décor; muddled conversations with bouts of occasional laughter and smiling faces. Even though it was a Friday night, thankfully, the restaurant wasn’t packed so we didn’t even have to wait to be seated.(Well we did but it was because I was too busy taking pictures of the place,). The menu is mostly comprised of fresh seafood and is tasty. We both had the Charleston She-Crab soup which had a nice flavor but little she-crab. I forgot to check in otherwise, I would have at least gotten the soup for free.(Now you know, so don’t forget!) I had the Shrimp, Shrimp, Shrimp dinner. It was made up of fried shrimp, a grilled shrimp skewer and crab stuffed shrimp. All were very good. My husband and I both had the cheese grits. They were the right consistency(creamy and slightly thick) but needed seasoning. My husband had the fried catfish dinner which was cooked in wonderful southern style, the perfect blend of crunchy and crispy! It’s moderately priced and a good value for the money. They have a live band on some nights though they weren’t playing while we were there. The service is friendly. It’s a little off the beaten path but worth finding!

So this visit has been in the works for about 3 years. I was at the Amway Arena for a game and I was handed a pen that said Fish on Fire. The name just stood out. On and off the name would pop in my head when I wOuld be searching for a place to go for some fish or I saw the pen in a drawer. Today it finally happened. We sit down and the waitress asked us what we wanted to drink. After telling her our drinks of choice she said were giving away free hot dogs til 7. «?» Hotdogs? We ordered some gator bites as an appetizer. Well, curiosity got the best of me. I walked over to serve myself a hot dog that we shared. Guess what? That was a pretty damn good dog. Right after that the gator bites arrived and they were good. Not great. I’ve had better but it was good. We decided to order 2 Mahi Mahi fish tacos with beans and rice. We also ordered a dish called Shrimp, Shrimp, Shrimp. We shared all the food between the two of us. The shrimp dish came with 2 sides of your choice and garlic bread. The two sides we decided on were the steamed veggies and fries. The fries were delicious. I could not stop picking at them. The rice and beans were really good. Now for the main stuff. The Mahi Mahi tacos were light, the amount of fish, which flaked apart in your mouth was very generous and seasoned just right. As far as the shrimp dish goes it was down right great the skewered shrimp, crab stuffed shrimp, and fried shrimp tasted fresh and juicy. I’m definitely returning for a second helping. I was pleasantly surprised. The service was good, but also, I was there pretty early before any rushes of people arrived since I read the place gets packed by other reviews. Bottom line it makes you feel like your in the keys. Nice family feel. Pretty good seafood.

The food was okay. The crab soup was very fishy tasting but no fish. I had the tuna duo with its«special» sauce which turns out to be a doctored up soy sauce. Nothing so special about it. The collard greens were pretty bland. Had to add a lot of hot sauce to give it some flavor. However, I will say the service was amazing. Megan was my server and she used my name each and every time, always checking on me. Awesome service from her! It’s what saved this review.

This place was great! I came to Orlando on business and didn’t want to eat at a chain. I picked it because I liked the name. I had Amberjack(delicious) with Cole slaw and cheese grits. The sides weren’t that great-the Cole slaw had sugar or Miracle whip and the cheese grits were watery. The Amberjack had a «key west» seasoning and was grilled perfectly. BUTTHEN I had the home made key lime pie and forgot about the bad sides. It was heavenly!

Delicious, and cheap! A great spot for lunch, check-in with Unilocal and get a free cup of soup, or in our case she gave us one each — lobster bisque! It was pretty average but being free we can’t complain. Next we got alligator as an appetizer as we saw pictures of it, however it wasn’t listed on the menu as a app but they happily accommodated. Following that I had the fried catfish tenders, and my girlfriend bad the seared ahi sandwich. Both of these were fantastic and only $ 8 each! Topped it off with a couple of beer on fire draft beers and a white fish taco just to try and we were beyond stuffed all for under $ 40! Excellent spot, great atmosphere, prices, and a very good waitress makes this a definite return spot for us next time we’re back in Orlando!

Loved this place. Stayed in Orlando for one night and decided to try this place based on good reviews. We really liked the food and the atmosphere. There was a lot of different fish options. I have never even heard of some of the fish that they had on the menu. The food was prepared perfectly. The live music was great as well.

Wow, I fail to see what the big deal is here, Grouper fingers, eh. Alligator appetizer, ick. Yellowtail snapper, tasteless and Cajun burger loaded with salt. Slow service, forgotten side dishes… SKIPTHISPLACE.

Not a do-over. Cajun burger was overly salty. Cole slaw tasteless. Free cup of soup courtesy of Unilocal, was reportedly crab soup, but was flavorless. Fries were forgettable as was the Alligator appetizer. The promising road sign inviting you to partake, far exceeded the disappointing food attempts. Appealing décor though!

Last meal of our #toppers2015 #Orlando #florida trip had to be at another local spot! Had some #Gator #catfish and #hotwings at the highly #Yelp touted #fishonfire. This place was #AMAZING!!! Great food AND Hospitality!!! There was live music that truly ROCKED! The best part was apparently the lead singer used a little profanity while on stage(I didn’t hear it TBH). When their set finished he realized I had my kids with me, and on his own accord came up and apologized! Talk about a class act. We’re from Cali and not used to that level of courtesy. Way to go Orlando!

I love to listen to live music while I eat and I wasn’t disappointed. The atmosphere is relaxing, the people very friendly, and the food very filling. The place was packed and loud, but it didn’t distract me from enjoying the music from the band on stage. There are multiple large screen tv to watch various sports. The food was enjoyable. I had the pull pork and chicken with garlic bread and homemade cole slaw. Nothing too special but the price was right, and the portion served satisfied my hunger. It is a great place to get a bite to eat and have couple of cold brewskis! Definitely will be coming back.

Food here was nothing exceptional here. I’ve had a lot better of the things that I ordered at other places. We came here because it was next to the hotel we were staying for the night. The service started off terrible but was accepted as the place was hit by a wave of business as we arrived there. Later as things settled, we got good treatment and the orders came out promptly and correct. They make a stiff drink at the bar for a reasonable price. Ordered the Alligator basket. Could of been a larger portion I thought. Tasted good though. Smoked fish dip was just okay. Unless you are staying at La Quinta hotel– don’t bother traveling over here for dinner. I’m sure there’s better in Orlando for seafood.

This place was a great find for lunch. The staff was pretty friendly and timely with their food service; I had asked for their recommendation for lunch and they referred me to the Mahi Mani Reuban, which was a great choice. The meal I had was delicious. Overall, I give this place 3.5−4 stars. The best thing about this place is the staff and how fast they were able to get the food out for lunch. I can’t say the dinner experience will be the same. Hope you enjoy

2nd time here with wife this time. My first visit was on Greek Night and I enjoyed the food and drinks at the bar and wanted her to experience the place. Unfortunately this visit was sadly disappointing. Things started OK with appetizer and the Maryland Crab soup was good again. The beer was off or flat and waitress replaced it but still off. Then it went down hill from there. After talking our order, the waitress got seated a very large party out side and we barely saw her again for the night. food came out over cooked(ordered rare sirloin and it was medium. Waitress didnt even make it back to check on how things were. I went to the bar twice to get drinks and the waitress came in looking upset from the party outside. As I looked around the restaurant there were 2 other wait staff with only a couple tables and not very busy at all but neither stopped to ask if we needed assistance. We finished dinner and waited another 15 minutes before going to the bar again to ask for the check. The waitress then came back very apologetic and explaining the big party to us. While I understood the delay and situation, I mentioned that if she was overloaded it would have been smart to ask for help instead of leaving us stranded with empty plates and without drinks. I think there is a lack of management here and that is sad because the atmosphere and food is not bad but this visit will probably make me forget this place soon as there are so many other choices in the area.

If Guy Fieri was in the neighbourhood, he might stop here. It may look like a bit of a dive, but that’s just character. And there is a lot of character – the bar patrons were engaged in a live game of trivia. I was invited in, but I was on a fishin’ mission. It was a late dinner, so I started with the half pound shrimp appetizer, a big feed of fresh shrimp with garlic butter, heavy on the garlic and the Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna. I followed that with a special Unilocal check-in offer of a free cup of chowder, thick and rich with nice bits of clam. For the main, I ordered that rarest of seafood – chicken wings, in a sweet chile sauce. these were substantial wings, crispy and hot, with a nice coating. Normally, I would have ribs and wings, but seafood and wings? A great pairing, with a lot of manual labor to eat. I don’t think I touched my fork! Both the food and service were great. I came in hungry, and waddled out stuffed after vigorously washing the garlic butter and wing grease off my hands. Back to the hotel, and sweet dreams!

Yeah, you know, it is a good place. One of these places where you go without a lot of demanding. Food was good, certainly this is not a place where you go if you are looking for a top grade fish meal. Nice service, cool place, …good!

Update. We went back. The friendly staff is still here but the place looks so much cleaner, so much nicer; the food is so much better!!! It’s like it’s a totally different restaurant. It can be very very popular at night, so I’d recommend that you go on the off hours to get really good service– there’s plenty of outdoor seating which we thoroughly enjoyed
