No. Just no. The cupcakes are mediocre at best. The custom cakes(from what I’ve heard) are not great either. All I’ve heard are bad things about the cakes and about people having issues with the owner of the business. Clearly she does not know what she is doing and should not own a business. Not to mention the place is a dirty mess. When I went to get a cupcake there was a significant amount of fruitflies flying around INSIDE the cupcake case, and then a friend of mine who went here several weeks later said she walked in and saw a huge cockroach(and immediately walked out, of course). Gross. I’ve never seen such a bad business. I’m really a supporter of small businesses, but this place needs to be shut down for a number of reasons.

Yuck fest. As a participant in many cupcake crawls, I would say this place brought me to a stop. This place should be ashamed to claim it’s some sort of a bakery. They obviously don’t prepare any fresh cupcakes until they have completely(or come close) run out. I tried the German Chocolate cupcake and I guess if I found this cupcake any sort of delicious I would be thanking Duncan Hines, as this is clearly an out of the box cupcake creation. As a frequenter of amazing cupcakes like Sprinkles in LA and Billy’s in NYC, I think Glacie or whoever should run to a corner and hide(crying). Saying the décor could use work is an understatement as well. The only thing that saves this place was the 2 friendly girls who were working in the store. I give this place about 2 more months, tops.

I am a self-proclaimed cupcake aficionado… so my friend and I stopped in here to check it out. Glacie has to deal with a significant amount of competition… seeing as it’s across the street from Sweet! I gave it a chance anyways. They had a small selection of cupcakes ranging from simple vanilla bean to some fancier options like«Dominican cake.» My friend had the birthday cake and I had the vanilla bean. Both were soft and delicious! They were pretty simple looking and not overly large too. Just big enough to be satisfying. OK so this place lacks one thing… atmosphere! They had one small table to sit at and not much of a selection of beverages. I got the impression that their focus is larger cakes for events(weddings, birthdays) and that the cupcakes were kinda an afterthought. I think that if they improved their atmosphere and got a few more tables I’d be more likely to stop in and get a snack.

I just went to their website and saw that the cakes she has as hers are not hers at all! One is from Choux Bakery in Jacksonville, Florida! It doesn’t make sense to advertise someone else’s work as your own!

Sugar is my obsession and cupcakes are my addiction. You can imagine my delight and dismay when I discovered that there is new cake/cupcake shop in the Waterford Lakes/UCF area. Delight because there is now another place where I can go indulge and satisfy sweet tooth. Dismay because it’s not helping my efforts to ease up on the sweets. I have to admit, at first I was a bit skeptical about Glacie Cakes, especially since it’s right across the street from Sweet! and there seems to be so many places in the Central Florida area that cater to weddings and specialty cakes/cupcakes. However, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised when I was greeted by fondant-covered cakes, decorated in bright hues and fun themes. Their cupcakes selections seemed a bit sparse, but it was the end of the day so I will give them some slack there. As far as flavors go, the only one that stood out was the«dominican,» but when I was told it was nothing more than a vanilla bean cake with vanilla icing the appeal was gone. I decided to go for the«birthday cake,» which is basically yellow cake with vanilla buttercream icing. My friend went for the chocolate cake with vanilla icing. Both were tasty and instantly reminded me of baking cake with my mom as a child. However, the uncanny out-of-the-box taste was a little odd. It was definitely yummy, but I can’t say it was the best I’ve ever had being that cupcakes are something I indulge in more often than I’d like to admit. The establishment itself, on the other hand, could use a little help. I realize that it just opened and their concern is probably more on clientele and baking, but the inside décor is extremely sparse and drab. Other than the cakes, nothing about this place says«welcome» and there is only one small, black table with two chairs and NO seating on the outside. The glass case in which the cupcakes sit was a bit disappointing as well. There was no real presentation and«selling point» to the cupcakes sitting there, begging to be purchased and enjoyed. To be honest, the only thing that sets this place apart from it’s competition across the street, Sweet!, is the fact that they offer cake decorating classes and have quite a bit of space in which to execute them. Other than that, there is no need for Sweet! to worry just yet. Overall, I’d go here again for a cupcake, but they probably won’t be my first choice in most cases…

We were there right after they opened. Their carrot cake cupcakes were delicious. The décor wasn’t the greatest, but I didn’t go there for the décor. We’ll definitely go back again when we want cupcakes and try different flavors. The person that waited on us seemed a little unsure about what they offered. Hope they make it. As someone else said businesses on that side seem to have a more difficult time surviving. Good Luck!

A big fat«no» for Glacie’s, especially the cupcakes. Admittedly, I’m a cupcake snob, but even Sweet! across the street is ten times better than Glacie’s. Storefront: It seems as though they are still in the process of decorating and getting it together. There are a few barstools but it doesn’t look like much of a bakery. Hopefully they pull it together in the next few months. Cupcakes: If you’re going to sell cupcakes, please make sure you do not sell day-old, refrigerated ones. Not only were they awfully dry, but the tops were soggy — both characteristics of day-old or older cupcakes. The flavors were nothing astonishing or special. Instead of putting out sub-par cupcakes in assorted flavors, get the basics down first(chocolate, vanilla) and then add in red velvet, carrot and other assorted flavors. Cakes: I haven’t had a cake from here, but they seem to be on the spendy side. My friend inquired about the small, yellow, square cake displayed in the front of the store. The person working there said that one sells for $ 60. $ 60 for a cake for 4 people? That seems rather ridiculous. She said it was because of the intricate decorations.(Fondant covering and a white, fondant bow?) She said if it was plain it would be $ 30. Still way too expensive for such a small cake. Save your money, honestly. Go to Sweet! for cupcakes and Publix or other small bakeries for your cakes. Sorry, Glacie’s.

I have been here 3 times in 2 weeks. What? I like cupcakes. I went with Chantel and I seem to like it a bit more than she did. To be fair, she makes some amazing cupcakes as well, so she can be picky with her competition! I have only eaten the cupcakes, so I cannot speak for the cakes. The flavors I’ve tried: Tres Leches, Cannoli, and Pina Colada. So far I haven’t had a flavor I dislike. I agree with Chantel that they are bit soggy on top. Other than that, I like that they aren’t overly sweet and the icing isn’t 16 feet high like Sweet across the street. The presentation is cute, but they then smash them in the container when you get them to go. What if I wanted to buy some for a birthday? I would serve everyone smashed cupcakes? Also, the first time I went in, I was confused. It’s like they opened a month or two before they were ready. It is a huge open space with one cupcake counter and nothing else. Their ad said they had bubble tea(which is the reason I went to begin with… I was craving bubble tea) and they didn’t have any. They said the machine hadn’t arrived and a week later, they still didn’t have the tea. If I’m in the mood for a cupcake or hopefully bubble tea in the future, I will not rule out Glacie Cakes just yet.

Being literally across the street from Sweet! and in the eerily empty shopping center across from Waterford Lakes, Glacie Cakes has an uphill battle ahead of them. We stopped in at about 7:30 on a Saturday night, expecting them to be closed by then. We were immediately greeted by an employee who quickly apologized for the lack of options. There were about half a dozen types of cupcakes left, but she explained that business had been much brisker than they had expected and they had sold out of most of their flavors. While she tried to list off everything they had sold out of(we didn’t ask her to, she just seemed to be somewhere between really excited and apologetic), I looked around. It was mostly a big empty space that felt more like a custom cake place than a dessert bakery that you would swing by and grab something. To that point, they had signs advertising that they did custom cakes for events and special occasions. I suspect that that’s where they’re really focusing on. Even their website has bridal banner ads above their own logo. We chose a couple of cupcakes to take home: birthday cake and a white cake with pineapple frosting. They were bigger than the size you’d get at say Publix, but smaller than the ginormous ones at Sweet! They looked delicious. My wife ate her birthday cake cupcake first and commented on how good it was. I ate mine a little while later and it was delicious. The white cake was light and fluffy, and the pineapple frosting was flavorful and sweet without being pain inducing. I liked their stuff better than the stuff from Sweet! as it was lighter and fluffier. They’ve got the quality that could take them far. Here’s hoping they do better than most of the other businesses in that shopping center.
