The show as not what I was expecting. I was expecting a bunch of different demonstrations of horror make-up. There was only really one demo of horror, but wasn’t even make-up. I give it 3-stars because the show was very entertaining, just not what I expected.

I wanted to learn more about movie makeup, but this show is more of a comedy show than anything else. They show a couple of clips of movie makeup through the ages and they do show you some movie makeup tricks. But not much else. The hosts were hilarious! They also pick out people from the audience to make fun of. Don’t sit in the front if you don’t want to be picked. The show lasted about 15 minutes. It’s a good way to beat the heat and rest your legs.

This is a definite must-see when you’re at Universal for the day! What an amazing show. They go through horror movie history and show clips on the big screens while also demonstrating how the horror makeup has been achieved in different eras. Very upbeat and fun show. It’s only about 25 minutes but there are a ton of jokes, and it’s a real blast for the whole family. Kids or those who are not into gore may get queasy though! The blood and guts are all fake, but some may be freaked. I learned a lot and laughed even more!

Came here because Blue told me to! This was a super fun way to spend 30 minutes. Let’s face it, I don’t care how good of shape you are in. Walking around a theme park for hours will have your«dogs”– ahem– feet barking and your legs cramping up. That’s just the way it is. Seeing this show is a welcome break from the walking, sweating, and waiting in lines. The actors were funny and so entertaining. Being the nerd that I am, I absolutely love to learn… even on vacation! I loved seeing how Horror makeup has changed through the years. It’s really funny to see how what was considered state-of-the-art in the 80s and 90s is now obsolete. It gave me a newfound respect for folks in those fields. They have to be super talented to make you look like a scary monster in person and then add more CGI to you in editing to make the effects even more believable. Overall, do this. If you love it, it’ll be one of the most memorable times spent in the park. If you hate it, hey at least it was only 30 minutes of your life.

There is nothing horrific about this show. It is pure horror nerd goodness. I won’t ruin it with spoilers. I will say that the setting is perfection. Old Hollywood Fright glamour in a lovely theater. I could feel the spirit of Lon Chaney lurking behind the velvet curtains. We laughed through all the blood and creatures. Loved every single moment.

Entertaining! The two guys that do this show are really good and you can tell they LOVE it … which helps. They are full of energy and interact with the audience. It’s worth the wait.

This is a really neat show located in Universal Studios… It’s really cool to look at all of the memorabilia they have display in the waiting area. This show is fun and silly and the best part is it’s inside so you can escape the heat! If you haven’t seen this show I’d highly advise doing so.

It hasn’t changed since it’s inception, but the horror show remains to be great with witty hosts and interesting stories. Could use a bit of an update, but it’s kind of nice to see original Universal Studios 90’s stuff.

More fun than instructive. The guide likes to pick on young children and young ladies. Not too scary at all for children, basically just a short fun magic comedy show with a horror theme.

Even though this show has barely changed since I first saw it(what, maybe 10 years ago?) It’s still a super cool experience worthy of a perfect rating. It’s kind of crazy this is only one of three attractions that were originally in Universal Studios. The other two are E.T.(Which lets face it… is on it’s last breath) and Lucy: A Tribute(Which is still a solid experience, and the nice ladies who play Lucy around the park are always great!) When you walk in there is a large waiting room area where you can check out some awesome props from horror movies through the years, such as: Chucky, Hellboy, Psycho, Jaws, The Thing, and An American Werewolf. After browsing the lobby you are lined up and the doors open up the the theater. The show, once again is almost the same as it’s always been, is pretty entertaining. They have some cool insights into how they make horror films and sprinkle in some comedy to keep it all around fun. They have some parts with audience participation as well. All around it’s a must do in my opinion. Even if you did it many years ago, still give it another whirl. They’ve updated some of the props in the lobby and some of the clips they feature in the show through the years, so you might see something new.

Right off the bat, I want to tell you parents there’s nothing scary about this show. It’s actually really hilarious and they show you how they create some of the«monsters» you see in horror movies. So it’s perfectly fine to take your kids into this one. As a matter of fact, your kids will love it. They play to both kids and adults. They throw in a lot of underlying adult humor that kids don’t get. There’s even a part of the show where they poke fun at Disney. The«lobby» or «queue» or «waiting area»(whatever you want to call it) for this show has some really cool horror movie memorabilia to look at. Make sure you arrive early so you have time to take a look around, Seeing this show will also give you a nice reprieve from the heat. A very nice reprieve. The actual theatre is so cold that it borders on subarctic temperatures. I’m not kidding when I say my teeth have been chattering inside the theatre when it’s 110 degrees outside. How they keep this theatre so cold is almost mindbogglingly. I’ve seen this show many, many times; more times than I can count. It’s not very often we walk into Universal Studios and miss this show. The show is essentially the same every time, but even if it’s the same actors, you never know EXACTLY what they may say or do, so every time I see it I’m laughing as if it’s the first time all over again!

Anyone who knows me knows that when it comes to theme parks, I am very much team skip the shows and lets hit the rides… except for this one! We make sure to catch this show every time we go. Now granted there are little to no changes in the actual materials/format to the show, every show is different thanks to the great improv/adlibbing from the entertaining hosts. While the material may seem«scary» the show is far from it. My advice, get there at lease 20mins early to make sure you can get good seats together. And when you’re there early there are some neat items on display to occupy your time.
