I heard it closed down and opened as something else, sure hope they still have the pickle jars!

I LOVED Jax when it was downtown Orlando. It kinda has the same vibe here, but I can definitely do WITHOUT the cat size rats in the rafters that lived in the other location! They still have the great beer, atmosphere,… it’s just not downtown walking distance,… and that does make any restaurant more fun! It has a great selection of really great tasting sandwiches,. but if you know my reviews,… you know I am looking for craft beer! You can find it here YAY! If you are around this area,… and you are looking for a fun pubish environment with a decent selection of beer,… stop in,… :-)

Who woulda thought you could have a bar LITERALLY a stones throw away from a high school? Apparently this bar was there well before the school was built. Either way, it is fine by me. Swung by here for some end of the semester festivities with friends. Laid back bar with indoor and outdoor seating. Reasonably priced drinks and Hungry Howies right next door make this a prime place to grab a drink n some grub if you are near edgewater.

I love Jax and have been a regular for years. I usually go for happy hour but sometimes I’ll go on a weekend afternoon or a late night cocktail. Speaking of late night, they have a 2nd happy hour starting at 11pm. I only sit outside when I go to Jax. The inside is a little too loud and the atmosphere outside is nice as long as it’s not too hot or too cold. Needless to say, I don’t spend much time there in the middle of summer. They have a great beer selection, one of the best in town, their mixed drinks are not lacking in alcohol and you get free, delicious pickles! None of my friends or I have ever had any complaints about the food. If you like shrimp, you MUST try their shrimp salad! The sauce is so good, I get extra on the side to dip my chips in. If you’re a vegetarian, try the skid row sandwich(peanut butter, honey, bananas & granola on honey wheat). Actually, try it even if you’re not a vegetarian. Their only downfalls in my opinion are: 1) Not enough parking 2) The bathroom is only a one-seater and on top of that, they only have a hand dryer. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for saving the environment one paper towel at a time but when there is a line of girls doing the pee-pee dance on the other side of the door, you’ll never get your hands completely dry and will end up wiping them on your pants/skirt/dress.

I love Jax– though I’ve never eaten there. The menu looks good, but I’m more interested in the drinks. The bartenders and waitresses are sweet and the drinks are very reasonably priced. We usually come here as an end to the night and it’s always a good time. Also, $ 5 pitchers all weekend. Very friendly atmosphere.

Today I went with some co-workers to Jax’s for a lunch break during an all-day workshop. There were 10 of us, so we decided to keep it easy and sit 5 to a table and not be a large party, since we only had an hour to eat lunch. What a difference in service! We each had different waitresses. The other table had fast service from start to finish(drinks + food + checks), and managed to get out of the restaurant and back to the workshop with time to spare. Our table, had the other waitress. She came to take our drink order(all 5 of us just wanted water). That took 20 minutes. Then it took another 20 minutes for her to come back and get our food order. The clock was ticking, and I even told our waitress(very politely, that we were in a time crunch and needed to be somewhere within the hour). We were 3 minutes away from the workshop location, so travel time wasn’t going to be a factor. Finally, she took our order(by this time, our table neighbors already had their food and were halfway to finishing it). We waited an additional 20 minutes. So, it took 60 minutes to get our food, and we were late for our workshop. 3 of us got pizzas, while 1 got a sandwich and another got a wrap. The other table had a very similar order to ours, minus one pizza. The place wasn’t that crowded, and there were other large tables that came and went in the time it took us to get our food. We asked for the check before our food even came because at that point, we were late and asked the other table(who already paid) to let the workshop speaker know that we would be late. We decided to get our food to go and eat it during the workshop. Only once did the waitress come to our table(this was 40 minutes into the waiting by the way) to say«our food was coming», and even then, it took an additional 20 minutes. One of my coworkers went by the register and told the other waitress we needed to go boxes and to not bother putting it on plates. We then waited another 5 minutes as our waitress took her time putting the food in and out of our bags. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I walked over to her and asked for the bags and informed her(with all the patience I could muster) that it didn’t matter which food went where because we were going to the same place. People have been raving to me about this place forever, and it’s a shame because the pizza I had was pretty good(considering it was in a to go box so the heat from the pizza went right back on it making it soggy), but I’d like to think that the pizza would have been good on a plate. The service was awful to say the least. She hardly came to our table to check up on us and didn’t come back to fill our drinks. My advice, don’t go there for lunch(I went around 11:30 and left at 12:45) .Service: F Food: B+

Jax is the best bar in College Park for a great handmade sandwich with deli fresh cold cuts or savory flat crust pizzas. They also boast one of the most extensive beer selections in greater Orlando. Everything from your customary American light beer to the most undiscovered craft brew, and with 36 varieties on tap, any beer pallet can be satisfied. Jax also carries a full liquor bar with every type of potable one could fathom. If you are up for a shot you must try one of Jax featured shots. The service staff is some of the friendliest and most knowledgeable you can find in town. However, you must allow a bit more time when dining during peak service hours, as all the food is made to order. Their take on the classic Rueben sandwich is called the Wall Street, and is a great choice made with either the tangy deli mustard or the traditional 1000 island dressing. The absence of French fries can be disappointing to some, but in all honesty, French fries would not compliment any of the fare at Jax appropriately. And, more significantly, would leave a less then pleasant aroma emanating from the small kitchen throughout the establishment. One must remember that Jax was once another type of establishment less suited for food and drink. With a huge selection of beers, wide array of liquor libations, and a fresh deli Jax is a staple in College Park, if not greater Orlando, and must be visited. Did I mention they have a plethora of HD televisions with every sports package available?

Jax is a great dive-style bar to grab a beer and watch whatever sports program you want to watch at. They have pretty great sandwiches(my personal favorite used to be the Cool Hand Cuke), now I love the mediterranean one. They got a huge fail on the ‘pizza’. They used to have the best flatbread pizza — lots of great toppings, a decent size. We went back one day to find that the pizza toppings had been demoted to a pita bread round. Not ok. Other than that, I do love the rest. Good sandwiches, great beer selection and extremely reasonable.

Jax is a cool place in College Park right off of Edgewater. Their claim to fame is their extensive beer selection… which is pretty impressive. Their mixed drinks are of good size and strength, more so during happy hour. I bumped my rating from 3 to 4 stars for the simple fact that their kitchen stays open late! There was a time when I was at Jax nightly once a week following a gig down the road. We chose Jax over other bars in CP based on being able to order food too! The sandwiches are good. I prefer the french dip or the chicken cordon bleu. I also recommend their mini-pizzas! Inside can get loud at times, but the TVs are better than outside. The outside area can get smokey at times, but better for large groups. The service has always been pretty decent.

Jax is the type of place you want to go with good friends, a game to watch and a belly to fill. Parking is always tight so if you anticipate a crowd, go early. And if you can bear the Florida heat, sitting outside under the covered patio is nice; there are fans and TVs to keep you company. Should you want indoor seating, the options are slimmer. It’s not a large place and it tends to fill up quickly. That includes the bar as well. I was only there to watch soccer so I can’t say how the food actually tastes but I can say it whet my appetite. And as other Unilocalers have said, jars of pickles at each table surely set this joint apart from the rest. The service was friendly and the overall atmosphere comfortable.

eeehh… they have a huge selection of beers… i only drink cider and they have that on tap… this is the ONLY draw that I have for this place. The service SUCKS!!! It’s like the girls that work there are oblivious to who’s table is who’s and what just got ordered. The food is ok… not great, not discusting, but just ok. I quess if you drink alot, it will taste better??? I have been here several times and was really excited about it when it opened… but as time goes by, I have chosen other places to go to instead of Jax. It is a great place to watch sports, there are TVs every where at every angle, so besides the cider, that’s all the good things I can say about Jax. :(

Hmm, just got out of a relationship with a girl whose nickname was the same as this so-called«Deli». Kinda want to give it 0 stars for that, but hey, that’s not really fair. It’s not their fault. Well, this is just a nice place to grab a quick lunch. I must say, though, that the cafeteria at my workplace makes a tuna wrap which tastes exactly the same as the one I ate at Jax(but my cafeteria charges almost half the price). I mean, it’s just tuna salad, lettuce and tomato. You can’t kick this thing up a notch? Maybe throw some curry or paprika in the tuna salad? Or maybe slice some fresh cucumber and toss it in the wrap? Perhaps dress it with a honey-dijon-oil-vinegar type thing? Do something to this thing, the tuna I make at home is much, much better, because I have a spice rack, and I USEIT. A cool touch is the pickles on the table. They were some good pickles, and it IS actually easy to screw up a pickle. They do have outside dining, but hey this is Florida, everyone has outside dining. Seems like most of the reviewers came here to drink, since this is an «Ale House» as well as a «Deli». Maybe that’s the true value in this place. This place leans to the left of the 2.5 stars that Unilocal does not allow me to give it. By the way, is the«5th Ave» thing a reference to New York City? Uh, no, this is in no way, shape or form, a NY deli.

Arrrgh! Even sitting at the bar doesn’t ensure servers will notice you… but admittedly it was the first day of the BB playoffs and the Gators were playing. But still… And the beer prices are crazy in some cases. Ask if you’re on a budget. The deal for the local Orlando Blonde and Porter are about the best they have for good beer. I think Dead Guy Ale(Rogue, Newport OR) is up to about $ 8 a pint!!!($ 3 at the bar at the Fashion Sq. Mall during happy hour) At least they’ll split a ‘wich for you and chips, and don’t get huffy about it(didn’t even have to ask, except to say we were sharing). Gotta say, it’s kind of hit or miss with service and such. Still a pretty good place to sit back, relax and catch a game and a brew. One of the only places open past 11 or so in College Park.

For a small sports bar, it’s not that bad. I had come here on my lunch break, so unfortunately I wasn’t able to check out all it had to offer(like all their beers on tap). I may have to come back to check all that out. Being small, it definitely was packed in there… and very loud. But the atmosphere was fun and friendly. Their menu consists mainly of sandwiches, salads and pizzas. A lot of it definitely sounded good, but I decided to go with the Club Wrap. And let me just say… OMG. It was really good! I wasn’t expecting much, quite honestly, but they definitely proved me wrong. The potato chips were a great side bonus, since they went really well with the wrap. I would have to say the only bad thing was their service. It was VERY slow. The servers were not really attentive with our needs and the food came out really late. We honestly couldn’t even enjoy it because we were rushing to get back to work. Perhaps they were just slow because of how crowded it was, but I don’t know… I think their food made up for it, though. I would definitely get a Club Wrap again.

I live Jax! Being that I’m not a huge beer fan I love that I can always find WoodChuck cider(only bottled, but in various flavors) and I really love the Framboise too. This is a sports bar with 50+ beers on tap. On game nights it can get a little crazy and really loud, but it’s fun and for the most part, family friendly too. My kids love Jax. I enjoy everything from the jar of kosher dill pickles on the tables to the flat screens, frosty mugs and tasty food. My family usually starts with the Salami & cheese platter; there are 7 of us and this is plenty for us. Sounds kind of boring but I love the Sorry Charlie and chips. My 6-yr olds love the chili dogs. The outdoor patio is small but a nice option when the weather is nice out. This location is kind of crammed so I prefer the Lake Mary location, but all in all … I’d do it again!

I’ve eaten here before and the food is good but service has always been slow though never quite like this: My co-worker and I stopped in last Friday on our lunch break. We weren’t greeted and sat ourselves(seat yourself at this establishment). While we were waiting at one of the high-tops, the waitress came to our table… I guess, because we never saw her. My co-worker and I were both looking out the window when she dropped two menus and napkins off. Not sure why a server would not greet customers when handing out menus… We continue to wait. Mind you, there are 3 servers at this point standing around and chatting it up with either each other or the numerous male patrons who are all are drinking. My co-worker and I are no longer looking over the menus but survey the restaurant to hopefully make eye contact with a server for some assistance. One waitress is monopolized by a male patron in the corner(who looks like he’s been there since 10 a.m. due to the shot glass graveyard he has piled up on his table), the two other waitresses are at the bar chatting it up with one another. We look at them; they both look at us and then go back to their conversation. Almost like we didn’t exist! After 10 minutes, sitting there and waiting for a server to just acknowledge our presence, a party of 2 – 3 men come in and is seated right away. Their server brings them a jar of pickles and right away asks what they want to drink. Now, please tell me how this is right!!! After this, we just got up and left. I have never been treated this way at a restaurant ever in my life! I guess if I had a penis and burning money on alcohol then we would have received better customer service. BTW, drink prices(even their specials) are outrageously high and music is way too loud for the middle of the day. I will NEVER go back there again and will recommend to all of my friends and family to do so as well.

I love Jax! I wish we had one here in Cal… if you want a beer selection like this you have to brave the goat hill tavern, or worse, the yard house. I worked here for a few months when I lived in Florida, It was beer training school for me. They have something like over 200 different beers, and a full bar at this location. They have an «Around the World Beer Club» if you try something like 100 beers you get a free mug. They also bring in seasonal beers, and are always bringing in new stuff. Its a Deli & Ale house, they make good sandwhiches and pizzas. Try the cool hand cuke, or the philly cheese steak. One of the very best features(besides the beer) has to be the pickles. They set out pickle jars on each table — for free. The pickles are delicious and even better with the honey mustard or stone ground mustard on the table. A good place to spend friday night with friends… learn about beer… be harrased by a bartender.

I was surprised to find this place PACKED on a Sunday night; always a good sign, I suppose. Jax is a little dive/sports bar at the north end of Edgewater Drive in College Park. They have outdoor seating, but we headed inside. The room is pretty small, dark, and with what seemed like a dozen TVs all around the bar. In addition to a few games, they had other channels on as well and we found ourselves watching Americas Funniest Home Videos as we ate. They have a pretty good beer selection; I tend toward the fancier beers, so it was nice to see some Rogue, Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada on the menu in addition to your regular domestics and imports. Their food leans heavily toward sandwiches and burgers, with some flatbread pizzas to round things out. I had a reuben(served with chips) which was tasty enough; my friends had some wraps which featured a truly enormous amount of meat. The food was good; nothing special, but at $ 7 – 8, nothing I regretted either. The service was SLOOOOOW. So slow. I’ve read reviews on this site that were highly critical of slow service, and now I understand. We ended up taking our check up to the bar to pay(after a 5 minute wait) rather than hope the waitress would come back. Maybe it was just a bad night and they were short-staffed; I dunno, I’ll up the review if I go back. However, average food + slow service + televisions everywhere(not my scene) = 3 stars.
