McCoy Federal Credit Union

Opening the account was easy. Anyone can join McCoy.
About a year ago I opened an account at McCoy Federal. I do not have a checking account with them, only a savings account. I opened it with the sole purpose of saving up money for a new car and then after I accomplished that I would be saving for a down payment for a new house.
I chose them because there’s a branch very close to my home and I needed to be able to save money and have little or no access to the funds so I would not be able to just withdraw or transfer funds to my checking account. The benefits for me would probably be considered an inconvenience to others. They are closed on weekends and I have no Atm card which also makes it more difficult to spend my savings.
I have been working diligently to raise my credit score as much as possible. I decided to make my money work for me. McCoy offers secured loans for credit rebuilding. I took out one of these loans. It was small and short term. I never actually took the money from my account. They deposited the loan in to my savings and I made monthly payments from it to pay off the loan. They gave me a great interest rate because I have a direct deposit. 3.25% which equaled a whole $ 4.00 in interest I paid. It did help raise my score and help with my mix of credit accounts.
My next adventure with McCoy starts tomorrow. I have saved up money for the down payment & have found a house that I am interested in buying. I will be visiting tomorrow to try to get pre-​approved. We’ll see how they handle a home loan. I will update my review following. So far McCoy Federal has been great for me and suits my needs.
