Melange

In Orlando looking for the one thing that everyone can agree on. The Unilocal reviews were ok and the distance was close enough. The pizza was pretty decent. It was take out but the people seem to be very nice. The family devoured the pizza and wanted to go back the next night. Tip if ordering, use the online system to save $ 5. We had an extra large with slit toppings for under $ 8 (and as mentioned it was good) Well worth trying yourself. They have a buffet for eat in but I cannot offer anything on that.

What used to be deserving of 4 stars, took only a few repeat visits to quickly reduce this establishment to a well-​deserved 1-​star rating.
With my wife and a mutual friend in tow, we arrived at Mélange about 8:40pm on Thursday, April 9, 2015. We were met by the young male employee who has been dubbed «Mr. Personality», who for each of our 3 visits, has made it perfectly clear that he did not wish to be there. During this, our third –and final– visit, we were not even greeted with a hello. About half way through our transaction, I confirmed with Mr. personality that they closed at 10pm. He relayed that they had begun to close down for the evening. I proceeded to ask if we should just go elsewhere then, to which he replied «whatever».
Our party proceeded to pay, and began to check out the buffet and get our beverages, when Mr. Personality approached me at the beverage station, where he proceeded to vacuum the floor mat around me as I filled my drink, requesting that my party «go easy on the deli section», because he had recently closed it down and cleaned it.
Pretty livid at this point, I proceeded to scoff at, and lecture Mr. Personality on how he had no right to place such a demand on a paying customer that was in a restaurant which was scheduled to be open for well over an hour.
It was about this time that my wife and our friend came over saying there were flies (gnats) all over the salad bar area. We agreed to ask for a refund and went over to the Logans steakhouse in the same plaza.
We were met by another employee, who explained the pest control company had been out earlier that day, and that was the reason they closed their deli area early.
Absolutely unacceptable on so many levels. Mélange has a great idea with their made-​to-​order deli sandwiches, stromboli, calzones, and pizzas, but is poorly executed. The pizzas on the buffet are left over from hours prior, drying out under the heat lamp. From what I hear, the lunch rush seems to be the ideal time to go here for absolute freshness — any time after 7pm, forget about it.
To the owners of Mélange, I sincerely hope you can get your act together and resolve the fly issue. Mr. Personality is definitely not an asset when it comes to interacting with customers. He needs to rake a cue from the outgoing tattooed gal with the bubbly street personality — she was great, as was the other young (purple or blue polo shirt) who was present during a prior visit.
We won’t be returning.

We arrived at 8:40 tonight. They close at 10pm. When we got to the register the gentleman said that they had started closing down.
I went to the salald bar and when I reached for the mushrooms, there were gnats all over :(
While I was at the salad (and buggie) bar my guy went to the «custom order station» we were asked to go light on the deli selection…
So we went for a refund instead.
We really had enjoyed our previous visits and thought it was a fun place. If you can come to a place during open hours, why come at all.
I don’t think we will be back.

Got here early on Friday to avoid the dinner rush., wanting to avoid the «Chuck E Cheese» atmosphere. Walked in, TWO customers inside! Six pizza trays sat under heat lamps, each with 1 or 2 slices that looked like they had been sitting out since lunch. Yum!
I asked a staff member about the Stromboli as I placed an order. She looked at me blankly & said, «I don’t know, I’m just here.»
Hmmm…are you sure?
Husband ordered a pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. Wish I took a photo– the cheese was so sparse that it was difficult to see. He said the pizza had almost no flavor. Actually, he preferred the old pizzas on the buffet line!
Finally, 1 Hour after we arrived, another party showed up. The manager finally cleared the old pizzas off the line & put fresh ones out.
The staff was friendly but they looked completely bored. Women’s restroom was not very clean.
On the positive side:
The Stromboli was quite good & had a substantial amount of ricotta inside.
Salad bar was fresh.
Special orders were served quickly.
Lots of parking
Thank goodness for that Groupon or we would not have stayed.

I would have preferred Chuck E Cheese!

For pizza, soup, design your own sandwich & salads it’s great! Very please with the salad bar. Clean, friendly, great for big groups too. But no alcohol. Deli style/​buffet, but surprisingly great food. Ice cream too & all included in 1 price. We will return for a quick meal

No one ever mentioned the paninis on these reviews! They are so good and I’ve been here twice and had a half panini with a salad with gourmet toppings. I wasn’t expecting to be able to put half of the toppings that were available and it was delicious. The touchscreen ordering system walked me through and my daughter was able to eat unlimited pizza and garlic knots. The car phonic in her was completely satisfied, and I was happy that the toppings were fresh and healthy.

I am super excited about finding this place. They have delicious food and best of all, it’s a great value!
The owner was so nice, he gave us a tour and expalined the ordering. They do unlimited sandwiches, paninis, and ice cream! Great place to bring clients for a casual lunch. They have something for everyone.

Encontrei o Mélange por um acaso. Depois de um dia em um dos parques do Walt Disney World, précisávamos de um lugar bom, barato e que não demorasse. Pensamos em pizza, e puxamos o Unilocal para olhar. Surgiu o Mélange, não muito longe de nosso hotel. Escolhemos ele.
A primeira impressão é até um pouco negativa — o lugar é bem comum, sem muita personalidade. No dia, inclusive, estava completamente vazio. Mas logo fomos recebidos por uma equipe bem educada e divertida.
O mélange funciona principalmente com dois formatos: buffet de pizzas por um preço fixo ou pizzas individuais. São várias opções de sabores e uma coleção considerável de toppings para incrementar, de modo que é possível ter bastante variedade. Mas o que é mais incrível são os preços: uma pizza individual com topping extra e bebida ficou por menos de US$ 10. O buffet não custava muito mais que isso, mas apesar da oferta da equipe de prepará-​lo para servir, ainda que fossemos os únicos naquele horário, preferimos seguir com as individuais.
Momentos depois, tinhamos nossos refrigerantes e pizzas e os outros reviews do Unilocal não mentiram: era ótima! As pizzas tem aproximadamente o tamanho de um prato e ingredientes de qualidade. Nos esbaldamos, e tudo encaixou certinho nos respectivos apetites.
Saímos satisfeitos e só não voltamos lá porque preferimos variar. Se estiver em Orlando e quiser uma pizza boa e barata, Mélange é o lugar!

I was very impressed by this creative concept. At first it does look like a CiCi’s pizza, with its salad and pizza buffet.
But the real treat is at the back, where you can get a sandwich, panini, pizza or ice cream with virtually any combination of ingredients you can imagine, made to order. For sandwiches alone, with about a dozen breads, a dozen meats, and a dozen toppings, there are a lot of possibilities.
You can order at the counter, but it’s fun to use the two touchscreens to assemble exactly what you want. Then it’s promptly made and delivered to your table. I selected rye bread, ham, turkey, swiss, fat free mayo and banana peppers. The sandwich turned out great, and all the ingredients were fresh and delicious. It was accompanied by a very tasty and zesty potato salad.
This is a great place for families, because there’s something for everyone, but it’s also one of the better places in town to get a sandwich, and I’d actually rate it above any of the sub shops and delis in the area. In fact, the only thing I didn’t like about it is the bright fluorescent lighting.
And at $ 7.99 for lunch, it’s hard to imagine a better deal.

This place had the right idea. Like a Cicis pizza but a little nicer. The salad bar is fresh and has yummy toppings. The pizza buffet looks delicious with so many different flavors. You can ever text to «spin» a wheel a get a discount. One person in my party even got a free buffet! They have a touch screen menu in the back where you can order your own sandwich or pizza (limit 4 toppings) and they bring it right to your table.
Now, the reason I give it 2 starts after all they positive feedback is this: I went with a group of friends from work on our lunch break. We all had different things, and we all enjoyed ourselves… Until we returned to work. We had to fight for the bathroom. The aftermath of this restaurant were nightmarish. Never have I felt so sick. 2 gentlemen even went home early.
Maybe it was how long they sat out, maybe the ingredients were bad, but something about that pizza was not okay. I will not be returning.

I love this place. The staff and owner are courteous and friendly. The place is clean and the pizza is terrific. My family and I have been here several times and its been very enjoyable. There is a great variety of food and our favorite is the calzones and stromboli’s. Its an unlimited buffet for 9.99 per person that can’t be beat. Much better than CiCi’s and Golden Corral.

NOT WORTH THE PRICE. Downgrade from Cici’s. My husband and I arrived around 8:30 PM (closes at 10) to a practically empty restaurant.
Greeted by miserable looking staff who wandered around aimlessly, dreading our next order. The «buffet» contained 2 – 3 slices of each type of dried up pizza that looked like it had been sitting out for hours. The pizza menu was nothing extraordinary but was easy to use. Orders were quick to the table. There is a clever «spin to win» text game to try to get 5−100% off your order. Clever idea but congratulations, you’re now subscribed!
We ordered a broccoli & mushroom Stromboli which was decent but our ham, bacon, pepperoni calzone was not fully cooked. Chicken panini was decent but left a lot to be desired. Buffalo bacon ranch pizza was comparable to Cici’s.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, shortly after receiving our food the staff began mopping when we noticed no hairnets, no gloves, and NO HANDWASHING after mopping. We lost our appetite & left. Would not return.

Recently has got even better! Stromboli’s are great! They are a little smaller than a typical Stromboli but it’s perfect to accompany the buffet! Spin the wheel loyalty program is an awesome way to start the experience and NOW they have Hershey’s ice cream to end the experience. Locals, if you have not tried this, you are missing out!

You have to appreciate good service and the attention management pays to patrons in this place. The food is good. Great for families looking for value and variety. The make your own station was the highlight of my visit. Calzone and panini were amazing! Kudos to the staff for being on top of things throughout. Will def. return

If you like Cici’s you will love Mélange. A more extensive salad bar, plenty of pizza options, customizable sandwiches, and soft serve ice cream. Employees were very friendly, the tables were bused frequently — nothing to complain about.

FRESH salad bar with different types of lettuce and spinach and the basic toppings. Nothing fabulous, but it all was fresh and deelish! About 12 salad dressings.
Soup (About 2 – 3 types), cheese bread, rolls, and the usual various types of pizza. Some of the pizza looked dry, but by the time we sat down with drinks — there were fresh pizzas up! They will also special order whatever pizza you desire.
The veggie pizza had a unique flavor to it. Was really good. This used to be a Cici’s pizza. ALOT of space, even a large room by the bathrooms that could possible be used for a private dining area in the future (?) !
They have computers (2) like in Wawa’s to place an order for specialty sandwiches. Tasted a piece of turkey sandwich. Bread was delicious (soft and fresh), toppings were fresh with loads of turkey. They brought it out to you within about 3 minutes. Really fast.
A little self serve ice cream area with about 8 different toppings.
Prices during the week are $ 7.99, $ 9.99 on the weekend. A little pricey for me and the kids since we don’t eat that much (for the weekend price) The quiet (only about 4 people in there) was well worth it.
Staff, very friendly and accommodating. They are happy to serve. Will keep checking for another Groupon special.
Nice spot. I don’t do well with crowds and loud people, so I really enjoyed the peace and quiet! I would love to see this little spot «make it !»

Ate here when they first opened with the special for a free pizza. The pizza was good, especially since it was free.

I was hesitant to try this place because it was compared to CiCi’s pizza. Sure enough when I arrived at Mélange it was in the old CiCi’s restaurant. Regardless I still went in. I was surprised by the fresh salad section. They have a few different greens to pick from and a few salad selections. Everything was fresh! Not to mention they have so many dressings to choose from. I was impressed because I love to build my own salad and that option and the fresh ingredients were refreshing. I was curious about the panini that they advertise outside on their window. They have 2 computers where you can order your sandwich much like Ordering a sandwich at Wawa. Impressed with the variety of sandwiches I choose to customize a panini. The quality of the meat and bread were pretty good. My fiancé had an Italian hoagie and it was pretty good. The sandwich thing is a good idea and seemed to me a hit because everyone kept ordering sandwiches. I did try the pizza, and the crust was my favorite part. It was fresh and good. The pizza itself was good but nothing fancy. They have a variety of different pizzas to choose from. This restaurant also has some of the best garlic knots I’ve ever had. Surprisingly so! The bread was so fresh and good. Like a garlic donut lol. I did help myself to the minestrone soup which was all right but I’m not a minestrone type of girl. The dessert is a ice cream bar with a few different toppings. Not bad! My fiancé went for seconds.
Overall my experience was good. Everyone was very kind and the food was good, especially if you love a salad bar. Try it.

Was there last night as a friend’s guest. She had a Groupon. They have a salad bar, soups, garlic knots and pizza. What was different and outstanding was the sandwiches. Very good quality cold cuts, variety of breads, condiments, sides. You can pick whole or half sandwiches, their specialties or custom made. Very friendly staff, both manager and owner came over and spoke to us. Clean family atmosphere.
Never been to a buffet with basically «endless» sandwiches. Great!!!

I tried this place after purchasing a Groupon and found it to be a big step up from the Cici’s Pizza that previously was at this location. The pizza is back with better toppings and more variety. Mélange adds a salad bar that has about 20 items and just as many dressing choices. Then there’s the deli, which in some ways is the heart of the experience.
Included in the price (lunch is $ 7.99 weekdays) is a made-​to-​order full or half sandwich with a side like coleslaw or chips. My egg salad sandwich with pepper jack cheese was fantastic, comparable to Panara and better than Subway. My buddy got a turkey sandwich that had more turkey than he would have been able to add at home. We both were very satisfied. Given the addition of the pizza, salad, soup, and soft serve ice cream bars you might consider getting just a up half sandwich. It’s still a large portion. My friend noted that they didn’t have a toasting option for the sandwich, but that was a minor quibble.
The way you order the sandwich is currently on one of two touchscreens that allow you to design your own sandwich on many bread types and fillings or get pre-​selected recipes. We ordered at 11am so there was no line, but I expect these will get pretty backed up once the crowds come.
Quality of the food was fantastic. A real winner. Service was good, but mixed. A man that appeared to be the manager walked around assisting his staff but never smiling or greeting anyone. Similarly, we got no smile from the cashier when we walked in. However, they did seem competent and greeted us politely as we left. The busser was excellent and very attentive and friendly.
Overall, I really loved visiting this place and hope it stays in business. In some ways I don’t think it will because the price point is so low for such good quality food. Maybe word of mouth will give them the volume to thrive. I certainly hope so because I can’t wait to go back.

Tried it for the first time. Bought the groupon. Got here too late for lunch. Loved the white pizza could of eaten an entire pie. Then had a pastrami sandwich on marble rye. The bread was so soft and fresh. Can’t wait to come back
