I don’t do a lot of reviews but my experience this morning was so remarkably terrible that I feel compelled. Two weeks ago I called and found out that Dr. Brown had sold her practice to Dr. Andrew M. Teffeau, DO and so I made an appointment to see Dr. Teffeau. I was told the earliest I could get in to see him was this morning. The lady on the phone asked me for my insurance information which I provided. So today I showed up for my appointment and was told that it didn’t exist. I was pretty confused and couldn’t figure out why I didn’t have an appointment after setting one up several weeks ago and waiting quite a while to get in. The lady at the front desk told me she was sorry and seemed to indicate that I should leave. I was bewildered about why I didn’t have an appointment and she then proceeded to try to find information on me. She looked in her computer and didn’t have any information on me and then she finally looked in her pile of insurance forms and found my insurance information. Apparently my insurance company told the front office staff that they wouldn’t pay for any claims filed by Dr. Teffeau’s office. Which seemed really odd since Dr. Teffeau’s office is supposed to be in network and regardless I have the PPO plan so they still should pay a portion of out of network claims. The front desk lady told me I should call my insurance company and ask them if they would pay for Dr. Teffeau’s services. So I proceeded to sit down to give my insurance a call. But then she told me that there were no appointments available today so I should leave and call back once I got the insurance figured out and ask for a new appointment. I was really reluctant to leave because I had just driven close to 30 minutes in rush hour traffic to get to the office. I would have been willing to pay out of pocket for the visit but it was evident that no accommodations would be made for my efforts or for the loss of the appointment by the office staff. So I left still trying to figure out what in the world happened. When it was obvious the staff screwed up by deleting my appointment and not notifying me, they should have tried working something out with the doctor so my efforts weren’t completely wasted. But as it was, I felt like they could not get me out the door fast enough. I never got to meet him in person but if Dr. Teffeau practices medicine with the same inconsideration in which his office is run then I think you would be wise to stay away. — — - Update 10/08/2015 — — - Dr. Teffeau contacted me today and conveyed his deepest apologies for my experience. He said that his office has been going through a difficult transition. He wasn’t aware of my experience until he read my review and assured me that no one will have a similar experience again.
