Pep Boys Auto Service & Tire

I shopped around to find a great deal on tires, and I found one here. I was pleased that they had the best deal and I could make an appointment online to reserve my tires and have them installed the next day. Once I arrived, they informed me my selection was a great one, and they just put the last of the stock of tires on the woman’s car who was driving out now. I mentioned that I reserved some so they had to call and have a few more brought in from another location, minor problem and minor wait but whatever, things happen. I noticed recently they took off my factory nice silver valve stem covers and replaced them with ugly black cheap ones that don’t even look to fit properly. Now I have to go buy more valve stems and spend the money I saved by going here on fixing this place’s sub-​par work. I won’t be back. You definitely can save a few bucks, but it is really worth the trouble?

Service was extremely slow. Had an appointment for 5 pm on 13 Jan 16. Got to the location on time, for the appointment they didn’t start my oil change until 6:19 pm due to the mechanic not having the knowledge to drive the car on the ramp in order to compete the oil change. My first and last time ever going to Pep Boys, regardless of the location. They need to retrain the technicians on the basics. Sadly, as I’m typing this review I’m still waiting on the oil change to be complete and it’s almost 6:30 pm and the store has long closed. .Two additional thumbs down for incompetency and snail service…

When first visiting this location there was a wonderful manager that really took care of me. Recently however the work has been a travesty.
Not sure what happened, but the work under manager Jesus has been maddening really. I had a simple oil change, and received an estimate of work that needed to be done on the axel and a leak and was told it needed to be done right now for safety reasons.
I decided to hold off since I had read the recent reviews that were not positive. I decided to take my car to the McLeod location and glad I did.
Hank and his team opened the hood and immediately noticed the oil cap from the oil change was off and oil was everywhere on the engine.
They called the orange avenue location and notified them of this, even taking taking pictures for reference.
Never again.

My brakes were sticking, so I went here to have them checked. After the inspection they said my rotors and brake pads needed to be replaced. I left, a hour later the brakes were doing the same thing. When I called back they said I needed new calipers? When I asked why didn’t he just replace the calipers instead of the rotors and pads he said that I needed everything replaced.
Went to another garage to get the calipers replaced and they said that they stripped the bracket screw when they replaced the rotors. I saw them struggling to put the bracket back on.
The store manager can reply to this post all he wants, like I’ve seen him try to explain everything away from other posts. But the manager Jesus is just a scam artist. Even tried to make it seem like he was giving me a deal. So after 4 hours they only didn’t fix the problem, they further messed up my brakes.
Stay away from this place!
Went to 2 other Pep Boys because it’s a good company. And both other locations said they had to fix other cars that this location had messed up!

I went into this Pep Boys because of the awesome Unilocal ratings and the fact that it’s a national chain. I expected to get great customer service and timely assistance however I received an obscene bill for service that didn’t even fix the problem I came in for. The manager Rick made claims he would contact me at certain times and I found myself calling in to check the status of my repair. I wouldn’t mind getting charged a ton of money to fix my car if it actually got fixed. Here I am, $ 1,400 later and still the pre-​existing issue remains. Not a satisfied customer to say the least.

They had the best price after calling 3 other places. By far.
Rick is the manager and was excellent. He made it simple and quoted the price over the phone and stuck to it when I go there. Even greeted me by name once I pulled in.
Got 4 tires, installation, roadside and tax for $ 800.
The waiting room is decent with seats and tables and two clean bathrooms and a window to see the work being done. Wish they had Wi-​Fi. The wait wasn’t long so I was in and out of there.
Rick recommended I come back every 6 months or 6k miles to rotate the tires and every 12 to align them. He even made my appointment. This will all be free with my package. If I need a tow they will do it for $ 49 for first 20 miles to any pep boys.
Also got Pep Boys reward card so will get a $ 10 gift card back for future work.

I got estimates for several local mechanics. Pep Boys matched the price then gave me another $ 100 discount. The manager was even kind enough to let me use his hotspot so I could use my iPad. I’ve never had customer service experience like this before.

How this place has no review, I don’t know, but I had an excellent experience here. Ended up getting a flat on one of my 19′ Pirelli tires. Went to Goodyear off Bumby and they told me that the tire was irreparable and that I would need 2 tires. After waiting several hours to hear back if my tires were in from the wearhouse, I had a hunch to call another place. I called pep boys and Rick told me to come in so he could take a look. I did not tell him I went to another place first, etc. As soon as he looked at the tire, he told me it was reparable. They fixed it and didn’t charge me anything! Thankuuu!
