Pepa’s Arepas

I’ve never had an arepa before but I thought these were great! The staff was friendly and the service was good. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the mood for something different.

It’s been 40 minutes since we ordered and still no food. There is a crowd of people just waiting for food… People just stopped ordering and went to the other trucks instead.

First time trying there arepas today, and OMG!!! I have never had an arepa this amazing before!!! It had just th right amount of flavor! It was not greasy at all. With the kick from the arugula and their amazing great sauce I couldn’t have asked for a better combination! I definitely look forward to trying their other arepas!

The food is so good my boyfriend and I got 3 to try and share. La griega confundida, the koreana and the reina plus. All very good but koreana was definitely best! Will definitely be back

I so wanted to like them… Friendly staff, good system of when you order you get a ticket with a number so its easy to hear when your food is ready — they call out the number.
I tried two different ones — La Cochinita — the meat was very good. Chunks of pork, The arepas were surprisingly stiff — not soft and fluffy as I expected. I could not even cut one with a knife. But I guess that is because its used as a bun to keep the insides all together. I found the flavor to be a bit bland. The Habanero salsa on the side was actually with my Koreana so I didn’t realize it was for this one.
The La Koreana was also kind of bland — the beef was shredded and a bit dry. On the board I thought it said it would have a red cabbage slaw — but I only found one or two pieces on it. This one was very greasy — which I usually like, but just not much flavor.
I’m so sorry — I really wanted to like these, but just not impressed.

I had three arepas last Saturday. Each was my favorite when I was eating it. I have to say it was the flavor combinations that got me. I’m familiar with the cuisines, but these were original and delicious! Next time I will have to have all four!

My new favorite food truck. Try the Koreana. It’s like a festival of flavors that really work together!!! Seriously, righteous eats!!!

On an impulse I had the La Rusa Comunista downtown after a night out. It was awesome! I was so happy to get a crazy good and unique meal on my walk home. I just got back from a long trip over seas, and this meal was something straight outta Budapest’s Jewish district. They have awesome night life coupled with unique kick ass street food, and it was so cool to come home to find the same thing! I will be back for more, 100%.
