If I could choose less than 1 star this place would get it! I took 2 complete regulators for rebuild there and now after almost 3 months I have gone back and pick them up unfinished! They put anyone and everyone who«said» they needed there’s right away first and mine have been sitting there incomplete. This is the worst service for a specialty store I have ever seen and I drove almost and hour to get it! I will tell every other scuba store not to refer there as I was. They never even offered to do anything to help fix the situation !!

We visited this shop in July 2014. I don’t know if the staff was having a bad day but they were very rude and completely useless in recommending dive sites on east or west. Couldn’t even get info on dive sites on the Atlantic, where we were planning to drive to get some time in the water. This was even after we spent $ 300 on gear that we should’ve just ordered from another company over the Internet. We will not return to this shop nor would I recommend certified Open Water divers to visit. They scoffed at the fact that I am Open Water but yet me husband, standing right next to me, is Advanced and has 4 other certifications in nitrox, buoyancy, cave and cavern. Ridiculous.

I can’t say enough nice things about his place. My husband has been shopping here since he was 10. so nearly 30 years! Apparently, it’s hasn’t changed a bit… a new owner, but same great service and even some of the same people. George is a dive instructor and a HOOT! He’s kind of one of those salty sailor, CIA, treasure hunter types that is a mix between Ahab and Indiana Jones. You can tell he has a crazy amount of stories and you want to go diving WITHHIM just to hear some of them. I believe the owner’s name is Jim and he was incredibly friendly and helpful. He took one look at my husband and knew exactly what size of everything… picked great quality and was happy to point him in the direction of economy if he thought the quality was on par with the pricier stuff. I’m not a diver, and we’re new(again) to town so they offered to hook my husband up with dive buddies. Great everything. Their prices were a bit higher than the big box competitor, but and that is a big BUT… you discount good service from people that will be there in 30 years. I am the first person to ask for a discount… AAA, Early Bird, Senior Citizen, because my name starts with an «M»…I am the one who barters for my avocados and grapes at Publix… and wins… I’m sure they would have matched Divers Direct pricing on a few things… we might have saved about $ 50…but I didn’t have the balls to ask. These are local guys doing an amazing service and they deserve what they charge.

Scuba World has been specializing in scuba and diving gear since 1967. The shop is pretty small but they have a lot of high-quality gear for all budgets. I’m not a diver myself, but I do enjoy snorkeling, so I came here to look at their snorkels and masks. They have tons of choices ranging from the moderately priced to the very expensive. As for diving equipment, you can get it ALL here — tanks, wetsuits, fins, dive computers, regulators… you get the picture! Scuba World also offers a complete series of classes ranging from Open Water Diver all the way to Dive Instructor. They also have scheduled group dives that you can get in on! Jim, the owner, truly loves the sport and is a very knowledgable and willing to help. This is a great place to go if you are into diving or maybe just want to learn more and try a new hobby!
