Service was amazing. The owner/chef came out and greeted us personally. The stew beef and empanadas were so good! Really cute place.

Average food, prices are a little high. Luckily I had a LivingSocial deal so it didn’t seem so expensive. Between 3 of us, we shared the Creamy Crab And Goat Cheese Torte, which was DELICIOUS. That was the first dish to arrive at our table, so we were really expecting to be wowed with the items that followed. The Chicken Swords were decent, they were well seasoned and the dipping sauce was good. The Shrimp Swords were plain cooked shrimp. No seasoning. Not even a sprinkle of Old Bay. Nothing. Sauce was ok, but I expected more. We received the tots last. After reading all the positive comments on Unilocal I expected some awesome tots. Nope, just tots. With«spiked» ketchup. Tasted like regular ketchup to me. And honey mustard. Beer selection is all right, better than most restaurants. A friend got the fish tacos, I tried a bite, they were good. I think it’s a matter of knowing what’s good on the menu and sticking with it. Unfortunately, we got 1.5 out of our 4 picks right.

we ordered take out on the way to a show. it smelled so horrible, we had to pull over & place it inside a garbage pail that someone had in their driveway(sorry folks). I have friends who used to frequent Taste that warned its quality had plummeted. DAY-UM guess they were right…

The food tastes good. It is Caribbean and they offer jerk and curry. I had chicken under a cloud, which was a savory pot pie type dish with chicken and vegetables in a cream sauce under a puff pastry. My mom has the steak salad which tasted great with lots of cheese and a creamy garlic dressing. I saw a poster for a vegan menu but didn’t browse it. The food did come out at different times. There is a small staff and so i wouldn’t come here if you are in a hurry. The offerings are unique though.

I’ve hosted events and attended events here, and I have to say it’s one of the best venues in Orlando for a cool, casual crowd. The owners make everything super-easy with amazing food, and great beverage choices. The sangria is the best in town. I love doing business lunches here for those times you’d like to not feel rushed or cramped. Quiet and lots of room to spread out. Great attention is given to food prep, and it shows. Really good veggie options, and salads. This is what I like to call a «fusion» space. Come for the food, stay for the show. There’s music, comedy and all sorts of great things happening at Taste!

At 2PM on a Thursday, starving and hoping to try Taste, we walked in and found a huge dining room, in the back there was a gallery which we didn’t get a chance to check out. There were only two people in the dining room — it was after lunch rush so that didn’t surprise us. After waiting for a few minutes for someone to come and sit us the lady eating her salad suggested we ring the bell on the table by the door. Hmmm we rang the bell several times, browsed the menu while we waited and decided it didn’t seem good enough to make up for no one coming out to help us. I was very uncomfortable waiting there, we waited for a full 5 minutes. That is way too long for someone not to even check on the only two people in the joint. The place was empty. Only two people and we couldn’t get seated. Maybe we will come again, probably not. For me food can be «just OK» but if the service is great it totally makes up for it. If the food is fantastic but service mediocre? It won’t.

Taste is a pleasant eatery and bar with a dark and relaxed ambiance. The service was excellent; the food was good; and the prices were fair. They have shows and musical events at times as well. The menu included a wide array of tapas, Caribbean specialties, seafood, and vegetarian options, among other tasty selections. I would not go out of my way for Taste, but I would recommend it if you’re in the area.

Taste is a rare gem in a city with a plethora of turn and burn restaurants featuring pre-prepared microwavable food. This is the place you go to have a leisurely dining experience without feeling rushed; you can relax and enjoy the freshly prepared offerings and the people you are with. My first experience at Taste was a delight. The staff was incredibly friendly and my food was not only prepared from scratch, but TASTED like it was prepared from scratch. The owner was wonderfully kind and even sent over an extra TAPAS dish…(I could have eaten a whole bowl of the sauce it came with). Good things take time and although speed may not be Taste’s greatest strength its a refreshing change from being rushed. I’d recommend Taste to anyone who wants freshly prepared food, a unique environment, an assortment of tapas options, kind staff, great drink specials, and time to enjoy themselves.

Cute little tapas restaurant, with a private event space. The«gallery,» as they call it, has a stage and could probably accommodate over 50 people. The food was good, too! My favorite was the Ahi Shrimp Tartare. It came out in a martini glass! My only complaint was the bathroom. It looked clean, but my nose begged to differ…

I GUESS the food was good, but it wasn’t amazing. Over-priced for sure, I would have felt ripped off except for a coupon. Service was not as bad as some reviews mention, but not impeccable either.

Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our friend Jason’s birthday! The favors and decorations were an unexpected touch, especially since we were last minute. Our group had a blast! The curry chicken and goat were favorites along with the pitchers of sangria-red was amazing.

Against the recommendation of a friend(and my own prior experiences here), seven of my friends and I came here for the burlesque show last night. Not only was the event deceptively advertised(9pm; no opening band/performance mentioned in any promotions for the evening, but one nonetheless started around 10:45, ACTUAL advertised burlesque show started around midnight – if doors are at 9, one would expect the BILLED acts to commence between 9:45−10, as is the norm in town… and if not, give us a heads-up, please?) One very overworked male bartender did his best to keep the lackluster-at-best crowd happy – despite his co-workers’ and a passive-aggressively rude female who seemed to be the owner/manager’s best efforts. Kudos to him. Only one of the group I was with ordered food. The spring rolls were apparently adequate, despite the smell of stale, almost-turned fish wafting out of the kitchen through the bar area prior to her receiving the plate for several minutes before service of the plate. My main problem with this venue/restaurant, other than not being able to see the show we all paid for, was the complete lack of regard towards service displayed by the staff(other than the overworked gentleman I’ve already mentioned.) I got the definite impression that the general attitude was that, other than another dollar in the owner’s pockets, guests were only tolerated long enough enough to be ignored. Were it not for so many better places in town to experience better service, value and atmosphere, I could almost excuse the less-than-adequate A/C, the confusion of the person who FINALLY cashed out my tab at a very slow bar over what«split it down the middle between these two cards» actually meant, the unprofessional handling of an evening’s event, the unmanned beer tub that was priced by ~$ 1 more per beer, and the smell… but c’mon, Taste. Step it up. No wonder you’re grabbing at straws.

Taste is a confusing restaurant and can’t be summed up with a simple«good» or «bad». i’ve been numerous times over the past 2 years. It’s always empty, so I have no idea how they stay in business. I would describe the atmosphere as unfinished hobo eclectic, which is not meant to be whimsical or flattering. The food is ok, nothing is outstanding. My favorite thing on the tapas menu is the tatter tots, which should give you an idea of how good the food is(i.e., they’re good tots, but they’re still just tots). The waitstaff is utterly unpredictable from one visit to the next — sometimes good, sometimes awful. One time I’m quite sure we were served by a member of the kitchen crew. My general sense is that Taste is hanging on by a thread. I don’t think it would be any great tragedy if it closed.

Yes, I give Taste a solid 4 stars with a «Yay! I’m a fan» recommendation. I’ve been to Taste countless times, and I’ve been disappointed in the past. But with a very cheap certificate(like $ 25 for $ 5), we couldn’t go wrong. Great quiet atmosphere, lovely little menu. Yes, it’s small plates. And they can be pricey. We had a sangria(happy hour $ 5 special and it was DELISH) and a beer, and some friends went right for dessert. I myself went for a «full plate» order of the fish tacos(which is 2 tacos, nothing more) BUT they were stuffed, fork-friendly and filling. My fiancé had the ahi tuna(it came in a martini glass) and he savored it and loved it. We actually met a vendor for a wedding coordination consult, so there was lots of talking time. The other gals had desserts and coffee. One had this strawberry puff pastry(it was DIVINE so I had one too) and the chocolate bread pudding. I can’t remember ever having come here and having a full house. Or impeccable service. On the contrary, there were very many empty tables but the server was there more than we needed. She was honest about her opinions on certain menu items. And my water glass was never emptied.(I’m constantly thirsty and had just donated blood, so liquids were a must, must, must!). I love this place when I know what to expect. The food is always outstanding. Hot plates are never cold. Cold plates don’t taste refrigerated. The food quality spares no expense. So I suppose that is why the cost per plate can creep up there. But use a certificate and it’s much more reasonable! We left right before the Monday Night Jazz was about to start up. Bet that would be nice to grab a glass and listen to. Definitely going back!

Pretty good, the food was all decent and the location/décor was unique and had a good atmosphere. My low number of stars for the rating was for the service and price, I would definitely probably not return based solely on price and portion sizes. It was very expensive and we actually even had a $ 40 gift certificate and i thought it was still pricey but needless to say considering the cost after the gift cert the portions for the price just were not considerate. Every tapas we ordered was about $ 9-$ 12 and only came with 4 small portions… the calamari was decent but not breaded to my personal liking because it all seemed to fall off the squid when you dipped it or forked it. Everything was just ok or edible, nothing was outstanding and for those prices and portions thats what I would have expected. At least if its going to be mediocre then they should have offered larger portions. Anywho, we had shrimp, steak, mushrooms, avacado and hearts of palms along with the calamari. And we had white sangria, which was good but pricey as well around $ 20 for a carafe.

This place was just ok. I liked the atmosphere. I would stop to by for a drink at the bar for maybe happy hour, but I would not make a night out of it. I like that they had art displayed although I wish there was more around the restaurant area and not just in the separate room. The band that was playing that night was not too impressive. Restaurant was full of friends of the band. The pear martini was great! Got some apps. It was also ok. I do not mind paying money for good food but I think it was over priced for what it was. I need to give this place a second chance.

Good place. Most places I go to eat don’t have a full bar, so this is a nice direction change. They have live music at night, too. Check out their calendar to find out what’s going on. The jazz night(on Mondays) is particularly nice, but should be better attended than it usually is.

I enjoyed this place! The set-up of the restaurant is a bit weird. It’s eclectic, and undefined but clean with some cool art on the walls and lighting to set the mood. Although I didn’t sit at the bar, I could see myself in the future dropping in for a cocktail at the bar. The server was friendly and very patient, considering our party was very disorganized with ordering. Despite the confusion, he was very accommodating. The food was great though! We ordered several items and everything was very flavorful. Everyone really enjoyed the food. I had a bloody Mary which was spot on! I also had a very well made dirty vodka martini. My only gripe is the drinks are on the small side as they came in dainty, little miniature cocktail glasses. Overall, I liked this place and look forward to checking them out for live music.

After leaving Credo across the street, me and my companion were hungry. There was a dude outside the coffee shop with a gyro looking wrap, mouth full, who pointed at the orange wall that said, «Taste.» So there we went. Very excited to see the array of local art, very colorful on the walls. We ordered tomato pastry with carmelized onions, served with a vinegerette over mixed greens, along with a spinach, hummus type wrap. The food was ok, it was not exceptional, and the prices were reasonable. I was told they have live music, jazz and other varieties, which they play in a side room with a stage. It’s a great creative spot, however, there are are many other choices around that may make it an afterthought.

I am completely confused on how people list the atmosphere as one of the good things? Do they require employees to post as a condition of employment? The place looks like they got a bunch of buddies together, paid them in beer, and«knocked it out in a weekend». And the furniture? where did they get that? a bankrupt bowling alley? They were also out of several beers they had listed on the menu, and the ones they did have tasted like they were sitting out in the sun for a month. The place is 100% gross, they must have some subsidy from the landlord because I have no idea how they are still open.
