The Color Run

What was not to love about this 5k!!! Tons of people, color all over the place, food, fitness and one big party!
I volunteered at this event, just as fun as running it! This was my first time volunteering at a 5k and it was the perfect one to help out at. We helped close to the finish line making sure people kept flowing and cheering everyone on the last bit of the race. I loved seeing the crazy costumes and rainbow of colors people were painted with by the time they got to the end. This was not a timed 5k, everyone just came to have fun! There was a huge color party at end where you had music, color and fun.
When I got to my car and looked in the mirror I was shocked at the colors I was covered with! Without even running the race I stil managed to get covered in color. Next year I will definitely be running it! If you don’t want to run it consider volunteering. You can throw color at people, help with registration, hand out water, setup/​breakdown and have fun!

Ok so we all know this is a super fun run! My only complaint was there was NO color when you crossed the finish line… i was highly disappointed that the final hurray didn’t happen… and purple is my favorite color and that was the only color that they didn’t use in the race… but had packets to throw around… the other part that was kinda lame is during the «color party» they threw all the color packet to the middle of the crowd, so anyone not right in the middle didn’t get color… they need to spread that color around!
Other than that… it was fun and we all had a great time!

SUPER FUN! Such a great time. We had a Unilocal group. Must do this again next year.
We rocked some awesome togas. It was an underused costume. We saw a couple others with them. They were definitely a crowd pleaser. TOGA TOGA TOGA!
Kind of a cluster at the beginning. Tons of people trying to get to the start. But they managed it well enough. Staggering the runners and keeping it light-​hearted. I think the crowds just wanted to have a good time which was awesome. It really is the happiest 5k.
The first color blast is a little shocking to the system. You learn how not to inhale it pretty by the second one. You can meander in the color stations for a bit if you want. It is very free form.
There were a lot of walkers which made me feel good. I am not a runner.
Probably the only downside was that the race was through the ghetto. Hopefully next year we will going through a better part of town.

Had a total blast, even took the kids and they loved it! Will definitely do this again… some key learnings:
*Have a plan if you lose your kid — won’t expound, everyone was fine but we got a little separated and it terrified me!
*Wear protective eye wear — the powder is so fun, but it gets a little crazy.
*No need to get there at the crack of dawn — we waited for over an hour and since they release you in waves that’s not a deal breaker to show up a little later.
* The color actually goes through your clothing — so scrubbing with Dawn dish washing liquid or a nice exfoliant is in order.
*Dress crazy and bring a camera — it was so fun to see the get ups!
*Put your mobile phone in a plastic bag.
*I was so surprised that all the food at the finish line was like fried carnival fare — just hilarious to see these petite runners eating elephant ears and foot long corn dogs:)
*All sizes welcome — it was so cool to see so many people at different levels of fitness doing this race… so cool!
Will be doing this again next year!

I have never seen so much fan fare over a 5k. My guess is that the event is to make races fun, and it seemed to attract people that do not normally participate in races. That being said, the goal of this race is FUN!
Impressed with the organization of the event, from packet pick up – another party within itself – to the after party. I’m not sure if the after party was more fun than the event itself. Loved the dance off and all the music afterwards.
I really loved the color. Such expectation to hit a color station with music and watch everyone get powdered. Blue team was on point! By the time I hit the orange – I don’t know – the orange team lacked zeal, and needed training from the blue team. I had to beg them to get some orange on me. I mean, what was that?
Now, I hate to be the one to bring this up, but I have to, or I would not be me. I have participated and volunteered for many athletic events, but I have never had to race around the homeless. Such a stark contrast to see happy people running and walking while watching people in their bedding in Parramore. I mean, sure, a different dynamic seeing street people cheer you on, along with people dressed in their Sunday best. It is what it is .
So, some hints, you may want to wear goggles
and if you have light colored hair, wear a bandana or shower cap, or a wig even. A friend of mine in ATL could not get pink out of her hair for almost a week.
Definitely a fun race not to be missed! If you get the chance, go!

This was absolute torture. The weather was awfully sunny with clear skies and the cool breeze was just ridiculous. There were so many people there dressed in the stupidest outfits possible that I thought I had been trapped in a loony bin. It took forever for us to finally even get past the Start line because they only released people in waves for stupid safety reasons or something.
Then, it got worse. What kind of run doesn’t actually involve running?! False advertising, I say! At every K, they tried to kill us with these awful-​tasting powder that got into our eyes, noses, ears, and mouths. I ingested so much of that foul stuff that I thought I was going to die the next day. Thank goodness I’m still alive to write this.
At the end, they had this party with lots of dancing and color throws. Who would host such a thing at a run?! These crazy people, apparently. Ugh. There were also lots of junk food to feast on which is simply counter-​intuitive to the whole exercise and getting healthy thing. I ended up being very dirty, but not as bad as a lot of the other people there who got REALLY dirty.
I’ll never do this again!
Of course I’m kidding. I had one of the best times of my life. =)

SO friggin’ FUN!!!
If this run comes to your city, GO! This is the original of all the «color» themed runs and sells out in every city for a reason. It’s FUN! «The happiest 5K on the planet» rings true for sure.
10,000 people in white, running, walking, skipping or dancing through a 5K and getting color splashed on them. Yep, that’s a party. Check the FAQ page, it’s hilarious. No time is kept, you just do this for fun so, serious runners, don’t be serious about this one. There were families and people of all ages.
You start off all clean and pristine in your all white attire and then each station throughout the course you get color bombed! You get SO excited when you see a station coming up with it’s huge color arch, loud music and a cloud of color! So you throw a little party and get all color-​fied at each station, all different colors, pink, yellow, blue, purple, orange, green. And then when you reach the finish line, there is a color party! You get a color packet in your registration and can use it at the party to celebrate crossing the line. Then they have a DJ and stage where they do more color bombs and give away goodies. Music happens and it’s literally a colorful love moment. Everyone is dancing and throwing color, it’s awesome!
Grab a ton of friends and enjoy! This was one of the most fun events I have been to, I highly suggest you check it out.
