Tuffy Tire & Auto Service Center

I didn’t even go here for service. I went to do a Geico insurance review and these guys couldn’t have been nicer. Very different experience than what I had to deal with at the Curry Ford location. I was in and out within 10 minutes and they were just as busy as the Curry Ford location who could have given a crap about me. If you are choosing between Tuffy’s I would definitely choose this spot on the East Side of town.

I went to this shop mostly because of location location location. I could leave my car and walk home. Well, that is no longer enough reason to go here. I was in a while back and got my starter replaced. I was asked to fill out an online survey and wanted to give an informed opinion so I researched the part (yep, I should have been informed BEFORE the work not after but better late than never) I decided the mark up on the part was too high and my survey reflected that opinion. The manager, Bill, got back with me and offered to work with me on the quote they had given me for replacement of the fly wheel. That was appreciated but I found another mechanic that I trust and had the fly wheel replaced by him (St James Auto).
After some months went by I got a coupon in the mail from Bill «$ 10 off any service over $ 20». Alright, this guy is really trying to win me back. I thought to give them another chance. I went in there today to have a tire repaired. The guy at the counter wrote up my ticket and when I showed him my coupon he said that he couldn’t honor it for a tire repair… is tire repair not a service? I’m sure there would have been an excuse for not honoring it for any other service I couldn have wanted for one reason or another… although I never really got a reason it couldn’t be honored for my tire repair.
I said «never mind» and walked out. There are too many other choices of tire places and I went to Action Gator Tire. It turns out the tire was not repairable and I got an new tire from them.
One customer lost over ten bucks. The wait was going to be over an hour to check the tire, so it looks like they are plenty busy enough and don’t need my business anyway.

I went to Tuffy near Rouse Rd on East Colonial a few weeks ago to have my struts replaced. They did the work for price they quoted and finished on time too. I have barely driven my car since then. This week I bought new tires and the mechanic noticed that both of my rear struts had loose bolts. They were so loose that the bolt had almost fell off. I posted a pic showing how far out the bolt was. All four bolts were that way. The front struts had been tightened. They apparently only hand tightened the bolts on the rear struts. The tire shop tightened the bolts for me. They recommend I return to Tuffy to have them inspect my struts. I will not be doing that. I will take my car anywhere else.
