Valhalla Bakery

We went to the Market on South when we were in Orlando the other day. The restaurant was still closed but Valhalla Bakery was already open, so I got a doughnut and a cookie with some kind of icing filling (if that makes sense — sorry, I forgot what it was called). While the cookie was way too sweet for me, the doughnut was the most amazing vegan doughnut I’ve ever had!!! I loved it!!!
Plus, the people who work there are really nice. Will definitely be back!

I arrived on a Sunday around 11am, wait time in line was about 15mins. I ended up ordering a half dozen ($ 15) and a Nanaimo bar ($ 4.50).
Green Chocolate Matcha — Bold chocolate green tea flavor
Fruity Pebbles — Colorful, fruity pebbles cereal on top tasted a tad bit stale.
Glorious Glazed — The Best Flavor above all in my opinion!!!
Nanaimo Flavored — Had coconut/​chocolate crumb glaze with a dollop of rich cream on top
Cookie Dough — Chocolate glaze was delicious! Cookie dough bites placed in center of donut hole
Nanaimo Bar — This was worth the trip! Firm chocolate top coating, with rich luxurious cream in the middle, with a chocolate crumb/​coconut crust on the bottom.
Overall these donuts and Nanimo bars were amazing!!! The donuts taste best if eaten on the same day, but can last 1 more day. Being a vegan I am so grateful Orlando has this wonderful bakery in our community that cares to make the best vegan desserts!

Vegan is just not for me… at least I can say I tried it. I was also very excited about trying these donuts that everyone keeps raving about, but I can honestly say I’m not a fan. I thought they were too doughy and dense. The flavor was not what I was expecting and I do think they are too pricey despite the size. I can buy a dozen KK for the price of two donuts at Valhalla. I looked in the case and noticed that everything was pretty pricey especially a small tart which was $ 9.00! I will stick to traditional bakeries even if it’s not healthy.

I was so excited to try the doughnuts when I saw all the Unilocal pictures. Unfortunately, pictures can be a little deceiving. The doughnuts look amazing, big and fluffy but it was not what I expected. We came a little too late and had very limited options. These doughnuts were basically all the same glazed doughnut base with just a different topping/​icing. They were extremely sweet and dense and pricey! I expected the doughnuts to be fluffy and airy but it was more doughy and dense. Wish the doughnut itself had different flavors or were filled instead. Although the doughnuts look very appealing, this was a miss for me.

I ordered my wedding cake from Valhalla bakery. Celine was great to work with, answering all of my numerous questions. She also mailed us our cake samples since we were planning our wedding remotely. But most importantly, the cake was absolutely delicious and 100% vegan! We ended up going with two flavors of cupcakes: key lime and chocolate caramel. We also ordered a small bride & groom cake, chocolate cake with vanilla butter cream, caramel drizzle, and candied pecans. When we stopped by the next day to drop off the cake stand the Celine was nice enough to provide, we also had some of her famous donuts. They were outstanding and decadent. I highly recommend Valhalla.

In case you were wondering, yes — it is that good.
So, yah, it’s vegan. And, no, I’m not. And, yes, it was that good anyway. What was that good? THE DONUTS. I was a little nervous about the vegan thing because, in my home baking experience, eliminating ingredients like eggs and milk makes things taste like garbage. At Valhalla, it’s pretty much like they found a way to make things taste BETTER. It might be magic.
The donuts are worlds above any donuts I have had in Orlando –and I thought I had a favorite before. I am pregnant and therefore an expert on all things donut. They are cakey, flavorful, with unique flavors that aren’t so unique that they sacrifice taste. We had the Fruity Pebbles, the Strawberry Peach and the chocolate.
If you need someone to cover your shift at work or something, show up with a dozen of these and people will be eating out of your hands… literally.

This place has certainly earned a local reputation as THE place to go for vegan baked goods. My wife and I decided to give it a shot after friends gave it rave reviews and it was good… for vegan baked goods.
We are likely in the minority but we thought it was good, just not great. We waited 45 minutes in a line around the building (usually a great sign) but the donuts failed to stand out. They have some unique flavors like root beer float, but the cake portion just wasn’t flavorful enough. I’d recommend it for those with dietary restrictions or choices though.

Sorry, but I don’t get it. I just can’t hop on the donut bandwagon. The donuts were good, especially for being vegan, but not worth the price or waiting 30 minutes in line for. Sure the donuts are photogenic, but at the core they’re all the same freaking donut. And the donut itself isn’t even that good. Yeast donuts should be light and fluffy and these were way too dense. I could buy a plain yeast donut from anywhere, slather some peanut butter on it, and sprinkle it with Oreo crumbs and I’d enjoy it just as much without the cost or wait. The root beer float donut was a creative idea but ultimately didn’t live up to its namesake. A regular old maple bar done right would be just as good. I’m glad I checked Valhalla Bakery off the list but I won’t be returning.

This gem is located inside Market on South.
I am timid in admitting this to some because I don’t want them to be thrown off but this spot is egg free + dairy free — Yep Vegan delights. Don’t you dare think that takes away from the flavor, because it doesn’t. If you were not told this fact, you would have no idea. Also, just because it’s Vegan, doesn’t mean it’s healthy but sometimes it’s good to splurge =)
– The Doughnuts –
The size of a baby’s head. They are huge and I love it.
GO EARLY! They sell out and as soon as you taste these suckers you will know why. The personally recommend arriving by 8:15am (Monday-​Saturday) or 11:15 am (Sundays) to ensure availability.
The flavors are different daily and they do a great job of listing them on their Instagram each AM. My personal favorites are: Earl of peach, Cookies n’ Scream and Butterfinger.
Dying to try: Chocolate strawberry float, The «Loki» (coconut ash cherry) and Blueberry Violet.
And you HAVE to try the Fruity pebbz! I mean, Fruity pebbz!
– The YOLOs –
YOLO Cookie is a must! It’s messy but worth it. It’s a sugar cookie sammie with delicious cream. Light, fluffy and delectable. My favorite is the strawberry one… so far. LOL.
– Bars –
The Nanaimo bar — thank you, Canada! This creamy, velvety sweetness is a luxury for your sense of taste and feeling. Just think wafer, custard, chocolate combo. Yep.
They take special orders too so hit them up for cakes, pies, really anything that is glorious and sweet. I have seen their full cakes in person and they are glorious.

Orlando just keeps getting more awesome because really cool people have the courage to open up their own businesses. These donuts are not icky sweet so don’t expect Krispy Kreme. They are kind of cakey with out if the ordinary flavored. My son recommends fruity pebbles!

The donuts of heaven. Seriously, try any and every flavor. They are all amazing and you won’t regret it. They sell out FAST and the line goes out the door so get there early!

Whenever I dream of donuts, which happens more often then I would like to admit, I’m dreaming of the delicious, soft donuts at Valhalla.
Do they have angels working overtime to make these delicious dreamy donuts? My answer is yes… I mean I assume so because they are that freaking good. A not so secret fact about me is that I love donuts and Valhalla has some of the best donuts I’ve ever had. I have a coworker that frequents Market on South and whenever I hear she’s going, I throw cash at her and beg her to pick me up a donut.
When I’m not making it rain at the work place, I’m up at 7 am to make the trip downtown to ensure that I’m there at 8 sharp to pick up donuts. I’ve had my fair share of vegan baked goods and NO ONE comes close to the magic Valhalla bakes up. Nothing is dry, the quality and taste is always consistent and most importantly everything is delicious.
Now, I’ve seen some people complain about them getting sold out of donuts but they only make a limited batch every day. And they are that amazing that yes they sell out quickly.
I love my sleep as much as a love donuts… maybe even more… But I will get my donut loving booty up at the crack of dawn to make my way there in time to get my fix. I guess my point is, just make sure you get there early to get your donuts. I think the latest I’ve ever gone on a Saturday was 9:30 am.
For reference, my favorite donuts are the S’mores and the Pistachio Rose. If you want to try out some of their other baked goods, I recommend their lemon bars!

I absolutely love coming to Market On South and Valhalla Bakery. Although I am not vegan or vegetarian, I love to try vagan and vegetarian food. I have my top favorite vegan alternatives and this is hands down my favorite doughnut alternative. I don’t think you can find a doughnut in Central Florida that can compete with a Valhalla doughnut! Market on South is very trendy. They sell a lot of local items from all kinds of small businesses in the area. It’s always clean and I’ve always been greeted by smiles when I walk in!
The doughnuts are not your traditional doughnuts. They are square shaped with a hole in the center and are MASSIVE. I can only (unfortunately) usually finish one in a sitting! They are fresh, fluffy, and there is a great balance between glaze and dough! The flavors aren’t always the same they always change, but my favorites to date are Dr. Pepper, Fruity Pebbles, biscoff, regular glazed, and the blueberry maple. During the week I’ve never had an issue getting a couple of doughnuts in the morning BUT on the weekends they have a line before they even open! Be advised if you plan on grabbing some on the weekend! Currently the BEST doughnuts in Orlando!

If you’re into vegan, delicious & huge donuts, this is your spot to be at. They have a variety of different donuts to choose from at a reasonable price, and all are pretty damn good!
They post what’s new or popular on Instagram, so I’d recommend you speed your way over when you see something posted, because they sell out quick.

Where do I even begin? Was there a time in my life before the greatness that is Valhalla bakery?
All I know is I’m probably close to diabetes because the amount of donuts I have consumed since I was introduced to this heavenly place 5 months ago.
I am a HUGE donut person and let me tell you THESE ARE THE BEST DONUTS IN THE WORLD. THE VERY VERY BEST. vegan or non vegan. Unbelievable.
But remember, they aren’t just a donut shop and have lots of other tasty treats as well.
If you want a donut I’d recommend setting your alarm and getting there when they open. I’ve never had to worry about flavors being out with this strategy!

My friend and I thought long and hard about what to order. Afterall, picking the right dessert is serious business. We decided to get the following items: Gimme S’mores, Nanaimo Bars, and the Fruity Pebbles Tart. The tart won our award for prettiest dessert. The s’mores took home an award for tastiest. While the Nanaimo nailed the most unique category because you typically only find them in Canada. The next time I’m in Orlando, I must try the square shaped donuts.

Great alternatives for vegans and vegetarians. This is a small nook near Downtown Orlando. It gets PACKED! Be there early if you want to grab some donuts and pastries because they sell out fast. Creative flavors and good customer service. We has half a dozen of donuts and selected: My Cherry Pie, Bluberry donut, penut butter and oreo, regular glazed and pistachio. The price was approximately $ 3.00 per donut. I’m not a huge donut fan, but these donuts were delicious. They serve brewed coffee too, which is «just ok», nothing special. But if you like donuts and are vegan/​vegetarian, this is the place for you. Two brewed coffees and half a dozen donuts came up to $ 20.32.

Finding decent vegan treats can be a challenge, but Valhalla has definitely got a handle of it. Sometimes vegan desserts can be dry and tasteless but at Valhalla everything is moist and baked with care. For the unassuming patron walking in to the space I’m confident they would not be able to tell.
Let’s start with the donuts. They are massive, dense, and the flavor combinations are out of this world. Definitely get there first thing in the morning because these guys go fast. Every day they have a cereal based donut, floral one, and fruit. I’ve had the fruity pebbles, thin mints, salted caramel brownie, blueberry lemon, pistachio rose… I won’t go on. I have yet to meet a donut I didn’t like.
Besides the donut craze Valhalla also has cinnamon rolls (when available) brownies, cookies, and assorted bars and tarts. I’ve tried practically everything in the case, and my go to will always be their brownies. These treats usually last throughout the day so if you’re going for lunch or dinner you will have a good chance of snagging some.

Looking forward to heading back here and getting a donut next time! My sister and I headed here later in the day, and the donuts were all sold out, but I’ve heard great things, so I’ll try again earlier next time. They had a fantastic looking cookie sandwich with bourbon frosting that I opted for this time around.
The inside atmosphere was quirky and fun. The cookie sandwich was awesome, however there was too much frosting for me, so I did end up removing some. If you love frosting, you’ll love the cookie sandwich!
There are also tons of fun things to look around at while you’re there, so take a peek and walk around.
