overpriced. Service and ambience are great but prices are ridiculous for what you get in some cases. The meat is low quality and chewy but others at my table enjoyed the breakfast meals.

Cassie, our server was nice but not very attentive, we had to go find her on two occasions because she did not check up on us within 15-min spans. The place was dead but it took over 45 mins to get our food and on one other occasion goto the bar for more margaritas. The most frustrating part was ordering the veggie taco’s and the rice and beans were cold, and the taco description on the menu was nothing like the actual tacos. I’ve never been to a place where the menu description was different from the actual food. This was the first time I’ve had to send my plate back and decided to NoT order anything else due to the slow service and food taking a long time. I would not go back because of the service, food, and you do not get chips and salsa like every other Mexican restaurant. Good thing we ordered guacamole which came with chips and salsa, but not enough salsa. Place wasn’t even busy. I hope this review helps the business owners and they fix things otherwise I don’t see this place lasting very long. Thanks and happy birthday to my mother in law.

I had heard this place had great tacos and I’m a huge fan of tacos so naturally I had to try them. Under the logo that’s displayed outside, it says«Mexican Soul Food,» which I found intriguing but confusing. Now, I don’t think there’s a better way to describe the food at Verde Cantina. The only other way is to say, very delicious. I had to try the tacos so I asked for suggestions and I am glad I did! I got the carnitas taco and the carne asada taco. The meal also comes with rice and beans. The carnitas taco was so good, but the winner of the two was definitely the carne asada taco. So full of distinct flavor and it was packed full. The rice was okay, but the beans were were great. Next time I’m definitely asking for double beans. If you go, see if Damon is there and if he is, try to sit in his area. Very nice and very helpful. I will definitely be going back.

On a Monday evening around 6:30pm, it was pretty empty. My party of 5 got seated right away and food and drinks came out quickly but after our food was served our server was out of sight. When we were finished, it took awhile for her to reappear to the point where we almost had to get up and go to the bar and ask for someone. But even then, no one appeared to be behind the bar so we felt like we were in an entirely empty restaurant the majority of the time. As for the food, we ordered empanadas, chips and salsa, meatballs, and queso fundido as apps. Everything tasted great. My husband was very pleased and impressed with the empanadas. He quoted they were the best he’s had but I told him you gotta try Tako Cheena’s as IMO, they’re the best. My favorite was the queso fundido. I would order both of those again. I didn’t get to try the meatballs but 2 of my friends said they were delicious. For my meal, I got the chicken enchiladas but requested the red sauce vs. the green one. I also should have verified what type of tortilla it came in because I don’t like corn and that’s what it came in. The menu didn’t say what kind either. The chicken inside was shredded and was ok but a little dry and bland. There wasn’t enough red sauce on the enchilada either. I like mine pretty wet and it was more like a thin drizzle. My other friends all got different tacos and everyone seemed to enjoy theirs as I heard no complaints. I would go back again but would try the tacos next time. My friend ordered the sangria and let us all have a taste and it was pretty good! I would definitely order that next time.

Was driving in the area and spotted this cute little Mexican spot. Sat in the outdoor sidewalk area and the service was great. I wouldn’t recommend getting any drinks there. It literally tasted like juice. They probably added a drop of tequila to my margarita. The food was ok. If you are expecting a good Mexican meal this is not the place for you. The tacos needed extra flavor. I wasn’t impressed but would probably return for the chips and salsa and to sit outdoors

I waited before I returned to see if things had improved since my initial visit. I didn’t necessarily have a bad first visit but I wasn’t impressed. Second visit and it wasn’t better, it was actually worse. The food was decent during my initial visit but this time left not much to be desired. My carne asada taco was drenched in this weird salad like dressing that made the taco very soggy and difficult to eat. It was just gross. The service was faster, but I guess that’s because they just threw an old salad and meat together to make my meal. One star for the location and décor, another for a friendly waitress. I can safely say I will not be returning nor can I recommend them to others.

Amazing food, presentation is great, portions are great, flavors great, definitely should stop by if you’re in the area. My server was super polite and attentive, will be back soon. I ordered the Aztec rice bowl with chicken, my sister had the carne asada tacos. Both were full of flavor and there was enough to bring some home. We also ordered the papas locas which were amazing! Large portion, it would probably feed three people. Overall great experience for our first time eating here.

Not sure why this place only has 3 stars. I really liked it here! So much so that I came twice in one week. Their happy hour deals are awesome. $ 1.50 for chips and salsa! I tried the Fish Tacos and the Pork Belly Tacos which come with rice and beans. The rice was a bit stale and hard, but the beans were good. They do offer corn and flour tortillas which is nice for people avoiding gluten. They had good drink specials as well — $ 4 for a big margarita. The white sangria which is also yummy. My boyfriend and I split one order of tacos(3 tacos) and the chips and salsa which was filling for the both of us! It’s a great deal, and I’d definitely come back.

Fantastic place! Everything is fresh and an authentic Mexican style. We got their carnitas burrito and steak quesadilla — amazing! Their queso is no joke. Also get their sparkling sangria. $ 4 a glass, really fresh a bit of a peach and guava flavor. Needless to say, we ordered seconds.

To sum it up. Watery Beans. Old Tomato Rice. Old Salsa. Considering those are the 3 basic foods of a Mexican restaurant and Catina Verde failing at all 3, might as well look elsewhere. Eh, horrible aftertaste as I’m leaving this place as well.

I must say that I was excited at first to try this place because when we walked by their margaritas and sangrias looked very good. We went inside and had about 30 minutes left of Happy Hour so we ordered some margaritas. They were the saltiest, worst tasting margaritas I’ve had in a while. They were extra watered down but still managed to taste like salt. We also ordered some chips and salsa which you would think nothing can ever go wrong with them. The salsa was really bland, I asked for salt to bring some flavor into it but never received it. I also ordered some hot sauce. Being a Mexican Restaurant you would think they have nice authentic, thick, hot sauces– or maybe a variety of sauces– but they didn’t. They brought be a bottled hot sauce that tasted just like Tabasco, nothing special. I must say that our of the six plates we ordered as entrees, nothing was right. The chorizo quesadillas were just regular tasting and SO not worth the $ 12 – 13. The tacos were really under stuffed. So we also paid around $ 13 for three under stuffed tacos. It was like some bites were even missing carnitas and all. My sister ordered the mexican empanadas which I would have to say was the best thing in the table but still very stingy with the feeling. It was like eating pure fried dough which I can’t argue with. But an empanada is supposed to have a bit more filling so that if I hold it upright it doesn’t all go to the bottom– which was exactly what happened. My dad ordered the mexican burger because it looked really good on all the pictures on Unilocal but it tasted like nothing special to us. Lastly, the mexican soup was just chili with some broth, not what the waitress explained. Other than the food being tasteless and the price being a bit above average, the waitress was very attentive and made sure we always had water and our glasses were always full.

I really hope this place steps up their food game because it’s a great location with amazingly attentive and friendly service. Taco Tuesday is a joke. How is $ 2.50 for a tiny taco a good deal? It comes with raw, shredded veggies and no sour cream or guac or pico or salsa! Nothing! Incredibly bland, we had to ask for hot sauce just to give it some flavor. They don’t even give you chips and salsa to start. $ 3!!! Chips and queso is $ 9! Unbelievable. Salsa is very, very bland. Update: Queso is really delicious. Overpriced… but delicious. Veggie burrito is huge, comes with everything you need on the side, and has amazing flavor!

You guyssssss! I am crushin’ on this new spot, hard! I have been twice and had two fab experiences. Super happy a solid Mexican spot is in this area now. It took over the Tijuana Flats that used to be here so it’s a nice breath of fresh local biz up in here. I see a ton of reviews commenting on the pricing but I don’t think it’s unreasonable based on the experience + quality of both times I have been so far. Outdoor seating for the win, especially during our amazing weather right now. We posted up outside last week and our server was hilarious and very attentive. This past Sunday we also dined, but inside this time and our server was good too. They did run out of steak in the early evening on Sunday but not a deal breaker. Make sure to get the Queso fundido if you love cheese and add the chorizo for a little meaty texture and small kick. The tortilla chips are light and delicious. The guac is fresh and tasty too. Can’t go wrong there. Went for the Mexican burger w/fries and HOLYWOW! It was amazing. I know what you are thinking, a burger at a Mexican place. Wait for it… Mexican chorizo & ground beef w/Oaxaca cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and a guacamole spread. Not to mention the bread was out of this world. It was seriously everything I needed in that moment. Wait, I lied. The burger + their Sparkling sangria was(like for serious, serious now) seriously everything I needed in that moment. Don’t go without trying their sparkling sangria, I am not even sure what’s in it and I don’t think I want to know because they go down so dang smooth that it’s dangerous. It’s a white wine base and it’s so magical that you will want at the very least, 4 of them.(I promise.) On my second visit, since I already made food love to the burger, I gave the chicken quesadillas a chance: achiote marinated grilled chicken w/queso blanco and they delivered as well. Cooked perfect with a great amount of filling: tortilla ratio. I am so happy this spot is open now and I can’t wait to try more off their menu and, of course, drink 4 more sparkling sangrias each time as well!

I really don’t know what to say. I really want to like this place but when I went for Taco Tuesday things were very mediocre. I tried all 3 meat tacos. The carnitas tacos were the best by far. The others were too bland. The guacamole that we ordered for $ 9 was extremely bland and tasted like strictly avocado. P. S. If you are wanting to try the avocado yourself they offer a decent portion of it for a $ 1 side. I will be back to try other items on the menu that others have talked about on Unilocal. But my initial impressions are that this is too expensive and that this has a very bland taste. UPDATE: the burritos and chimichangas are be far my favorite items on the menu and are well worth the price. Anything with their pork belly or Carne asada is also worth it.

We live around the corner and used to frequent Tijuana Flats all the time. Well we decided to give this place a try. It left a lot to be desired. I’ll start with the good. The house margaritas are large and yummy and at $ 6 were a pretty good deal. Also the queso fundito(with chorizo) was good(though a little pricy at $ 12). Which brings me to the next point — it’s overpriced. I have absolutely no problem dropping $ 80 for two on a great Mexican dinner. Unfortunately this was not a great meal. We ordered the pork belly tacos and they were cloyingly sweet — didn’t even finish them. It desperately needed some freshness or something. We also tried the carne asada enchiladas which were basically«boring» — not a ton of flavor going on there. The sides of rice had literally almost no flavor. The only real flavor I got was from the flecks of cilantro. Finally, the service while friendly was EXTREMELY slow. So much so they brought us free beer to hold us over. We’re talking almost an hour to get our entrees, 15 minutes for a margarita, etc. And the place was maybe ¼ full if that. Our waiter told us it would be just a few minutes while they melted the cheese on the enchiladas(we laughed because we couldn’t find any cheese on these!). Total bill for 3 small tacos, 3 smallish enchiladas, the queso dip and drinks was $ 80. We didn’t feel this was worth it. We will wait to see what adjustments they make before returning. If they don’t make some changes, they won’t be around long. Especially with Mucho around the corner which while not«excellent» is a better and a hell of a lot cheaper. Also, the two booths against the half wall(between the bar area and the lower area are incredibly tight. Try to avoid those tables.

I’ve been here 3 out of the 4 nights that they’ve been open, i liked it that much. The Carnitas chimichanga was one of the best chimichangas I’ve ever had and i eat chimichangas at every Mexican restaurant I visit. The fish tacos were great and even the Caesar salad was tasty which surprised me. Turns out they make all of their sauces in house including the Caesar dressing. On top of the food, the real reason I came by in the first place is that they have an excellent cocktail menu. The first drink i tasted was the Tres chiles old fashioned(Tres generaciones Añejo, orange bitters, three chile syrup and an orange zest). It was amazing. Smoky sweet and a little butte on the back end. I cannot recommend this cocktail enough. Then i switched to my go to, whiskey. They have a small selection of high end bourbons, nothing to wrote home about, so i settled on Woodford. I asked about the selection and was told that they choose to focus on the tequila first(understandably so) then build on their selection in other genres as they move forward. I made them promise to bring in a single barrel soon though. Today(their first Sunday), i decided to drop in and try the brunch. I haven’t ordered food yet so I’ll update later but i have visited the Body Mary bar. Yes, you heard me right, a BLOODYMARYBAR! I immediately ordered a Bloody Maria(mary with tequila instead of vodka) and am about half way through. I had to stop and wrote this review so I wouldn’t forget. Do yourself a favor and visit this spot!
