If it was not for our hardworking and attentive server, I would have given this restaurant 2 stars. This restaurant was so understaffed that I had to wait a couple of minutes before greeted by the hostess. Our poor waiter also had to attend to everyone else in the restaurant. To our pleasure, he met all of our needs right on time with a positive attitude! As for the food, everything was just mediocre. I opted for their soup of day, which was corn chowder, and mussels. The corn chowder was on the salty side just like any other American restaurant soup. They also added bacon to the chowder so it had a full punch of flavor. The mussels that were cooked in a tomato sauce were prepared perfectly. I was happy to find the mussels to its full plumpness and flavor. However, the sauce was wayyyy too salty. I often like to enjoy the broth with a fresh baguette, but it was overly salty that it made that impossible. My friend ordered a NY strip that was boneless. Be prepared to get it cooked not to your liking. She asked for medium, but it turned out to be well done. As for the taste, it was obviously dry and tasteless. I’d have to say that this was one of our better meals during our stay in Orlando.

I found the quality of the bar to be rather poor. The bar tender’s service was not good. I have an electronic voucher for 2 free drinks to be presented to at the bar, which they would not accept. Took me about 10 minutes to square that away at the front desk. After that was fixed, the bartender was still rude, and resistant to serving requested drinks. He gave us a hard time. We ordered several rounds after the«free» round, and when we were ready to check out our tabs, it took him about 15 minutes to complete the process. This was not acceptable in my book. One final note: I observed the bar tender washing glasses while we were seated at the bar. He just dipped the glasses in soapy water, sloshed them around a bit, and put them up on the bar to drain. No scrubbing or wiping observed. Judge that for yourself.

I was in town on business looking for a place for dinner with my coworkers when we stumbled upon this place and encountered what tops my list for oddest restaurant experiences ever. Four of us decided to give this place a try and walked in only to be ignored for 5 minutes. When someone finally walked over to greet us, he told us it would be a 45 minute wait as they were completely busy. This was a rather odd comment to us as we could easily see 5 – 6 open tables with only 7 tables occupied max. Regardless, we weren’t in any rush, so we asked if we could sit at the bar instead and were told we could. We walked over to the bar and immediately the four cooks in the kitchen began staring at us. When I say staring, I mean staring. They all crowded around the small porthole window in the door to the kitchen(which just happened to be right behind the bar) and started glaring at us and even shaking their heads at us. At first we thought maybe they were looking at someone else, or were even kidding, but as the glares persisted, it became clear we were not welcome. It took about 10 minutes of being glared at by these cooks along with no one stopping by to even see if we wanted drinks for us to just give up. During this time, another couple walked in to try to get a table and were promptly turned away as the angry cooks stared them down as well. It was just incredibly odd. When we asked to sit at the bar and were told yes, we figured it wasn’t a problem, but obviously it was. I would rather that the maitre d’ would have just explained that unfortunately they couldn’t help us tonight instead of letting us sit down only to be glared out of the place. Obviously I can’t speak to the food or the service since no one came to help us at all and we weren’t even given a chance to order, but from what we did experience, I would not recommend Vista Bistro.

Had the Sweet Chili Calamari App and the Seared Ahi Tuna as the entrée. Have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Both dishes were asian inspired with the calamari flavored with chili sauce and the ahi tuna with wasabi sauce. Both dishes had minor flaws, but were pleasant overall. The ahi tuna was on the cusp of being great, it just needed more wasabi sauce on top and actual white rice. Service was exceptional. Wilson was the only waiter on staff but he made sure everyone was taken care of. I honestly hope they pay him well because he practically does everything other than cooking the food. Overall, the Vista Bistro served its purpose; decent food at a fair price with attentive service. Side note: I do agree with a previous post regarding the bartender lacking in service.

We sat at the bar because we wanted to watch the TV. The bartender disappeared for 15 min because he had to deliver room service. Appetizers took 20 min. Grilled salmon dinners were over cooked. We will not go back.

You can certainly do better in Orlando. The caprese appetizer was ok as well as the Cesar salad, but the grouper was dry and overcooked. Place was empty, guess why? Everything is a-la-carte.

Walked over from the Caribe convention center for a «quick» lunch. Group of 10 with not many other guests eating or waiting in the restaurant. Waiter took our food order, but other than provided water, took no drink order. We told waiter we wanted a drink order, which went in 20 min after we arrived. 40 min after placing our food order for salads and sandwiches, asked what was taking so long, to be told they were working on it. Another 10 min and the meals finally arrived, with nothing that looked it would have taken that long. Taste was mediocre at best for my grouper sandwich, with no offered add-ons other than salt/pepper at the table(had nothing on the sandwich). Gave an extra star, since a few said their salads were at least good. Maybe the chef or waiter was having a bad day, but I’d make sure you have enough time when planning to eat at the Vista Bistro. On a separate note, the hotel’s main desk bellhop was very accommodating, allowing me to borrow an umbrella for the sudden shower that started during lunch, and retrieve our vehicle to transport everyone.

Appalling from beginning to end. Wanted to start off with an Old Fashioned but for some reason, a restaurant/bar in FLORIDA did not have a single orange to make my drink. Strike One. Played it safe and ordered a rib eye steak with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. My steak was about a quarter of an inch thick(for $ 30?) was tough and had no flavor. Strike Two. The sides were awful too — dry, lumpy mashed potatoes and veggies that might have been harvested a few years ago. Strike Three. Didn’t finish and certainly didn’t wait for dessert. g

It is easy to overlook the Vista Bistro. Don’t. It’s inside a hotel, on the south end of Orlando, across from the many fine establishments found at Downtown Disney, and the best website that could be found for it is hosted by a competing hotel. We chose it because it seemed reasonably priced compared to the dining establishments at our hotel(yes, that competing one). When we walked in it was almost empty. It took a minute for a host to show up to seat us and by the time we sat down, we were ready for a mediocre meal. Everything about this place said no one cared. The staff didn’t care(though once they had customers they did become very professional). The food and beverage manager didn’t care. The hotel management didn’t care. Then we got our meal. Oh. My. God. The chef clearly cared. This was easily the best italian food I’ve ever had in my life. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. They were well balanced. The sauces were rich and creamy. Against all odds, the food was amazing. Had the hotel management given this place a little more care or interest, this could easily be one of the best restaurants in Orlando, and that’s saying a lot. All told the Vista Bistro is a hidden gem. It is what everyone hopes the hotel restaurant will be, but never is.
