Best toy shop around. Filled with fun and educational games, toys and puzzles. They carry the best name brands. I love the red balloon

Large shop with all kinds of toys for all ages. I especially liked their large selection of books, puzzles, and Legos. They also have old-fashioned type toys; I got a wooden Dachshund pull along toy that I am in love with. If you like Hello Kitty stuff, they have a great display here. There is a small self-serve gift wrapping table, which was a nice surprise. Staff was friendly.

I have to agree with some of the previous reviews about a rude owner/staff. My son brought in some quarters he had saved to buy some Pokemon cards he wanted. The owner did not want to accept his quarters and told him to get«other» money from his parents. When my wife returned to the store, the owner was still rude and we decided to do business elsewhere.

This place is horrible. The staff is unfriendly and the owners are rude. They are not helpful as we were looking for toys for the age group(11 months to 2) and they couldn’t be bothered with us! Don’t go here, it is a waste of your time!

This review is actually for the Mashpee location. My Daughter needed a gift for a friend’s birthday party, We selected the gifts on Red Balloon’s website and I then called the next day and asked if I could purchase the gifts over the phone for later pick up. I was told I could. Then I asked if they could wrap the gifts ahead of time. The gal on the phone whom later turned out to be the store manager, told me that they had self service gift wrap and that I could do it myself when I came in. I explained that I was pressed for time and would she mind going above and beyond? She agreed to wrap the gifts and have them ready for pickup. Overall a very pleasant experience and when I stopped into pick up the gifts I saw that the store was neat and clean and fully stocked with lots of toys!

I just returned from a very negative experience at the Orleans store My elderly and frail mother and I entered the store to purchase some books for my grandson. My mother is 87 and has trouble with her balance, so I asked the woman behind the counter if there was anyplace my mother could sit for a few moments. The clerk’s attitude was incredibly rude, saying«No, we don’t. There is no place at all for her to sit.» Now, honestly — NOPLACETOSIT? Even if there were no «official» places to sit, don’t you think she could have tried just a bit harder to help us? She could see that my mother was struggling! So I left my mother hanging on to a shelf(not very safe, is that?), went downstairs to the book area, and saw a barber’s chair being used as a floor display. I was able to seat her so she could look at a few books I brought over. We decided on 2, took them to the counter, and when I told the clerk that I found a place for my mother to sit, she said, «Yes, I saw you do that. It’s a display, and you’re not supposed to use that as a seat, but I let you get away with it.» Excuse me? I told her that perhaps the owner should provide some sort of emergency seating, but she was extremely belligerent. Believe it or not, I actually went ahead and purchased the two books, whereupon the clerk asked in a very nasty way if I wanted a bag — and it was RAINING outside! At this point, I asked her for the owner’s contact information, and she absolutely refused to provide it. I live neaby, and would love nothing more than to buy local instead of online, even if it costs a bit more. These stores are competing with Amazon et al — don’t you think it’s wise to treat customers with just a shred of respect?

The Red Balloon Toy Shop is my all time favorite toy store. Even as an «adult» I still makes trips to this toy store every time I go to the Cape. The best part about the Red Balloon is that it has that old-timey toy store feel. It is a very tiny space stocked from floor to ceiling with every toy, stuffed animals, children’s book and game you could ever need to find. In the front there is a train table with Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends that it very hard to resist playing with, and on the other side you can find a pretty awesome assortment of Legos or pirate paraphernalia. Walk down the three stairs in the middle of the store and you will find just about every board game and card game imaginable. It didn’t hit me until now that I could probably find Hungry Hungry Hippos there, which apparently is nowhere to be found offline. Anyway, I have gotten the majority of my board games here, including everything from Scrabble to Cranium, Yahtzee to special editions of Monopoly. You may think if you are visiting the Cape for vacation or a weekend you wouldn’t need a quick fix of board games, but it’s always nice to sit around with some friends drinking a couple brewskis and playing some Cranium from the Red Balloon after a long day at the beach. Ah, summer time… Moving away from the games you will find a large section of stuffed animals of the Gund persuasion. I’ve gotten many a stuffed animal here, and every time I visit I always look to see what they have that may be appealing or cute for someone I know. Across from the stuffed animal stash are plenty of children’s books and activity books for all ages. A lot of the books they have are independent books or MA published books from independent bookstores, and that means you will find a lot of beautiful artwork and nice tales that will absolutely entertain both you and your child. A collector of children’s books, I always find something new and fresh that I can add to my collection. In terms of pricing, the prices are pretty much what you would expect from any game, stuffed animal or books. It’s pretty standard with any other toy store, but occasionally you may be able to find something a bit cheaper. Definitely check out the Red Balloon. It’s a lot of fun, and you’ll instantly feel like a kid again.
