Hands down the BEST coffee I’ve had in quite some time. Will definitely be adding this to my list of stops during my vacations on the Cape!

Liked this place a lot. Right in downtown Orleans. Coffee gets 5 stars, service was attentive and lots of room to sit inside and out. It is also right next to the Cape Cod Rail Trail and the farmer’s market. Hard to describe what they sell inside, a little of everything from candy to soup… A little weird. I had a bagel which was nicely toasted but came with cream cheese in little tubs. Not my favorite way to present a decent bagel; I expect a schmear of cream cheese not a freakin tub! Lots of nuking going on if you want a breakfast sandwich. Best coffee on the Cape so far, the Sparrow blend was light and mellow. Even with a line out the door it was a nice place to chill out and enjoy your morning.

We came here right before the Hot Chocolate Sparrow closed and right after dinner. It was the perfect dessert place, and I wish I could have tried everything. My favorite thing I had was the hot chocolate. I’m a hot chocolate snob, and was delighted by my order. We also found ourselves buying a bunch of different chocolates so we could eat it later and also take it home for our friends and family. The staff were also wonderful and though they were nearing the end of their shift, they helped two out of towners pick out chocolates with patience.

Was a bit disappointed by the chocolate here. Their actual chocolate wasn’t very special, seemed a bit brittle and not very smooth. My favorite of the chocolates I tried was definitely the extra dark chocolate truffle. The molten chocolate cake was good but a bit dense /rich for me. The chocolate mousse I enjoyed more, although once again super rich. The hot chocolate fudge drizzled over the ice cream was really good — probably the best thing in the shop.

We probably went in on a bad day. There were 3 people beside us waiting for their orders to be fixed. I ordered a frozen espresso something — and it was just a cold, syrupy drink. It legit tasted like pure syrup that wasn’t exactly what I would call frozen. They were clearly struggling that day so I just threw it in the trash and left. I’m sure you can’t go wrong with the chocolate, just avoid the food/beverage counter.

Great stop for pastry, homemade ice cream, & coffee. Very popular with bicyclists. The almond cream cake is not to be missed.

If you’re into coffee shops then you have to check this place out. They have a wide variety of coffee beans and blends from around the world, and all of the great pastries are just an added plus. Lemon wedges, pecan squares, coffee cake and torts are just the beginning. I stopped in on a cold rainy day in May, so of course I had to get the Mocha Sparrow: hot chocolate with espresso and house-made fudge. For a buck you can add three house-made marshmallows. It was delicious. My piece of coffee cake was really good. The man at the register seemed a bit frustrated, and for me, the overall vibe was a bit off. I guess I expected some loud music maybe. But I will certainly be back again to see if it’s different. Some of the staff seemed warm and friendly.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a raving review for this place until now. I have come here for years and only sing the highest praises. This place will blow your mind and settle that sweet tooth in a flutter. All your chocolate dreams become reality here and you won’t regret having stepped through the door. It’s got a nice cozy feel to it and beautiful interior with a sit down area as well. One area is dedicated to the chocolate/candies while the other counter offers the drinks. Get both, you must! They even offer giftcards and gift basket type deals which I have purchased for my mom. Let’s just say that box of chocolates didn’t stand a chance! I seriously recommend anything! Now, what are you waiting for? Get on over to chocolate heaven!

Local favorite! Reminds me of old-fashioned ice cream parlor. Desserts and candies here are outstanding and chocolate seems to be their specialty. Try their hot chocolate with house-made marshmallows or a mocha made with fudge sauce. They also offer wide variety of teas — iced or hot.

Great little coffee and confections shop. They have a full line of coffee and tea. Baked goods and a chocolate and candy section. Right off the bike path in the center of town.

The Hot Chocolate Sparrow! My girlfriend and I stopped here for ice cream. The chocolate dipped ice cream is a must try! Crunchy chocolate on the outside and some creamy goodness inside. This is one of the best ice creams I’ve had especially after a long bike ride on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. It definitely worth stopping here and reload on calories after losing some during the ride!

Cute, cozy and they have a great menu of drinks and pastries, plus a wide selection of candies. Definitely stop in for a hot chocolate on a cold day. Perfection! I ordered an apple pastry from them, and though I wasn’t expecting it to be warm, I was surprised when it was cold and rock hard. Definitely not fit to eat. By the time I found out, we were already in the car, so I had to wait until I got to a microwave. Not sure if that was a mistake, but it was just a bit of a surprise that it wasn’t room temperature at the very least.

Mint hot chocolate is five star quality. Not too rich and flavorful! Café Au Lait needs improvement.

Delicious, delicious and delicious. Hot Chocolate Sparrow is a cute coffee shop/café that also sells chocolates and candy. I had the Mocha Sparrow in both the hot and iced varieties and both were awesome. I definitely will make it a point to visit again if we come back to the Cape. Update: I just ate a solid dark chocolate sand dollar from their chocolate store and it was really good, not too bitter. The chocolate tasted like the chocolate in their drinks so if you like your beverage you should like the chocolate too.

I feel like its only fair to give 4 stars, since I’ve only gotten one thing from here one time(frozen hot chocolate). But then again, I did bring home lots more chocolate to enjoy later, so 5 stars it is! The frozen hot chocolate is so much better than a milkshake. I’m not sure what they put in it, but my husband doubted that it could taste that much different than a chocolate milkshake… he soon ate his words when he tried it. They somehow took the best things about hot chocolate, and make them into a tasty frozen treat. It was perfect, and was one of the highlights of my trip to the Cape :)

Large store with a coffee shop, chocolate area, Richardson’s ice cream, pastries. I sampled the grapefruit dozen custard and forgot to ask what exactly was in it because I would have never guessed it by the name– it reminded me of a frozen lemon tart since there were what tasted like bits of crust in there. Nevertheless, it was thick, creamy, and a perfect bite. My skim cappuccino on the other hand was slightly bitter and mediocre. The reason for 4 stars is the samples! Ice cream, vanilla and walnut fudge, and salted dark chocolate– all bite-sized treats that adequately fixed this snack-aholic’s urge, for the moment.

SOPLEASEDWITHTHISPLACE! Home made chocolates(home made York Patties and Chocolate Dipped Marshmallows) and lemon squares to die for! I came here this past 4th of July weekend and I cannot wait to go back when I visit the area again. The redeeming part of this place is the amazing product. One downside is that the place is a little hard to order at. The staff seem disjointed and not communicating well. A POS system would help probably, rather then using Sticky Notes to communicate orders to cause less confusion. Other then this little hiccup in service(a few people in my party had issues with their orders and they had to be corrected) I will be going back and cannot wait to try some other treats!

Wifi is advertised, but connecting is immer kaput. Even when you’re the only ones here trying to use it. Oh, and the coffee is not so great either.

What a gem!!! Was in Orleans around 6pm and was very sad to see that all little shops were closed. Lo and behold the magic of the hot chocolate sparrow. Open til 10 on week days?! And it has the word chocolate in the title?!? Honestly, you can’t just keep driving. The place is so adorable and there is so much to look at. There were customers from 2 years old to 80. The vibe was upbeat and fun. The dessert case was filled!!! This is rare when you go to a café this late in the day. Muffins, cookies, cinnamon rolls, cheesecake, chocolate cake, apple pie, brownies, dessert bars… amazing. I had the crumble apple pie and a chocolate chip cookie and my fiancé had the Oreo cookie bar and a black & white cookie. We split a delicious hot chocolate. Hey, don’t judge… we were on vacation;) Everything we tried was perfection. The hot chocolate was not overly sweet and there was no sign of chalkiness which can happen with hot chocolate. It was perfect chocolatey goodness. The only issue is: there is so much to choose from and it is overwhelming! Ice cream too? Ahh I needed some serious one to decide as I wandered(probably annoyingly) around the dessert case, simultaneously reading ice cream flavors. If you’re in the area and need a treat, go! Do not hesitate. Just go.

Despite the fact that this place has been around forever, for some reason I only started going a couple years ago. And that’s too bad because it’s pretty good. The Sparrow is hard to describe. I usually go at night after dinner for coffee and dessert. They have a good selection of baked goods and ice cream. Also they have breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. I haven’t tried either though. Inside its not really like a traditional coffee shop or even normal restaurant. You order and then take your food/coffee to a table, which may be hard to find during the summer. While they have lots to pick from some of the cakes and fancier items and such can be a little sweet for my taste. But they have turnovers and other baked good that aren’t so sweet and pretty good. I seem to say this quite a bit when I write reviews but It’s fairly expensive for what it is. It’s worth it though. There’s plenty of free parking around the side and in the back. And I believe it’s open all year. Overall I go at least once or twice whenever I’m at the Cape, which is fairly frequently. It’s hard to describe but worth a visit.
