A quick dinner while on vacation we found this hidden gem. Great wings, homemade chips with less salt and not greasy. I really enjoyed their salsa. I wish I could take them home with me. Thanks for a great meal!

Road trip stop, this is right off I95 so good spot to stop for a meal. This is typical mexican but maybe a notch above — everything tasted very fresh including the salads and fresh salsa. Great taco salad options. Quality lunch spot we’ll definitely bookmark this one.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. I was driving up I-95 in the crazy traffic(7 hours from Orlando to Jax) and stopped to feed the kids in Ormond. Of course I hopped on Unilocal to see what was good and this came up. Extra conveniently, there was a pizza place that sold slices next door for the one child that does not eat mexican. So we, as a party of 7, were able to be seated right away at 2:00 on a Saturday afternoon. They have several large tables set up all the time it seems. The server was nice, it was somewhat busy, meaning a little more than ½ the tables in the place were full. Good for a saturday afternoon for sure. As others have mentioned, they bring salsa and some ranch dressing type sauce, that was quite good and popular with the kids too. It reminded me of that creamy salad dressing that Chi-Chi’s used the have way back when that I would always get to dip chips in. I loved that stuff. Shame they are no longer in Florida. In any case, we ordered drinks, the server came immediately to take that order, than maybe 5 minutes later reappeared with the sodas. He got 6 of 7 correct. Pretty good. As an aside, after we ordered he brought round 2 of sodas, this time correct, without anyone asking, and we were plenty full for sodas from then on. We ordered standard dinners, no special requests. The food took a while, maybe 20 minutes or so. Not too bad. Again, he got 6 or 7 right. One child ordered a cheese quesadilla, they brought chicken. She didn’t bother to correct him she was full of chips so that went home and the kids ate it later. It did take him a few minutes to bring the check after we finished but with all the kids it was probably hard to determine if we were done. The platter I ordered to share with my 16 Y.O. son was plenty for us both and then some. It was quite good, although medium rare in mexican = medium well in american I think. It was flavorful and nicely presented. All in all the food was good, the atmosphere was nice, plenty of TVs with football for the teenaged boys and pretty good service. They clearly took pains to make the inside nice. It was comfortable and cozy. The prices were somewhat higher than other comparable places, specifically a few of the dishes I typically get were priced at $ 16-$ 17 and they would be $ 12-$ 13 at the other places I frequent.

The food was very good. Salsa was delicious and I loved the sour cream sauce that was given with chips. Prices were a little higher than I would expect compared to other Mexican resturants in the area. Server told us they had just revamped the menu and they didn’t have a kids menu for us to look at.

Without being too over zealous I must say it was the best steak I’ve ever had how they can make a flank steak so tender is beyond me and I’m no spring chicken to steak and of course everything that went with it was very good but the steak just stood out so flavorful and so melt in your mouth and remember I am talking about a flank steak which used to be one of the cheapest cuts in the country.

I am a Mexican food snob. Most Mexican restaurants use a lot of cheap and processed ingredients instead of putting in the work to make fresh semi-healthy and tasty food… not this place! I am big on Tex-mex and authentic Mexican food and I can fully and happily recommend this establishment as a great mix of the two. Nice heat when you want it and excellent flavors for those not so daring. Try it out!

I’ve always been a big guacamole girl, but Breaking Bad fans know the scene where the waiter is super passionate about the table-side quac, while Hank and Walter are in the middle of that super serious scene? Awkward and hilarious, and I’ve been wanting table-side quac since then. What a great excuse to hit up Agave while visiting my mom in Ormond, and after reading thru the reviews, I was sold. We hit them up on Labor Day weekend, which seemed to be perfect timing, as everyone else was at the beach or grilling out. There was a decent crowd inside, but the weather had just cooled down, so we opted for outside seating. And of course started with the table-side quac, which was fresh and delicious. You can choose your spice level, and while it needed just a *tad* more lime juice(momma is always right) it was still really good and hit the spot. I also spied the chorizo queso… so that was up next, and what came was kinda unexpected.(I didn’t read the menu description, I just saw chorizo and cheese and said, yes please. So when it came out, thinking it was more of a saucy dip, our chips broke almost instantly, trying to get a bit, because this is more like Saganaki. You’ll definitely need a fork and maybe a knife, but it comes out all bubbly, in a little cast iron skillet, and is totally yummy, but not the typical queso style dip you might be used too.(It’s worth the extra effort thou!) I ordered the tacos al carbon, and my stomach only had so much room after a margarita, beer and all of our apps. It was good, and the portions are HUGE! so be prepared to take a lot of food home with you. All in all, our server was excellent, and I’d definitely head back this way.

We decided to come here based on Unilocal recommendations and my husband’s love of Mexican food. We were seated immediately in the middle of a room at a table, which made me feel a little bit like I was in a fishbowl, plus we had a SCREAMING child right next to us. I noticed other tables emptying out and had noticed others outside, so I got up before we ever ordered and asked the hostess if it would be possible for us to move. She said she would look and see what was available. I never heard from her again. I decided to let that go. We ordered queso dip and entrees when our server finally came back to us, which was quite a while. It took a long time for our queso dip to arrive. When it did, it was not even warm. It was barely even in a liquid state. I tried to find our server, but had to flag down another one to ask if he could find her for us. He said he would. He later came back and asked me, «What is that you asked me to do for you?» I explained the situation and he took the queso dip. I also mentioned that my husband never received the soda he ordered. It was taking so long to even receive any of that back that I went back to the hostess stand and asked for the manager. I spoke to him about the issues we were having and he said that his bartender had called out and he was filling in for him(not sure what that had to do with our situation, though). He apologized and said we did not have to worry about paying for the meal. I told him that I was more than happy to pay for our food, I just would like it to arrive and for my husband to get his soda. The food arrived not long after our appetizer queso dip came back to us, hot this time. My fajitas were not really hot at all and didn’t even sizzle like they normally would at a restaurant, but by this point, I could have cared less. My husband said his quesa-tacos with chicken were very good and he enjoyed them. My fajitas were fine but not especially great. When we asked for the check, our server told us that the manager had comped our meal. Our server would also not accept a tip from us, even though I tried to give it to her myself. Overall, not a great experience, but the way they handled everything was really above and beyond.

So good! Service was great, portions were huge, prices are average, clean and nicely decorated. Enchiladas were delicious and if you order the guacamole, it is freshly made right at your table. The chips and salsa tasted yummy, too, and they bring more out without having to ask! Definitely recommend!

To start with, loved the guacamole !! It is unlike the others served in the restaurants I have dined in till date. It has some spiciness to it that goes well with the tortillas. We had the shrimp diabla, fish tacos and flan. I opted for hot vs mild and boy did I shed few tears while I ate them. I felt the spiciness overpowered the flavor of the dish. Should have gone for mild. The fish tacos were delicious. The tacos and the fish felt so fresh — they literally would disintegrate inside your mouth without much effort from the jaws :) The flan was average. More like a custard. Bottom line: Good Mexican food, speedy service and nominal price. Caution: when they say it’s hot. They mean it ! Trust me on this.

We had got take out from this place after a road trip & only wished we could have dined in. I have tasted table side guacamole before, but this one was the best. They add some peppers which add a nice heat. There were very generous in their serving of the tortilla chips. There dinner entrée portions are large & we wished we had ordered 2 instead of 3. The poblano pepper was good & the corn stuffing tasted yummy. The fish tacos was one of the best I’ve tasted & had a lot of flavors. Shrimp in Diablo hot sauce was mild blowing hot for me. My husband seemed to enjoy it though. Flan left a sweet taste to this wonderful meal. Our waitress had the food ready when we arrived for pick up. She also took pains to name each box to save us the trouble of opening each one of them. I simply loved their food & hope to visit them back.

I thought this place was OK. I had lunch fajitas with chicken. The hot platter came out and it was piled high, but most of it was onions, not much chicken. The salsa was decent. The service was fair. The menu was huge, like 5 – 6 pages. Anyhow it was passable but I’m not calling in the mariachi band.

Stopped for gas on drive back from Miami and it was sunset, so of course I pull up the Unilocal app to find a place to get food before I get back on the road for Jax. This place was near AND was Mexican so I called 28 minutes before closing to place an order for take-out and they obliged. The hostess that answered was very friendly. I asked what she recommended and she asked my budget. I said $ 10 – 15 and she said she would make sure I got something good. I thought, «OK, surprise for dinner, I guess.» I found the location easily and there’s a large veranda area in front of the restaurant. When I walked in it was mostly empty(about 5 minutes after my call), and after a few minutes the hostess showed up. She asked if I was the person that called in the order and she said it would be ready soon. I waited, and waited, and waited. For a to-go order placed near closing, I thought my food would be ready sooner. I waited over 35 minutes. The food was good. I ended up with some sort of taco(2 steak and 2 chicken) combination covered with red sauce, tomatoes, peppers and onions. The refired beans with cheese were good, and I enjoyed the guacamole and the bag of chips and salsa. The food was 4 to 5* good, and eating there I think would be a decent experience. However, the wait time and prices made me consider 3* but I enjoyed the food(a very generous serving) that much. My search for amazing Mexican food in FL goes on – I will not give up!
