Deliciously spiced Jamaican food! When I was there, the steam table had a wide variety of mostly vegetarian dishes, but also had medium-spicy-hot jerked chicken, all recently prepared. The intriguing vegetarian dishes made great sides to the chicken. Very friendly and smart service too! The quick food service from the steam table almost made up for the food not being prepared fresh after ordering, which is the only reason I didn’t give Ifa Journey 5 stars.

I downloaded this app just because I was so angry about the quality of food, I didn’t want others to be disappointed either. Visited this resturant for the first time around 4:30 pm. They were completely out of salad and meat, claiming they were still out of food from a festival that happened nearly a 2 weeks ago. I remember because when we tried to go there before, with high hopes, they turned us away saying they were out of food then as well. The food we were served was practically inedible. It was so dreadfully bland-in high contrast to the salivatingly spicy, flavorful jamaican food I adore-that I couldn’t take another bite. If you want to waste your money on this«jamaican» food, go ahead. Anyone can throw some canned food into a stew and boil it down to babyfood texture. I was almost excited that oroville had opened up a jamaican resturant, but now I see that I’ll keep having to go to chico for the AUTHENTIC jamaican.

We came late in the day. Slim pickings much of which was barely room temperature. It’s probably great earlier in the day. Sorry, but I would not go back.

Absolutely delicious! My husband and I are pescatarian and have a hard time finding something affordable and good and healthy while traveling. IFA Journey was a pleasant surprise. Who would have thought we’d find such an amazing spot just passing through? We really enjoyed our meal and the customer service was great. We’ve never eaten Jamaican food, so we needed lots of guidance. Staff was patient and very helpful, sharing their favorites. A must!

Oh my goodness if you haven’t tried this place yet you’re really missing out! My family and I just discovered this place on our way into subway & wow! We absolutely love it! We sampled just about everything & it was all really good. We ordered the jerk chicken, curry chunks, the seafood curry, & the rice & beans. There’s also a lot of really great vegetarian options. We’ll definitely be coming back… Probably on a weekly basis! Awesome Jamaican food :)

If you aren’t going to sell chicken and want to make someone feel bad for ordering it, don’t have a daily special of chicken on the window. I happened to be heading to Subway and saw the special painted on the window for jerk chicken and thought I’d pop in and give it a try. You’d think I’d asked if they served baby seals or something from the looks I got. I guess if you are down for vegetarian food, might be your spot, but if you’re a carnivore this place is probably not your cup of tea.

Wonderful yummy fresh flavorful food! I had the shrimp curry with many of the great sides added to my to-go food container. Lots of vegetarian choices as well. A most welcome addition to the very slim pickings in Oroville. This is my first choice for food when returning to Oroville. A menu and price list are still not posted, so they do need to fix that. However, I received a nice description of all the dishes and was also given a taste of the imitation meat from one of the dishes(tasted very close to meat and was delicious.) I asked about the prices and they seemed a bit high for lunch, so I asked about something smaller. They had a $ 5 option, which turned out to be just right for me. I’m baffled by any negative reviews. It leaves me wondering if some folks aren’t able to tell when food is fresh and tasty. They do serve from a steam table, but it is obviously freshly cooked and transported there for quick service. The rest of my family went to Subway. I stood in the long Subway line for a minute and told them I’m going for Jamaican next door, especially after seeing the friendly faces through the window as we approached. And what did I get when I went through the door? Friendly, friendly, friendly… yum, yum, yum! I would be eating there all the time if I lived in Oroville. Tastiest food option in Oroville and friendly people.

Their food is very tasty, well worth the drive to Oroville. I like that you have the option to eat vegetarian. Try it out.

Really good home made food in an area where most of the good food is Mexican. Happy passing through!

This is THEPLACE for some flavor — filled vegetarian food! Just walk in and breathe in the aromas, receive warm welcomes from Ifa himself and get a combo plate with a goodly portion of everything offered for the day. I can’t wait for my next visit to see and taste what he will cook up next! Healthy tasty food and I didn’t have to leave town to get it! Unlike anything else offered in the area!

All I have to say is «much love and respect». The place is clean, the staff is very nice, and the food is just right, the vegetables are perfrct not over cooked like most places, the beans and potatoes in coconut milk are delicious, the rice is fresh and the chicken was spiced just the right amount. I loved it! Will definitely be back! I hope you guys run that subway out of business, who is gonna want subway when there is a delicious home cooked meal right next door and very healthy too. See you next time!

All I can say is that anyone who gave this restaurant an even remotely positive review based on the quality of the food had to have been put up to it. Jerk chicken had no flavor or heat, everything looked and tasted as if it was made a few days before. Also very over priced. I paid $ 11 for a scoop of rice, 8 little pieces of salad shrimp and a single chicken thigh. I really hope this place gets it together, i’d love to see a quality Jamaican restaurant in Oroville.

The restaurant was clean, and great music playing in the background. I had the sampler plate, that was very good. This was the first time eating Jamaican food and was not knowing what to expect. I was very pleased with the food and serving. Will be going back soon.

Great food with true Jamaican culture. I’m veggie so there are plenty of options. I walked into another great community!!! :D I do suggest more Organic produce and using less Styrofoam just because being Rastafari respects being green and Eco-friendly.

First off, I hate to have to write this because the owner was very nice. But I’ve got to warn everyone – don’t waste your money! I was driving down Oro Dam Blvd & saw the place & went home & looked it up on the internet. Everything on their site looked delicious even though no prices were listed. On their front window they advertise Jerk Chicken, one of my favorites. 1. They have no menu’s, 2. They have no prices listed, 3. The food is pre-cooked and in warmers. The lady had a few items left in the warmers so I figured«OK», because I wanted to try it. $ 11.00 later I’m still kicking myself. I’m on a fixed income so $ 11.00 is a lot for me. This is what I opened up when I got home: 2 pieces of bar-b-cued chicken(a thigh & a drumstick), a large spoonful of long grain rice that tasted exactly like rice-a-roni out of a box and a spoonful of cooked cabbage. I have had authentic Jerk Chicken and I have had bar-b-cued chicken… I’m not the smartest person in the world but I know my food. What I paid for, *I* could have made better and I can’t cook! Absolutely AWFUL. The worst FOOD, let alone Jamaican food I have ever had. Again, I hate writing this because the owner is such a nice lady, but she’s from Jamaica and should certainly know how to cook it. The only thing authentic in this place are the soda’s imported in. If anyone has a positive review about this place I’d like to know what in the hell they ate and if they still had taste buds! Yes, it was THAT bad.

EXTREMELY disappointed with this place. There are no menus in the place, no pricing displayed and you pay after you eat so you can see that you spent $ 27 for 2 plates that seem to have been prepared from a combination of top ramen, frozen veggies and canned greens. Their website displays a menu and pictures that look NOTHING like what they had nor did they even have half of the things on the menu. The other reviews are what made me want to try this place and that was the worst $ 27 spent.

It doesn’t get better than this in Oroville. This little town needed some healthy food to offset all the fast food dross we get to choose from. Ifa has brung us Ital Cuisine and offers it in a quick and convenient way. Go here for lunch or dinner and be sure to ask about what your eating. Ifa can explain it all, he’s a gracious host as well as a talented chef. I give Ifa Journey 5 stars for freshness, originality and convenience. I’ve had lotsa food that equals this, but never in this town. I’ll be a regular for a long time. And as a huge reggae fan I also enjoy his CD, which I bought during my first visit here. Five Stars!!! It’d be 6 if possible.

I am happy to say that I’m the first to review this place, which opened 2 weeks ago. This is a Rastafarian Jamaican restaurant, which means that it’s vegetarian(most Rastas are vegetarian and/or vegan) and also serves seafood. I come to Oroville on business once a month and the eating options are a *little* scarce… I found a flyer for this place at my hotel and it came highly recommended. The food is typical Jamaican spiced and has a combination of vegetarian meatballs, mock jerk chicken, fish, tofu, tempeh and seitan. Each dish is totally different from the next. They also serve non-alcoholic drinks, including coconut water and ginger beer. I thought the food was absolutely fantastic each time I went, and the Jamaican couple who opened it are lovely and welcoming. They owned a restaurant like this in New York and decided on Oroville because the owner is in a reggae band and does shows in this area a lot. Who knew such good food could exist here? They also do seafood, though each time when I was there they had a full ready-made buffet of food and I just chose from that. There were plenty of people in there, looking a little skeptical at first but then looking very happy after eating! You will NOT go hungry either, the portions are huge. I wish them really well and I hope people quickly discover this gem of a place!
