Words can’t describe the feelings I have for the Waffle Shop but I’m going to try. First of all the parking is plentiful, there are more than enough spaces to accommodate each patron that decides to enjoy this wonderful food. Upon entering this establishment I was greeted by a hostess that was exceptionally friendly. She made me feel warm and welcomed like a blanket for a child. Upon being seated, we were able to get a booth by the window which is nice because everyone likes to look out a window while eating breakfast. In fact most people get to sit by a window by the brilliant design of this restaurant. Upon being seated it only took a few minutes for our drinks to arrive and only a few more for our waitress to come and take our food order. I’m somewhat of a chicken fried steak connoisseur so I decided to try theirs. Once that first bite hit my mouth, I felt like I died and had gone to heaven. I haven’t had a better chicken fried steak anywhere else. The moisture was there, the gravy was tasty, and the breading… FORGETABOUTIT! What really topped off the dining experience was that the owner of the restaurant actually came by our table and asked if we were enjoying our food. What a nice touch, it feels good that he is that in tune with his restaurant that he takes the time to ensure that each customer is satisfied. All in all if I could give this place a 6 star rating I would, but 5 stars will have to do. I applaud you Waffle Shop, you will be my go to whenever I’m in Oroville Ca.

Nora was our waitress and was wonderful! She greeting each table as if they were her only customer and took great care of us. We ate the hamburgers that were steakhouse quality and the iced tea was fresh brewed. This is our new favorite weekend stop! A++++++

The food is ok nothing to brag about the first time we dined in here and it took over an hour to get our food and we received no discount we were not impressed with the service at all the second time we ordered to go and they said my order would be ready in 15 – 20 mins and 30 mins later by the time my husband got there it was still not ready

Best waffle ever! My husband and I went there for breakfast around 10am on a Wednesday. The place was busy, but still we had table as soon we walked in. The place was very clean and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Mediterranean omelet, and my husband ordered the Ortega omelet, and both of us shared a pecan waffle. The omelets were so good, and the pecan waffle was the best I have ever had. I will definitely be coming a lot to this place.

We always stop here on our way through Oroville, and it is always good! Excellent breakfasts all day long. My coffee cup was always full. Their waffle selection is the best!

On the final leg of a 3000+ mile three week business and was looking for a good simple basic breakfast to fuel my last 450 miles today. Wasn’t steered wrong. At 8am on a Saturday morning there were over 30 cars and trucks in the parking lot. I always feel that if the local folks like a place, that it’s usually a good sign, and it was. Had the Waffle Combo and coffee — 2 eggs, 4 strips of bacon and a really good basic waffle. Was seated quickly and my food came out fast and hot. Nice staff and plenty of coffee refills. Just the boost I needed.

The ham and egg breakfast special for $ 5 which is available from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. was a good value. It included a slice of reasonable ham, home fries or hash browns, two eggs, and toast. Clean bathroom and friendly staff.

I am soooooo glad I finally tried out The Waffle Shop… I am shocked that there are only a few reviews and few pictures on Unilocal! Today was one of the BEST breakfasts I’ve ever had in Oroville. I got a great first impression. Upon walking in, I liked the shape and style of the restaurant, very long counter, nice window booths! It was busy, Thursday 9am. The Hostess was welcoming and friendly, in fact all the girls working were great and pleasant! I got seated and my server was awesome, great personality, friendly customer service, and Attentive throughout my breakfast. I’ve been on this benny kick the past 6 months, so I ordered Eggs Florentine. I really liked their menu, great choices here for Breakfast and Lunch. I went ahead and ordered a Waffle too, only $ 6.99 which is a fantastic price. The Eggs Florentine came on an English muffin, with tomato slices, spinach, poached eggs, and covered in a good amount of Hollandaise sauce. The Hollandaise sauce was amazing!!! Delicious flavor, thick sauce, nice consistency, warm temperature. The Eggs Florentine was wonderful and it actually tasted healthy, spinach was fresh! I picked hashbrowns for the side, they were cooked perfectly, I really enjoyed those hashbrowns! I was able to eat my whole breakfast because it was so delicious. I only took a few bites of the Bacon Waffle, but it was very good! It had bacon mixed in the batter and came with one strip of bacon on top! I thought that was a nice touch. The syrup came in the cutest little container, and it was Hot!!! I highly recommend trying a Waffle here or at least sharing half. I would love to come back and try a fruity waffle. Overall, I had a great breakfast and got great customer service, can’t beat that! Nice environment here too, I felt very relaxed and comfortable. I noticed Applebee’s is directly across the street, in case you aren’t familiar with the area. One cool thing was as I parked, I saw a mural on the wall. I enjoy seeing murals around Butte County :) Took a few pictures and will post! They are only open 5am to 3pm. To the guys working in the kitchen and whoever cooked my food, great job! I will be coming back soon … Thank you!

I came with my family for Labor Day weekend and was looking for a place to eat brunch. This place had a 4* average so it seemed like a good place to eat. We were seated and served water quickly, but it took 20 minutes before we even had our server approach our table to ask if we were ready to order. There were only 6 other tables but service was extremely slow and the waitress looked annoyed and wasn’t friendly at all. This place is called a Waffle Shop but serves different kinds of brunch foods and lunch foods, but shouldn’t be. I ordered the country fried steak with biscuits and gravy and hash browns. The fried steak was very dry and did not have a lot of flavor. The biscuits were super dry as well and the gravy had no sausage bits or anything to it. My brother ordered the French toast with bacon and wasn’t too bad, but nothing too special either. My mom ordered a chicken sandwich which was alright, but again the chicken was dry. Fries were pretty soggy. My dad ordered the corn beef hash which looked like they dumped a can of corn beef hash onto his plate and didn’t bother making it crispy. However, the country fried potatoes were done pretty well. Overall, experience was mediocre but the food was edible. I would not come back.

This is just the type of place I look for while on a trip. I had the waffle with an egg and sausage on the side. The waitress suggested pecans on the waffle. The food was generous and good. The service was wonderful. The place has that ‘60s feel, but I found it very clean. I think the old style of the place adds to the charm. Next time I’m going to try the biscuit and gravy. It looked great. Overall a great experience.

The country scramble was delicious and service couldn’t have been better! There’s also a large counter with big TVs, so a very nice option for a quick meal while catching up on the news.

Great food for a great price. Takes ya back to the days when your grandparents used to take you out to breakfast at the butt-crack of dawn when you were visiting. Order coffee. Read the paper. That kind of thing.

Good food, great service. Place is old and looks dirty, but I think it’s just an appearance issue. Still the best breakfast place in town. Don’t let the appearance fool you. Very good

We went on a Saturday and waited 50 minutes for breakfast. The waitress didn’t check on us once and we had to get up and ask if the food was coming out then for silverware. Got the food and the eggs were all runny, literally the whites all over the plate almost raw. Biscuits were raw in the middle, not just a little under but dough. Potatoes had a little dirt clod like they hadn’t been washed and to top it off there was a hair in my daughter’s food. When the girl at the register asked how the food was we said not very good. The manager said it was Saturday and they were busy. We will definitely not be back.

It is what it is a breakfast diner. Over-easy eggs were perfect when usually hard at other places. French toast was perfect. Milk ice-cold like I like it. If you want a good ol’ fashioned breakfast this is the place to go.

Food was what you’d expect from a greasy spoon, if not a bit below. Took over 45 min for food to arrive, so definitely skip if you’re in a hurry. Waitresses were attentive. Will probably skip this place in the future.
