Ground Round

I’ve eaten here three time just thinking that the first was the server who had repeatedly walked by our table without asking if we needed refills and sat at the bar, watching someone from our table go to the bar and get their own refill. Food took an extremely long time to get to us. Second time the forgot our party, we were told a 30 min wait and we ended up waiting 2 hours if not longer to sit and then another 20 before getting to order drinks. The meal I ordered was out and the manager asked if I would be alright with mushrooms and hot chicken strips instead of the fajita type meal I ordered telling me it’s basically the same thing. The third time may have actually made up for the first our waitress was very personable and constantly refilled our drinks without even asking, out of all visits there was nothing wrong with the food, the service is the only reason I don’t go

Great place to eat or meet up with friends!!! Love the outside patio and fire pit!!! Best burgers and old fashions as well!

We had the all you can eat Wed, night special BBQ ribs. OMG. great. wonderfull flaver and falling off the bone. Great service and the bar was fun. Will be my first choice out next time.

The food was terrible. It took over a half hour to get our breakfast food (three orders of eggs and a waffle). They only good part about the meal is the manager took several items off the bill.

I ordered a chicken sandwich and the nacho plate.
The nachos came lukewarm with minimal shredded cheese melted onto them, and Serrano peppers chopped onto it instead of Jalapeño? Strange. Bad. Distribution was very poor and favored one side of the plate. The lack of cheese is most disappointing. That’s what Wisconsin is known for, right? So why not only barely any cheese, but also one that is not high fat and silken when melted? You guys have to rep the best parts of your state better. This is not a nacho plate one pays $ 13.00 for. This is the kind of dish you’d expect from a pissed off stepmom that only tolerates you because your father has money.
The Chicken sandwich came with nothing on it. I can’t believe I ordered an $ 8.00 chicken breast on a bun. The bun was very nice, in fact the nicest I’ve seen so far in the whole state… Too bad they didn’t even have the courtesy to give me a single mayonnaise or mustard packet. Chicken was burnt, and was not tenderized. It was just a chunk of chicken on a bun.
For eight dollars.
This place is overpriced and underwhelming. Don’t bother.

Will never again frequent this establishment they defended a woman who repeatedly harassed us physically and verbally. Then she hit and shoved many in our party while she was flipping the bird and shouting crazy stuff at us. She was completely defended by bartender «Chris» who should be fired for not calling the police or security. When we asked them to pull the camera footage of what happened they said there wasn’t any footage for that area (conveniently)

Most disgusting bloody I’ve ever had, mediocre food, the service was not that great either. Will not be going back.

Great patio, great service! I couldn’t have asked for a better time or service! Will stay here every time I’m in Oshkosh! Kendra and Lauren were phenomenal! Can’t wait to see them again!

Don’t order your food online from Oshkosh Ground Round. We ordered a bunch of food at 6:30 tonight. At 8pm I called there to find out if we were going to get our food. They never checked the email and never got our order. Horrible!!! They asked me if I wanted the food anyways… Really why would I want to wait any longer when the food was supposed to be at our house at 7:11pm according to email. We were not going to wait another 30 – 45 minutes to get our meals meaning we would have received our meal over two hours late. Get your crap together people or don’t offer delivery.

Finally stopped in to check this place out, and it is surprising that I had not been by sooner considering that it is so close to my apartment. I think the fact that it is located inside the Best Western/​Convention Center is what kept me away. It is always packed with people for weddings, seminar’s, EAA, etc and huge crowds is not really my scene.
Also bear in mind that I paid a visit in January, so I could not take advantage of the quaint ambiance of sitting outside overlooking the Fox River, which is quite obviously a big selling point for this establishment.
The menu could aptly be described as pub style. Lots of fried everything and huge portions, as is typical for Wisconsin eateries. The food was tasty, but it was fairly pricey for what it is. The increased prices no doubt reflects the expensive real estate the restaurant sits on as well as it’s typical and transient clientele.
To us locals, there is far better food to be had for far less expensive of a tab elsewhere. However, weather permitting, it might be worth a stop in again if I have people in town to visit or if I am on a date.

For the most part, it’s all right. Portions are large, menu is casual American (sandwiches and salads), seating is comfortable. The mushroom swiss burger was cooked at the temperature I requested.
I was, however, very disappointed in the pasta that was served to two of our guests. For $ 11, it was a plate of gooey spaghetti, 4 – 5 tiny (tiny!) meatballs, and a very modest amount of sauce. In just a few bites, you’d find yourself with nothing but unsauced noodles. I felt embarassed since I had to see guests served such a disappointing entrée.
For service, they did a great job getting entrees out to a large party, including 1 person who came in late.
Stick to the sandwiches&salads.

Well if nothing else it has a great view of the river.

Upon entering the establishment we were warmly greeted by the bartender who immediately got our drink order and drinks on the table rapidly. We sat at a table near the bar and after such a warm welcome we were looking forward to the rest of the experience.
Service
Unfortunately this is where the good stops and the need for improvement begins. I should mention also that my experience was at lunch so it may be different in the evening, of which I am unfamiliar with. The bartender was not our server and it took a while for our server to come over to our table to take our order in the neighborhood of about 5 – 7 minutes after arriving. Our server would disappear for extended periods of time when needed the most. Lunch was served but we didn’t have any silverware/​napkin setup, which was another quick stop. Fortunately for this one we had someone else walk by which I was able to request it from. The last issue was running out of something to drink and when dessert arrived, wasn’t paying attention and was not offered a refill.
Food
The turkey pretzel burger was good but the fries that I had for a side tasted of fish. The other sandwich was a flatbread triangle sandwich (can’t remember the name) which also was good but kinda small. We went ahead and ordered the trio sampler dessert which was pretty good I thought, especially the fried Oreos which were unexpectedly excellent with the ice cream.
Wait Time
After ordering we waited for an extended amount of time before our lunch (hot sandwiches) to arrive. The wait time between was also extended from lunch to dessert.
All in all the food seems pretty decent but the service and wait time = will not revisit for at least a good amount of pause. Given the amount of time for waiting, I can’t really recommend stopping during your lunch hour as you may be late getting back to work. Every place can improve, some experiences are not the norm, but my experience currently needs some memory loss before another stop will be made.

I’ve always been a fan of Ground Round. Their Friday fish fry is a really good deal. They have great drinks. Check it out!

Food was great, drinks were great, and service was decent. Whats even better was that the pricing wasn’t terrible.

First time eating here the other night. It was a lovely weather to enjoy the patio! When seating ourselves, the table we picked had gum on the lake side of the table, asked the waitress for a napkin to pick it up and she went around to the other side and got it for me. I did think that the staff was very friendly but cold have paid a little more attention to the trash on the patio grounds. When our drinks came out, the wine came out in a plastic cup, kind of a turn off but I would have understood more if the waitress would have explained that they can’t have glass on the patio. (still not sure the reasoning for this). We ordered salads as a side with our sandwiches. The salads came out with a vey nice presentation, then the meal came out before we where even close to being done with the salads. I would recommend a some more wait time in between the dishes. The sandwiches where very good! The BBQ sauce was very good with a little kick! We got the bill and signed up for the loyalty card, not really knowing what it’s going to get us but I am sure it’s going to pay off! We will be back for sure with family and friends!

Food was good, service was not.
I don’t know how I feel about this place. It’s the restaurant of the newly renovated Oshkosh Convention Center. They put a lot of money into the place, which has a really nice patio overlooking the river, so the place has become very popular and gets busy after work every night.
But its a national chain… and you wish a local restaurant had this space… I I try to support local places for a variety of reasons… and the bar only had two microbrew beers available.
My food was good I had the grande burrito, and it was tasty, Nothing exciting tho. The service was really, really poor. Our waitress sucked.

I’ve eaten there twice and was very pleased both times. Good selection of food, reasonably price, with excellent seating in a dining room, bar, or on an outside patio overlooking the river
