Went with the family to the museum to the Deck the Halls Christmas exhibit and it was awesome! This is not the biggest museum by any means but it is 2 floors of awesome! The staff is very nice and welcoming when you come into the entrance. The exhibit itself was very cool but it was still fun to go through the entire museum. I found the medical tools that were used during the war outlined on the fake arm to be especially awesome as you learn the real sacrifice that were made by those that served without the technological advances that have been made recently. The clock of course is a must see at the top of the hour as it is amazing that the show continues despite it’s age. A highly recommended must see!

Much bigger than I was expecting for such a small town. The architecture and the fixtures in the building are the real attraction. The exhibits are nice too, but mostly standard for other Wisconsin museums(mammoths, arrowheads, river/lake life). It is nice to visit for a weekend when you do not have much going on.

Loved this place. Saw it across the street when I intended to visit the Paine Gardens. I was in Oshkosh for the airshow and wanted to soak up a bit of local culture. All I can say is skip the Paine and come here instead. The Paine was a huge disappointment while the OPM was like a wonderful secret find. And $ 2 cheaper than Paine! The OPM is full of great exhibits on the history of the area running the gamut from ancient natural history to native cultures and onto«western» settlement. Lots of stuff about the local industries. There is also a revolving exhibit… when I was there it was about mosquitos and other blood-sucking creatures. Fun! And be sure to check out the«Jesus» grandfather clock which does its nutty thing every hour on the hour. Even this atheist loved it.

This is a great museum for this college town. exhibits change regularly and there is something for the entire family.

A great mid-size museum. Rotating displays I’ve seen include one about the parallels between Lincoln and the tsar at the time(impressive) and another about steampunk(not my thing, but pretty fun.) Permanent displays go into local history, prehistory, and natural history. The displays are fresh and informative, and the staff is helpful. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I came here, the museum was hosting MuggleFest, which basically was a whole Harry Potter exhibit dedicated to the ending of all the Harry Potter movies. My boyfriend surprised me by bringing me here because he knows how much I love Harry Potter. He hasn’t read the books or movies, so he must really love me, right? The exhibit was really cool! There were a bunch of different theme rooms, replicas of different props from the movies, and fun crafts in each room. All the workers were dressed up as witches, wizards, and distinct characters from the series, which was a lot of fun. We also ventured around to look to see what else the museum had to offer, which was fun and interesting. There is a big olé gun collection upstairs… yikes! Also, the gift shop was really epic. So many Harry Potter goodies! Who cares if they were overpriced? The $ 7 ticket price to get in was definitely worth it for the Harry Potter exhibit, but I’m not entirely convinced I would pay that much for the usual Oshkosh Public Museum. If you live in the area, I’m sure this is the type of place you should visit at least once, but I would not recommend you going here regularly unless there are a bunch of different rotating exhibits.

An interesting little museum. Don’t know if it really is worth the $ 7 entry fee though.
