Tamara’s the Cake Guru

I give them props for having really cool-​looking cakes and cupcakes. The staff was always friendly each time I came. I’ve sampled about 10 different flavors of cupcakes because I keep hoping that the flavor would match the appearance but they never do. I haven’t tried their cake, however. I’d be open to it but I’m fine with Manderfield’s cake for now.

The first time I had cake from Tamara was for a friends wedding and I knew I had to have her do my wedding. My wedding cake was gorgeous and people raved about the cheesecake/​cake mix, carrot cake, boston cream layers in my cake. Just this weekend we had some cupcakes from her at «The Paine». Those reminded me to write a review. If you are looking for a wedding cake or just some special cupcakes stop in because they really make the best!

I take birthday cakes very seriously, just love them and ordered one from Tamara for last Saturday. It was fabulous, and so beautifully decorated. Wish I had a birthday next month.

Cupcakes are to die for! Friendly and helpful staff. Ask them what’s in each cupcake and they will rattle off every ingredient from the filling to the frosting, with no pause. The cupcakes also are presented beautifully. They would make a great gift for someone with a sweet tooth. This is a review for the Appleton location but it didn’t come up on Unilocal.I imagine Oshkosh is just as divine.

With a name like a Cake Guru, you have to fulfill a whole lotta expectation. I remember some myth in Asia about baby that gets sick all the time because their name was too «heavy» for him/​her. I felt this name was too heavy for this bakery.
It got my attention though and as soon as I saw it, I thought I had to try it. I was just passing through town on business. I had lunch at New York Deli and saw this bakery. I actually went back here to get some cupcakes as I was dying to get some sweets in me. It was one of those days that you want to eat away your stress with delicious cake.
I waited there awhile as there were a couple customers in front of me who couldn’t decide what to buy. I didn’t blame them as there were a lot of choices. The cupcakes looked big and yummy. I wouldn’t say this bakery focuses on the intricate details of decoration. Their stuff had more the homemade look to it.
I bought two red velvet cupcakes and a chocolate chip cookies. I just wanted one cup cake and a cookie but I had to meet $ 5 min charge on a credit card. For $ 2.75, I think you get a lot of value as the cupcake is gigantic for that price.
I started attacking the cupcake in the car. I couldn’t wait! Lol! Their packaging was very nice I must say. I love the cardboard box instead of plastic clamshell. There was too much frosting. Wait, did I just say that? Yeh, too much as this cream cheese frosting tasted overly sweet. If it tasted more cream cheesy I would have asked for more. The cake part was fine but then there was chocolate filling in the center of the cupcake. That kinda ruined it for me. I didn’t think chocolate filling belong in a red velvet. I also was not too crazy on the sugar sprinkles on top. Surprised it didn’t melt on the cream cheese, but then again, that’s a proof that the frosting is more closer to buttercream than regular cream cheese icing.
The cookie was also not what I expected. It wasn’t chewy gooey. Just sweet.
It was just okay in my humble opinion. Maybe their other cupcakes and cookies are better than the one I sampled. Maybe I will try again next time because I would so want to support this small bakery. We can’t have enough bakeries around!

Wow! Went there for the first time yesterday and it was the most amazing cupcake I’ve ever had! So glad they opened another location on Casaloma!

The Cake Guru has some great baked goods. Stopping by here you will encounter a large selection of cupcakes along with some other cookies/​etc if cupcakes aren’t your thing. The cupcakes are pretty good, very moist and good flavor as well. The service is also great!

Got to experience these amazing cupcakes at the Fox River mall in Appleton. They have all kinds of amazing delicious flavors.
I have q weakness for peanut butter and they definitely filled that craving.
Not sure how long they are going to have a cart at the mall (probably just for holidays)

Stopped at their Fox River Mall kiosk, I can’t the girl working seemed to thrilled to pulled away from her Candy Crush game. I have called their bakery a few times wanting to gather some information and I am told to email them because they very busy and will get back to me via email.
Well if your to busy for a phone call then I would assume business is booming and wouldn’t be able to take my order.

Stopped here with my friend after lunch for a treat, we were surprised by the huge selection of cupcakes they had. We ended up getting a couple for ourselves and some for my parents. We ended up sharing a «purple velvet» cupcake, it had a cream cheese frosting and chocolate ganache filling– it was incredibly moist. They were delicious and overall a great price.

Bought some for work, bought some for girls’s night, bought some to celebrate my kids good grades, bought some for my gluten free sister, the list shall continue. Confectionary delight, these cupcakes have to be eaten with a fork. They are each an adventure in tastes and delightful fillings. My sister is a foodie, and she loved her gluten free cheesecake and her gluten free cupcakes! I delight in surprising people with these amazing bundles of joy. At only $ 2.50 it is a great way to say «I love you» or «I am proud of you» or «Thank you!» They are unique and something different!

I am a VERY big sweet tooth so I tried these for a party because they looked amazing… however they weren’t very moist and the French Silk cupcakes don’t taste anything like French Silk. It tasted like a chocolate hostess cupcake with chocolate frosting inside. We weren’t impressed. Cute place and they look great but the Peanut Butter ones were the only ones we could finish… but they were just ok. Sorry Tamara’s we tried!

Tamara’s baking acumen is spectacular! I can’t give my full review just yet as I haven’t seen the final product… still a few weeks away.
What I can tell you is that from her initial consultation to the design process and finally the tastings you’ll be glad you chose her. She really is a guru when it comes to her cake flavors, fillings, frostings, creams, etc. Tamara is beyond an artist and culinary master. She’s kind, easy going and always full of inspiration.
We drove from Milwaukee of which is where our wedding will be and the choice was made from the moment we saw her designs and first met Tamara. You may encounter a bit of a wait if you go on a weekend even with an appointment as the locals flock to her bake shop for a taste of the days incredible cupcake flavorings.
