Oh boy will THIS one be tough to write… My folks retired up to the Land Of Cheese before Culvers expanded down here to the flatland. Any visit up there was sure to include at least one stop at the hallowed store on 41 just south of the Butte Des Mortes Bridge. The juicy burgers with the crunchy halo, dripping with fromagean goodness, the perfect application of condiments. crisp fries that tastes like taters and not grease. Swell root beer, and then a dish of Frozen Heaven for dessert. Nothin’ like it, nowhere. Yeah, sure I’d go to Cali and have an In-N-Out(double/double/animal) and it was fab! I went to Culvers and asked them to plop a little Thousand Island on my burger, and damned if I didn’t see crossed palm trees in the Wisconsin Moonlight. Advantage Culvers. No biggie. Took fast care of THAT icon. Steak and Shake? Sui Generis. Pavarotti and Placido, Mustang and Camaro, Les Paul and Strat. You really can’t compare a ButterBurger with a Steak and Shake Double… Yes, I fell hard for the Wisconsin Monoliths, and it was a glorious day when they started opening stores in the Windy City Area. When I moved the tribe out to the collar counties, I was very pleased to learn a Culvers store was going in at the big intersection near Stately Breakwind Manor. It became a regular haunt. Wife-unit had a bit of Customer-relations tsuris with some of the previous management(smart-ass kids on duty, and the guilty party was the owners son, who unwisely took his sons side-although he was clearly wrong) but that meant no dine-in. I’d still drive through and zoom back to the Scullery at S.B.M., where we would stuff our faces with all I bought. Scheduling recently, has meant fewer visits to this store in particular(but not Culvers in General). I had been laid up with Bronchitis for a week, not eating much, and when Wife-Unit suggested the Culvertorium, I lit up and agreed! She was even going to drop the boycott and get the order herself. My order was a Double with Everything and a Wild Rice soup. Ever get the soups at Culvers? Always always always fine! Soup had been on the menu for every day I was ill that week. This would be great! And the Wild Rice Soup was exactly that. Creamy with all kinds of stuff floating in it. Tasty. The Burger came out of the box rising tall and Majestic. The blissful first taste… Uh-Oh. The cognitive dissonance one has when getting a flavor misdirect on a long-time favorite dish/culinary item can be profound. Remember your first sip of «New Coke»? Remember tasting KFC gravy now and think longingly of the ambrosial masterpice what used to be. I wrote an entire review of this effect at a restuarant(Q.v. Maggianos). The Burger was a dried-out husk/excuse for a Butterburger. NO juice, no Beefy Goodness. Where were the artisan-like schmears of Mayo? And kids, it’s called Salt and Pepper. Basic food prep. You MUST do that at home, eh? SEASONTHESHIT! ‘cos these pucks weren’t. Here’s the worst part. The quality of the Culvers ingredients hung through the horrible prep well enough to taste marginally ok, but it was nowhere in the vicinity of «right». I didn’t call the kitchen, ‘cos Wifey wadn’t goin’ back out, no way! She said her burger was the same-dried out and bland, as well. I sincerely hope this was a one-shot deal, A kid manning the grill who cant wait to get cut for the night so he can go out and party. The Burgers at other Culvers have recently been perfectamundo! If this is the decline of Culvers, however, great shame upon them for futzing with what is a master product.

Good fast food! Veggie burger option is awesome! My husband loves the deserts and chicken sandwiches. My only complaint is the drive through takes a while, they never give ketchup and have to walk your food out so then they have to back inside to got condiments. Sometimes the workers lie or get upset when getting the ketchup– they need a better system.

I used to not be that big of a fan of Culver’s but now I can’t get enough of it. My fries are ALWAYS fresh and even are still hot by the time I get home, no matter what time of day, busy or not. Definitely got to get a double for the burger, a single just doesn’t do it, lol. Love this location!!!

rude drive-in cashiers. the girl got my order(flavor) wrong, and when the other cashier returned with my correct product, the girl mouthed behind the close window, «I asked her twice!!»(and even if she did, she still got my order incorrect). when the other cashier handed me my correct item, I told him ‘she didn’t ask me twice’. he looked at me, smiled and closed the window while rolling eyes. will not be returning to this location if this is the type of customer service provided

Love this Culvers. Worked there when I was younger. Loved the staff, love the food, love the owner and his family. This place is always packed with friendly faces. The service is quick and it is always clean inside and outside! I’ve never been to a better Culvers. Butter burgers and cheese curds are of course a must have when you go. I also recommend indulging with a concrete mixer or turtle sundae. Their Chili is the bomb. Comes with fresh onions, cheese, sour cream and crackers. The buffalo chicken tenders have perfect white meat and awesome breading. Don’t forget about their dinner meals like the pot roast or fresh cod… I’m sorry, i’ve just started drooling…

Great managers since the place opened. Keep the staff busy and doing their jobs. Food has been consistently good every time, drive thru and sit down. Favorites — love the fried chicken and the mushroom swiss burger.

There should be nothing but excellent reviews for this location. The managers on duty always have a smile on and jump right in to help out when things get busy or backed up. The food is delicious and the custard is even better. Oreo, cookie dough, and strawberry concrete mixer? Oh yes!

Above average tasty burgers. Friendly service. We live in an area that does not have a Culvers so visiting is a special treat.

Culverts has very good food and always served hit. If you expect to get through drive thru quick your out of luck. They give you number and pull you up. I usually wait about 3 – 5 for drive thru. It is worth the wait.

I can not comment on the food served at this place, but I can comment on the dessert. The ice cream and sundae’s that are served at this location are excellent. The turtle sundae is served with just the right amount of pecans and carmel and is enough the have alone or share with someone else. The staff is friendly and the facility is clean. I would recommend coming here for a delicious ice cream treat.

I hate coming here. I remember Culvers when I visited Wisconsin as being just insanely delicious. When I moved to Oswego we tried this Culvers out a few times and for whatever reason it’s not the same. Maybe it’s all in my head and vacation food tastes better? But anyways this place is always a hot mess, takes longer here than Portillo’s and that is longgg. my mom and I ordered 2 two piece meals, a chicken sammich and 3 custards. Obviously for three people, TOGO. Dude brought us the food to our table for here. How are we gonna eat all that?! Took twenty minutes for some chicken… for real Culvers? Get it together.

Was there last night for a quick supper. I can now also heartily recommend the Culver’s Reuben basket. Tender corned beef stacked high! Oh soooo good!
