I went to Iowa in search of a good pork tenderloin sandwich. Decided to try Julia’s based on another review. This is kind of a small cozy place. Wife, duaghter, and I went in for lunch. Right away Julia greeted us and showed us a table. Soon we had a nice banter going with Jim. Jim was doing the cooking and also was very nice. I enjoyed the friednly atmosphere. Really nice as opposed to what you get at times in the city. Everyone had tenderloins and really enjoyed them. Most of the food is fresh and home cooked. The pork tenderloin was hand cut by Jim. Now that is a tenderloin. Not some pork fritter from Sysco that was ground and frozen in Brazil 6 months ago. Iowa pork, hand pounded, and breaded. That is how it is supposed to be. I wish we had tried some other items. They had pineapple pie which I didnt try but it looked fantastic. Maybe next time. Stop by see Julia, and Jim. They will treat you right and you will have 2 new friends. Tell them the tenderloin guy from Chicago suggested them. Enjoy

I liked this hole in the wall lol, Julia was very nice and friendly. Tenderloin was delicious and the hotdog with fries was d’ lish. It cracks me up you get a can of pop here and for a refill, they just crack open another can!

Julia’s is good for lunch… good service, fun memorabilia on the wall from other Ottumwa restaurants, hotels, businesses that have gone by the wayside. The food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great– the fries are homemade and they cut them after you order them– no frozen fries thrown in the fryer here! It’s a nice, quiet atmosphere and I’d go there again with out of town visitors!
