I’m not a normal« Unilocaler», I despise it as a business owner as I think it gives some an unfair platform for complaint. However, this new little café in downtown Ouray is really trying hard and the business owner needs to be aware of a defect. We were here two days in a row, yesterday we obviously had the owner helping us as you could truly feel she cared about her patrons, the environment and the food quality. We had vouchers for free breakfast but were a little after cut off time and gladly paid $ 35 for our meals & coffee. This morning we returned, with our hotel vouchers and anticipated the same service. We were greeted(herein lies the issue) with someone who was right off the bat rude. It was obvious the patron in front of us had a «voucher» also. She snapped that she«wasn’t done with him yet» as I was simply standing in line. When it was my turn, and I offered to pay for an additional food item, and presented my vouchers for both days she obviously did not understand them. I also paid for drinks, and she told me I didn’t have enough«vouchers». I was given one per day for all guests. That breakdown is between the hotel and the café, not my fault. After taking my order she stomped off into the kitchen and loudly complained to the staff how she«hated these vouchers» and continued to complain. I get it. I am a business owner and understand the value and harm in a Unilocal. However, as a business owner, I complain about it outside of the earshot of my valued patrons. Take a lesson from this and replace the counter help with someone who wakes up in a better mood on a Monday(especially for a service business), and reevaluate the voucher program. Food was great, coffee was excellent!

Rude, rude, rude! I only live a couple hours from Ouray, so I find myself dining in town quite a bit. Yesterday, I met up with a few friends at Roast and Toast for breakfast and all three of us were treated pretty rudely by the staff. For years, the coffee was brought to the table at this establishment, so we assumed nothing had changed. But after 20 minutes with no beverages, I went up and asked for our drinks. I was rudely told by a very frazzled barista(possibly the owner?) that she just doesn’t have time to bring us our drinks and they have been on the counter for ten minutes. Had I known, we totally would have gotten our own drinks. How would we have known the rules had changed? But, the major attitude came when after 25 minutes of waiting, we received no food. My friend went to the counter to check on our order and she was(very sternly) told to «Just go sit down, it’ll come out when it’s ready.» Wow! 10 more minutes went by, no eggs arrived. The restaurant had maybe 8 customers, hardly a busy morning. As someone who worked in the service industry back in the day, I get it. Restaurant work can be stressful. But there is no reason to treat people like idiots when they are being polite to you. Drop the attitude lady or just find a line of work!

Not only is the food good, but the service was amazing. The lady at the front counter was so nice that I wanted to go back. Just a pleasant experience. I had the hungry hippy and it was made on gluten free bread. I am a celiac and I felt fine after eating here both times. My husband eats a regular diet and loved his burrito. I think this place rocks. Best overall in Ouray. Too bad they don’t stay open later

This business seems to get by on the fact that they know customers will always be coming in. However, their staff was rude and unhelpful, the food which is expensive(which I understand to some extent due to isolation but still) is ill prepared as our food came out legitimately cold. On top of that the portions were small and ingredients all together unimpressive making this restaurant all in all just not good. The coffee was the only thing that was on point. I recommend any patrons considering this tourist trap underperforming café to steer clear.

Had the hungry hiker breakfast. Was typical breakfast café food, nothing special. Eggs and potatoes a little oily, bacon underdone. Tea was excellent. Boyfriend had omelette special, thought it OK, and thought coffee delicious.

For the money I was expecting a larger sandwich but I wasn’t expecting it to be that good either. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. If there is a complaint it has to be the coffee. Thin thin thin.

Slow service, no bagels, and incredibly poor take out packaging earn this place a single star. The other bakery on Main St is WAY better!

Customer service is outstanding! Imogene burrito was packed with eggs, bell peppers, spinach, onion, and cheese served with a side potatoes, great combo. My Americano went great with my breakfast! Roast and toast is a quaint place and hit the spot for breakfast!

We always stop here for coffee when we are in Ouray. Especially this Fall, with Hwy 550 closed most of the day for construction, an early drive through Ouray to beat the roadblock is key. Equally key is getting coffee to fortify ones’ self for the crack of dawn drive. The coffee is good, the baked goods are fresh and delicious, and there is almost always a place to sit. I’d encourage anyone driving through Ouray to check this place out.

Very friendly staff! Great combinations for breakfast with several healthy options. We tried the Imogene burrito and egg, sausage, cheese sandwich. A tasty variety of vegetables in the burrito which paired excellently with salsa. The sandwich had the cheese cooked in the egg and alternate options for bacon or ham on whole wheat bread. The potatoes that came with both dishes were room temperature and a little burnt, but the spice combination tasted good. We had free coffee from the deal with staying at Box Canyon Lodge, great coffee!

First, I was going to include a picture of one of the sticky buns… but I ate it too quickly! I have only had breakfast here, so that’s all I can talk to. The morning baked goods are second to none… absolutely amazing! I am a bit surprised the Visitors Bureau hasn’t yet placed a picture of these cinnamon rolls or sticky buns on their cover… but they probably had the same problem keeping them on the plate long enough!

I was scoping out a spot for a salad and glass of wine. After a futile try, I opted to have lunch here and in lieu of the wine, try their cold brewed coffee. I wasn’t super hungry and opted for a sandwich off their kids menu to which I added adult options(avacado and lettuce on local brioche). The sandwich was definitely made with love– turkey and cheese) — really tasty. Although I tried to look away from the dessert selection(staring at you where you place your order, taunting and beckoning you to experience them…). I complied and elected to try the chocolate cupcake(I’m weak around them-with chocolate buttercream or buttermilk? frosting). At first I thought, as my knife cut into a sliver-just a sampling to enjoy later) — I anticipated it might be dry, but I was mistaken. The cake was moist and the frosting delicious. I ended up sampling 2/3rds of the cupcake and brought the remaining third to my lodging. When the cupcake came to room temperature, the flavor really went to another level. I also heard some other couple returning for more brownie cake, having eaten the whole thing on their walk. They too had dreams of it making it to their room for later. Their plan was thwarted. Good stuff!

Great food! My parents and my family loved their food! Bit pricey and bit small in quantity(kids 13&11 were still hungry after) but taste and service was great!

Only great things to be said about this place! The sticky buns were incredible! They tasted like warm, caramel pecan pie. The breakfast plates were made with fresh ingredients, and WOW those potatoes, I could write an entire review on those alone. Definitely worth the stop!

This is a must stop anytime we come through Ouray. The staff is incredibly friendly. Billie remembered me months later after I had only been in once and welcomed me back the moment I walked in the door. The coffee is great with free refills. The breakfast and lunch options are made with fresh ingredients, taste delicious and are good sized portions. They also offer gluten free bread for all of their sandwich and breakfast options. The place has a lot of seating options and is kept incredibly clean. You can tell that they really care about putting excellence into all they do.

Excellent food, friendly service, immaculately clean. We had the Richie and Alpine sandwiches, green chili with pork soup, all delicious and unique, not too spicy, but very tasty. Sofas and leather chairs in back area to relax. I loved it and will definitely return.

One of the best lunchtime sandwiches in Ouray, if not the best! I had the Yankee Boy Club & my husband had the Big Richie – both were excellent. Fresh bread, fresh ingredients, and just all around yummy. We also shared a gluten-free almond pastry that was divine! The restaurant was clean and the staff was incredibly friendly. This is a new favorite in Ouray!

A quaint little breakfast nook in the heart of historic downtown. You should give it a try! The breakfast burritos are very tasty and a lot of flavor in their mild Green Chile. Get it smothered. The food is fresh and the IMOGENE is great for any veggie eaters out there. Full of Spinach, Peppers, Onions and black beans. You definitely don’t leave hungry and you can just hang out in the back room to great music, casual surrounding and a great relaxing atmosphere.

So glad we stopped in this wonderful shop for lunch. Delicious sandwiches and salads. Bread and salad dressing taste homemade. Nice relaxing dining area and good wifi. My son had Switchback, and I had The Cascade with side salad-we both loved them!
