I have been staring this storefront in the face for months, and this was my first time entering. I’m proud of myself for going so long… it’s a devilish temptation. It seems to run on a minimum staff, but in the middle of the afternoon in fall… of course it does! The staff member on duty was swift and kind. I tried the Caramel Macchiato shake. I could drink the shake from a straw without problem. I guess in my mind I was hoping for a «blizzard» consistency. If I had wanted ice cream, I should have ordered it =) Flavors were great. Neither Ben, nor Jerry, have ever left me feeling un-comforted. I was glad to see a discounted purchase program for pints, but the selection of pints was quite limited. Perhaps it was my day and time of visit, but I would love to see more options. As the B&J local store I would prefer to buy them directly from the source… however, if the grocery store has a better selection, where do you think I will end up? Precisely. They have a cute room seperate from the majority of the store for small get together’s or parties. Also there are a limited number of booths in which you are able to enjoy your ice cream on the premises. I’m glad to have this company in the area… and I will go back hoping for a slightly less underwhelming experience.

New York chocolate fudge chunk and Fish Food are fabulous. Rich, creamy, chocolatey, decadent, and down right De-Lish! Add that to a freshly made waffle cone and I’m as fat as a tick and happy as a hog! Either way… I need to get on my bike and ride 20 miles to relieve myself of this well earned guilt. But, don’t get me wrong… I did it of my own free will and I will do it again, if given half a chance!

Ben and Jerry’s even store bought is the best ice cream for multiple reasons– 1) they don’t whip air in to their ice cream so it is very dense, a pint of it feels to weight about as much as a gallon of bluebell 2) the quality is outstanding, they use only kosher ice cream and also have their baked goods in the ice cream come from a factory that employs underprivileged people in the US and 3) I don’t care what flavor is your favorite because THEYAREALLSOOOOGOODDDD!!! But The Ben and Jerry’s store is a whole new experience. They recently updated from what I remember going to when I was younger, and they still offer unlimited samples so you KNOW you’re getting a flavor(or 2 or 3, they let you combine!) that you’ll savor to the last cup-scraping bite! Also, they make the waffle cones fresh, so the store smells like Heaven at all times, and they also make their cookies and brownies in store, so if you go in there thinking you’re not hungry, you’re still probably going to leave with an ice cream cone. They’ll hand pack a pint of any flavor you want, and while it’s a tad more expensive than store bought pints, the freshness justifies the cost. They also offer shakes, smoothies, frozen yogurts and hand made ice cream cakes. Delicious place, friendly service, options galore? Prepare to take your Ben and Jerry’s lovin’ to a whole other level of awesome…

Nice staff, backroom for special event parties I’ve always loved to get the Brownie sundae or banana fudge royal sundaes. Tons of flavors you can’t miss

As we finished up our double-scoop cones, my husband pointed out Queen’s «We Are the Champions» was playing overhead, appropriately. It couldn’t be more fitting — it was an epic ice cream experience. I laughed at this irony the whole way out to the car. I had never had Ben & Jerry’s ice cream before. We didn’t have a Ben & Jerry’s shop in my hometown, and I’d always passed it by in the grocery store. I could get a bigger carton of good quality ice cream(Blue Bunny, Breyer’s, etc.) for less money, and I figured B&J’s had to be grossly overrated. Oh man. Sorry, Ben… Sorry, Jerry. You have some seriously good ice cream, and I’m sad for all the times I’ve driven by here and wrote it off as just a fancypants Johnson County thing. Their cones are epic, both in size and quality. We had a Groupon and needed to spend $ 10. We each got a «small» waffle cone with two scoops, and they seemed monstrous. We’d already eaten dinner — seriously should have ordered a kid’s size. I asked for a chocolate dipped cone, which just added more ridiculousness, but it was worth piling on the absurdity. Every last bite was delicious. The hubs got scoops of the Stephen Colbert flavor and cookie dough. My favorite ice cream flavor was the Cookies and Sweet Cream; I ordered a coconut flavor too(coconut macaroon maybe?), but I didn’t like it quite as much. By the time I even got to the second scoop, I had to cut my losses because I was stuffed and I could feel the pounds coming on. The shop itself is small, bright, and colorful. There are so many friggin ice cream options, in the forms of cups, cones, sundaes, and shakes; they even have smoothies and to-go pints of ice cream. The ice cream is seriously delicious, and you can taste that they use excellent ingredients. The workers were friendly and on top of things, and despite all the ice cream and potential sticky fingers that could have passed through the store all day, the shop was sparkling clean at 7:30 when we came for dessert. «Noooooo time for looo-sers … We are the champ-ions!» Hurrah for fantastic ice cream!

Why did nobody tell me about this place before. This is cheaper than buying their ice cream at the store and they have better options. You can pick 3 flavors for each pints which is awesome. The staff is polite and willing to give you samples. I’ll be back next week.

I’ve driven by here a million times but never stopped in. I finally had to do it. It was really crowded when we went and it made the store seem even smaller. I had thought it would be busy because it’s been so hot out so I expected that already. We tried their sorbets since you can’t buy those in the store. The mango was very mango-y. The pomegranate wasn’t bad. The lemonade was good and the berry was great. Overall it was good but I think I’d rather just buy a pint for the same price at the grocery store. Or I would rather just go to Glacé!

I was stuck in the neighborhood for an hour, so I took my nephew here. When I’m in Lawrence my friends and I normally hit their B&J. Anyway, it took us a few minutes to decide what to eat, he had a large waffle cone with 2 scoops vanilla topped with gummy bears. I had a large chocolate dipped cone with 1 scoop of froyo and 1 of peanut butter ice cream. Everything tasted great. We probably would’ve been satisfied with the smaller sized cones if we hadn’t just spent 4 hours at Schlitterbahn. The bill was a little less than $ 12 for both of us, which is about the same as Peachwave or BR, especially since we pigged out. I don’t buy B&J ice cream at home very often, only froyo because the last thing I want is tons of ice-cream sitting around the house, but I know it’s about $ 5 a container because my bf buys it and eats it all in 2 sittings. I don’t know where the people who are complaining get it for less than that price are shopping because my bf buys it frequently at that price. Anyway, I look forward to buying one of their $ 10 father’s day cookie cakes and birthday cakes!!!

The kid was in the mood for a cold treat after dinner tonight. He’d been here before with his dad, but tonight was my first visit. I was surprised at their extensive menu. Smoothies, cold coffee drinks, shakes. A freezer of ice cream cakes. Even a display case with shirts and mugs, I think. The teen behind the counter offered to let us sample flavors and proactively explained sizes, saying a «kid size» was one scoop, while a «small» was two. She was patient as we looked over their flavors. No need to sample, my son opted for one scoop each of Chocolate and«Coffee Coffee BuzzBuzzBuzz»(coffee ice cream with espresso bean fudge chunks). I had baby spoonfuls of each, and both were wonderful. As we walked out, I noticed they also sold the pint-sized grocery store version, but they were $ 5 for a pint, or $ 9 for two pints, and so on and so forth. Can’t you get a pint for $ 4 at Price Chopper? Anyway, for folks like me, who don’t stock up on pints, this is the perfect place to swing by for a single-serve treat. We’ll be back!

I walked into Ben and Jerry’s expecting just another Dairy Queen/Baskin’ Robbins type shop. What I found was the first caffeinated drink that actually makes me hyper instead of sleepy!(Yes, I drink so much caffeine that it makes me crash immediately) The young boy behind the counter was eager and enthusiastic about handing me sample after free sample of ice cream. He even suggested his favorite flavor(Milk and Cookies) which I agreed was tasty. After thoroughly studying the gigantic menu, I noticed the Pour Over: Vanilla ice cream, skim milk, ice, and their cold brewed coffee poured over the top. I convinced the young ice cream children to substitute their vanilla ice cream for Coffee ice cream. I watched them make the concoction. The boy poured the cold brew into a small cup and then poured about half that cup onto my drink. «Oh no!» I exclaimed, «Keep pouring!» He looked at me like I was insane at first but then held up the finished drink for me like a piece of art work; he was so proud. Of course the drink was crazy amounts of strong(coffee ice cream and tons of cold brew) but absolutely phenomenal. «Good luck sleeping tonight!» the proud, young ice cream artist proclaimed as I walked out the door. …and now I can’t sit still. My legs are shaking and I feel like running a marathon. I have finally found a drink that makes me hyper like caffeine should do!

It’s Ben & Jerry’s…any star less would be a FATLIE! But that’s not to say that the scoop shop in Kansas City is worth the ice cream itself… because it is not. You’re better off going straight to your local grocer’s freezer for a taste of god’s greatest gift to women: Half Baked(my personal favorite, chocolate and vanilla twisted with brownie chunks and cookie dough bites), Cherry Garcia, Chubby Hubby, Chunky Monkey, Phish Food, Coffee Health Bar Crunch. But the same crafting genius who invented these deadly flavors must have also thought up scoop shops: where they sell scoops for the same price or more as a pint from the store!!! This is ice cream blasphemy, to take advantage of their name and flavors, so wholly respected by the unsuspecting cravers wandering in and getting stuck with skimpy portions and indulgent prices. When I visited, I had a skinny teenage boy scoop my half baked(who I can guarantee you didn’t understand how important a good portion of ice cream is to a woman — to him it’s like, what’s the big deal?!) I had to correct the little man — told him if I were to pay five dollars for a spoonful, I’d be crazy! So I paid for two spoonfuls and went across the street to the Target, where they were selling whole pints for less than the damned cup of ice cream I had devoured in one minute and four bites… that is NOT the spirit of Ben & Jerry! I was so irked, I emailed corporate to enlighten them on this pricing and sizing discrepancy, after which they sent me a free scoop coupon. But I thought — hm… drive all the way to 135th to get another meager scoop from that skinny boy! No Thank you! Since then, I buy the pints up the street — after all, it’s the same ice cream minus the middle man with weak arms!
