Who ever is «50 Day Bar» running the rail is an absolute joke. Here’s a pro-tip… If you’re going to assign someone a bar shift, make sure that they at least know how to be an AVERAGE server. Waiting over 10 mins for a soda and two waters because the bartender is nose deep in her phone is ENTIRELY and COMPLETELY unacceptable. Having everyone else do YOUR job(i.e run food, get refills, run your check) while having TWO total tables not only lacks professionalism but is also deplorably lazy. Can I at least get a touchback to make sure the food is up to par and to see if we need refills or condiments??? Oh… And not giving us app plates for our appetizers was a nice touch too. Here’s a hint, stop acting like your«you know what» doesn’t stink, that you have the same clout as Beyoncé(pre black panther garbage) and are so far up on your make believe pedestal that the minions below in both employment and in service are below you. Or at least don’t carry the attitude that a Sunday bar shift and the patrons who help you buy more bling are below you.

Wish I could give negative stars. Had a group of about 24 just asked to leave after we checked with the hostess and the upstairs hostess to ensure we could have the outdoor deck and after we all were seated they then said it was reserved by another party and asked us to leave. The man was rude and said we didn’t ask the hostess, even though we asked both. After he rudely asked us to leave, we asked the hostess for his name and they refused to give it to us. You guys missed out on a large ticket and many tips for years to come. Marlo rx

This place is very close to where I stay when I come to Kansas City,(about once a year), so I stop in almost every time I come — for one thing — the fried pickles. They are wedges(not chips), they have a good batter, and they are crisp not soggy. I’ve tried other things and they haven’t been as good. But, the pickles will keep me coming back. There is also a decent beer selection. I’ve always had good service. My only complaint is really the music.

Sick of poor service and shitty food. Nice to have a Packer’s bar in town but the staff here are horrible. It’s a decent sized bar but honestly I don’t think its worth wasting your time.

This place is just what I like for a sports bar! Tons of TVs, a super cool rooftop, decent food, and an OK beer selection! I’m not going out to eat steak and drink a ton of craft beer when I’m watching the Huskers, GOBIGRED! But, I’m sure I could do those here if I really wanted to. I just sit at the bar here so I never have any kind of issue with service but the girls who work here are always good to me. I know there’s a big Huskers crowd here on game days which is why I’m usually here. I’ve had a few things from the menu and they aren’t bad at all. It’s exactly what you should expect from a sports bar. The buffalo fingers were my favorite so far. Burgers are OK but could use some work I suppose. I’ve drank everything from great selections from Boulevard to Heineken here. Nice I can switch it up to whatever I fee like. It has a good atmosphere for a sports bar too. The decorations and people here are all about sports. Honestly, out of the sports bars I’ve been to here in JOCO this one ain’t bad.

Looks like it would be a great place. Fun Nada. Bland food uninterested staff. Upstairs is nice idea but near impossible to get a drink at the bar if crowded. Huge design flaw. terrible tight bar area downstairs. Peoples that r waiting hover over you worse than a Johnson county helicopter mom! Not goin back.

Terrible food, terrible service. They have a bunch of young kids running the front of the house that were clearly out of their depth. Seating a party of SIX in a mostly empty restaurant had them stumped, the waitress was clearly unhappy to be working at all– she didn’t even deliver the food herself and the next time she checked on us was to offer to-go boxes. Nothing was good right from the kitchen so taking it home wasn’t even considered. The burgers were overcooked, the chicken philly is just a chicken sandwich with mushrooms, and the tortillas on the fish tacos were stale. Oh– and the games we unplugged because there was a game on the TV… in a sports bar.

This is not my first visit to Coach’s. They have a fabulous outdoor patio and bar. Instead of the tables, we sat on a comfy sofa around the fire pit. Great environment for great conversation. We ordered cocktails and the nachos which are usually really good! Last night, they were«thrown together» and only about ½ of the chips had toppings. They were still good, though. One of my other favorites are The Chief’s Wings. Wings covered in Cajun seasoning. I love them! Crispy and packed with flavor. Great place to watch a game… tons of great TVs!!!

I’d call Coach’s a «sports» bar & grill, as they have many TV screens, and all have been tuned to sports whenever I’ve been there. I’m not much of a sports fan(unless the Royals are in the World Series), but I give Coach’s credit for including women’s sports… the last time I was there they had the women’s collegiate gymnastics tournament on at least one TV. It is a pretty noisy place, what with cheering or groans from the sports fans added to normal bar & grill noise. I like that you’re greeted as soon as you come in the door. Ask to be seated in one of the rooms away from the bar area if you want a(relatively) less noisy spot. There is nothing fancy about the décor, but the booths are quite comfortable, and there is also a great rooftop deck with a fire pit, and a large room that could be booked for a group. Their friendly wait staff is very good at answering questions about the food. And the food is the real reason I’m a «fan»(4 stars) of this restaurant. Their menu is extensive and varied enough that anyone could find something they’d like. From my first visit, I’ve been hooked on their sweet potato fries. Upon seeing someone else’s order, and short of asking a complete stranger for a fry(which I was sorely tempted to do, since an order costs $ 7), I had no choice but to order my own! To lessen the sticker shock, let me add that an «order» is plenty large enough to share with several friends! I asked for«extra crispy» fries, and they arrived perfectly cooked, and dusted lightly with cinnamon and sugar(don’t knock it till you’ve tried it… seriously), but I’m sure they can be ordered without. I HIGHLY recommend the Pulled Pork Tacos. The pork is smoked, which gives them an amazing flavor. Most people love Coach’s Baja Fish Tacos, which are good, but comparatively, the pork ones are are outstanding… one of those tastes you can’t stop thinking about. Their salads look fresh and very good too, although I’ve yet to try one. My fellow diners have always liked whatever they have ordered, but just those two items(sweet potato fries and the pork tacos) are what have made me a repeat customer. BTW, this location is set back off of 135th Street, behind other buildings, and you can easily miss it if you are trying to find it ON135th. My GPS had me driving in circles to get to it. It is just west of Antioch on 135th, but you have to turn south on to Grandview(on the west side of the restaurant) to get back to it.

We were in search of a burger for me and a salad for her and wanting to try some place new to us. We remembered seeing coach’s a few times as we drove by on 135th and decided to give them a try. I ordered a mushroom and swiss burger, medium well with no tomato and my wife changed her mind from a salad and ordered the fish tacos. My burger showed up with a tomato and it was a bacon cheeseburger. Not what I ordered and since I wasn’t totally turned off by the mistake I decided to just eat it. The overall satisfaction of this burger was merely OK. The pickle spear, tomato and lettuce looked old and the onions tasted sour. My wife’s fish tacos were on the same level of just ok and extremely watery which left her plate in a pool of taco seasoned water. Their craft beer selection is non existent so no bonus stars for that. On plus side was they have a shuffle board table but they also have tables and chairs slammed right up next to it so its a little crowded to use it. The roof top patio looks cool but with below average food and crappy beer selection I doubt we will ever be back to check it out.

We’ve been once and it wasn’t bad. Typical bar food menu. Not sure if it’s my first choice when we go out, but I would eat there again. I would love to sit up on the patio. It looks awesome.

In response to Missa K… I am as gay as they come. I worked at coaches for a long time. They are anything but discriminatory. I appreciate your group moving under the circumstances of a need from a handicapped person. However, that table did not work for that particular party and they had to move them to a different table that was more accommodating. In the mean time, the table was sat again. It was not to be disrespectful. J They were just seating the then, open table. I understand the frustration. But you have to consider that maybe it was just your perception at that time. I would give it another shot. Coach’s is local and run by a great family and the management and staff is a pleasure to experience. Don’t neglect yourself because of a skewed paradigm of your experience.

My husband and I recently gave this bar and grill another try. The service was good and the food was good. We went in the afternoon and it wasn’t to noisy, we could have a carry on a conversation without raising our voices to be heard across the table, no screaming babies this time. We will most likely come back again as we do like their Santa Fe Salad.

This establishment asked my cousin, her partner, and their kids to get up and move to a table outside to accommodate a handicapped person. They happily obliged. When my cousin went in to go to the restroom she noticed a young, able-bodied couple, and a toddler at their table. She asked if the table was no longer needed for the handicapped man. The hostess stammered he was in the back. In the back where? Like the kitchen? When they left, after paying their $ 86 tab, still no handicapped man. Hey Coaches! You’re not in Indiana. Girls can date girls, and boys can date boys. And it’s utterly ridiculous that you ask a family, including children, to move out of sight in 2015. But you happily take their money, eh? Well, I’d like to say that you’ll never get mine, but you weren’t going to anyway, because if I want microwaved mozzarella sticks I’d go to the store and buy them myself. I cannot believe you displayed this level of bigotry in front of 13 and 10yr old children!

I was here early March 2015 on a weekday looking for some bar & grill food with two friends. There’s not much to choose from in suburban Overland Park. I just got the quesadilla. My friends got burgers. There are TVs everywhere here, which was nice for watching basketball. Not much to say here — I should probably just stock up on frozen mozzarella sticks and save myself some money if I’m looking for bar & grill food. The food was alright and the wait staff was great, but this isn’t a real vegetarian friendly place, like most bar & grills.

Wanted to sit on patio but it was very crowded. Staff seemed nice but it was very busy. Ultimate machines were very yummy and was a good size for 2 people. Inside was not much to look at, hope to get onto the patio soon.

The«sport’s bar» might be a slight misnomer, as it’s more of a patio with a bar. Other reviews will mention that parents will bring their kids, and it’s true. Coach’s is at a convenient location directly across a recreation center, so it can be a quick stop for food for parents and their kids. The patio area has misters to ward off mosquitoes, which is a nice touch. Whereas I’m personally not adverse to parents bringing their kids to a restaurant, there should be at least be a restriction on where kids can go. It’s not really a bar environment on the upper patio area if there’s up to half a dozen children running around. Sure, it’s more lucrative for business to permit families to bring their kids for a family outing, but it also detracts from the bar atmosphere that Coach’s is trying to accomplish. The food is good, but nothing too unique. They do feature a daily specials menu which has offerings that you wouldn’t normally expect at in a bar setting. I had a garden salad topped with a raspberry vinaigrette along with a SOB(South of the Border) burger. The burger was a touch well done, but I’m not too picky on that one. The salad was a decent size, though the vinaigrette was slightly too tart for my taste. All in all, a decent experience, though service from your server can be haphazard even during off hours.

This place has decent food and good daily specials, and the daily specials are a little outside what you would expect from a bar, example Grilled Cajun Chicken, Blackened skewered shrimp, chicken pot pie, etc. The upstairs patuo is amazing with its own bar, if its a nice day thats worth a stop just foe that, they have lots of tv’s and the beer is cold. all in all a good spot.
