Interesting concept. Good food. Expensive. Needs to be kept more tidy. I pulled up at 10:46 at the end of the Royals game. Only car in drive thru, 7 employees inside. Took 17 minutes to get food. Was offered a desert but I declined.

We love their chicken and fries! They have a great value and quality for the price! Not to mention their sweet tea is fantastic!

Went through the drive through and it took forever, was expensive, our food was cold, and honestly not the best flavor. We probably won’t return any time soon!

My husband and I were both famished and not in the mood to cook, so somehow we got fast food fried chicken on our minds! We tried the new Slim Chickens on 135th and we will definitely be back! We got one of the seven piece dinners and another of the five piece, with the standard french fries and Texas toast. This may be fast food, but it’s fast food done right! The chicken tenders are real, honest-to-goodness boneless breast pieces, not something pressed, formed or otherwise tortured into something resembling a chicken shape. They are lightly floured and seasoned and fried, and come out juicy and tender and tasting like(surprise!) chicken! There’s a large choice of dipping sauces. The french fries were fine — standard crispy fast food shoestring fries, and they can be substituted with other tasty-sounding options. In addition to the tenders, wings are available, and it’s possible to mix wings and tenders if you wish. We didn’t try those so I don’t know yet if they’re whole wings or drumettes, but I’ll probably try some the next time we go, which will be soon because Slim Chickens is pretty close to our humble abode. This is a welcome addition to the neighborhood — there’s no reason fast food can’t be honest and well-made, and that’s what Slim Chickens is doing, so long may it serve! Check it out; your taste buds will be happy!

Sadly, I wasn’t impressed. Which is unfortunate. I ordered a 20 piece wing for $ 20 yes, $ 20. A little pricey for what we got… soggy chicken wingettes in a not so flavorful mild greasy wing sauce. It’s hard to say if I’ll try SC again. If I do, I’ll order the wings dry or, try something else on the menu.

I wouldn’t consider Slim’s «fast food». Their made-to-order chicken strips are fantastic. My go-to is Slim’s plate, shaken in hot wing sauce, served with cayenne ranch and potato salad. Love the environment and always clean space.

I thought that it was overpriced for what I got. The three tenders basket with fries was over $ 6. The tenders were small and lightly breaded, not crispy. I’d say it was more worth $ 5.00. I got an order of fried okra and was pleased. They were tasty, crispy, and I got enough for the price. Overall, the taste was average. Not worth what I paid.

Husband and I both had tenders meals and upgraded the fries to fried pickles and fried mushrooms. The batter on both the tenders and the pickles/mushrooms was really light and crispy. No beer batter ¼″ thick coating here. I found it didn’t have much flavor and really needed the sauces. We tried the BBQ, spicy ranch, regular ranch and honey mustard. None were worth writing home about, I don’t think they make them in house. A big plus for sports fans would be the placement of the 4 big TVs, each in a corner so no matter where you sit you’ll be able to see the game.

Previous reviews are spot on. The food is just OK. I had a 10+ min wait in the drive thru for 3 great grissily tenders and barely warm fries. The Texas toast was cold and white barely qualified as toast. Don’t hurry up to eat here!

The restaurant has very good branding, which was the initial factor in deciding to try this place out for the first time. Pros: I thought the chicken was very fresh and of good quality. The breading is light and flavorful but doesn’t necessarily have much crunch, which I still liked. Sides are good. Management and staff were very friendly. They serve beer! Cons: a little more expensive than what you might expect for fast food. Additional sides a la cart are $ 2-$ 4. Instead of individual napkins they keep a roll of paper towels on the table… I understand this is part of their«southern» image but it doesn’t seem like it’s the most sanitary. Overall, I was pleased and would go again.

I love slims chicken! Fresh & Hot food! And one time they gave us free fries because we thought one of our order was suppose to have fries. Good service!

Being from South Carolina I am accustomed to a well known chicken chain known as Zaxby’s(there is one in Columbia, MO). Slims and Zaxby’s are very similar venues. Slims was a great experience, very clean, the prices are reasonable, meals included a drink. The teriyaki wings were great as well as the chicken fingers. The peach sweet tea couldn’t have been a better compliment to my meal. I was very pleased with the service, portion size and the tastes. I recommend Slims to anyone that is a Zaxby’s lover like my self it is the closest thing to it this far west.

Other chicken joints should be ashamed of themselves. Trying to charge the good people of planet earth a wing and a leg for freeze dried then re-fried chicken at their flagship locations. They should take a page out of Slim Chicken’s business plan — this is one good chicken shack that deserves recognition. It’s simple — quality ingredients, served up quickly, with friendly employees staffing your registers. Chick, chick, chick at Slim Chickens. I wanted the full experience here when I test drove some cluckers not too long ago, opting for the«Hungry Plate.» This seven piece, hand-breaded tender and one side dish was served up with two dipping sauces, a slice of Texas Toast and a drink for about $ 8 clucks. Like others have commented, the sauces tasted homemade — ranch and honey mustard were fantastic. Fries are the normal side here but you can’t upgrade to other items like fried okra(delicious), cole slaw, fried pickles, etc… There was enough on the Hungry Plate to last me for lunch the next day, a filling lot of leftovers to quench any hunger. I’m going Terminator on this place — «I’ll be back» for sure.

Wanted to try this place out since I love chicken. was not impressed. thought it was very expensive for what we got. $ 20 for 2 people at a fast food place… make sure you sit in a booth the chairs are very uncomfortable

This place opened not too long ago and you can tell they need to work out a few things. I would have rather given a 3 ½ star but think after a month or so they will be better. We got a variety of wings and tenders. The tenders are lightly breaded and on the small side but the flavor is good. I prefer the wings to be cooked a little more crispy but we liked them — we have a high tolerance for spicy and the hot was more of a medium to us. The honey barbecue were a big hit with my family! I had fried okra and would have liked that cooked a bit longer as well — a little too chewy so cooking a little longer would fix this. We all liked our dipping sauces as — I had the cayenne ranch — just barely spicy but good flavor. We used the drive thru and it took a while since they cook everything fresh so you may as well go in to order & wait. When we got home we discovered they forgot part of our order — I called & spoke to the manager on duty — he was very apologetic and said he would email me.

This new location of Slim Chickens in Overland Park is in a new plaza jointly located with Coach’s bar and grill. They serve Tenders & Wings, Salads, Chicken and waffles, 3 wraps & a sandwich with dipping and wing sauce options. Everything comes with a medium drink and fries which can be substituted for mac & cheese, coleslaw, potato salad, fried okra, fried pickles, fried mushrooms, along with 2 dessert offerings to offer customers a variety to choose from. First off, walking into the restaurant it reminded me of walking into an InNOut burger joint where the menus were up on the wall as you walk through 2 double doors, restrooms to the right and drinks to the left of the cashier. You walk up and order, grab your drinks, and pick a table to your left. The major difference is you bring a number with you and a Server delivers your food.(so this part reminded me of ChickAFilA style of serving). The food was fresh and hot when it arrived at the table I had to wait for the fried mushrooms to cool a bit or I’d keep burning my tongue. Tenders — juicy what I believe might have been all white meat chicken flaked perfectly and fried. I pulled a piece off and it ripped up to the perfect tear, to dip into their sauce of your choice. The sweet and sour sauce was the red Asian sweet and sour that you dip egg rolls in. The honey mustard and ranch were traditional and always good with chicken. The honey bbq sauce I have to say has a kick to it even though it wasn’t the spicy bbq which I wondered if I accidentally got the wrong one, but friends told me the spicy was different. Hubby got the wings tossed in Teriyaki, and although it was tasty I wouldn’t get my wings tossed in sauce anymore I rather dip and control how much sauce is on my chicken since getting it tossed it was fairly saucy and killed it for me. Fries are fresh cut french fries seasoned well, but the fried mushrooms were so yummy I would be substituting my fries from now on. Fried okra had the crunch you expect and want in your fried food and it was so much better than what you would find at Churchs chicken. My friend got a bbq wrap and although still tasty, it was rolled pretty slim and I felt like maybe there were 1 – 2 tenders inside. The tenders meal would be more fulfilling from the looks and the one bite I tried. An ABSOLUTEMUSTDO: get a jarred dessert. Need I say more? A jarred dessert is whatever they serve that day but is in a logo Mason jar you get to take home if you don’t finish. That day they offered strawberry shortcake and a chocolate brownie. I have to say being a chocoholic I went for the chocolate and my hubby strawberry. Of course I tried both and although I love chocolate between the 2 I enjoyed the strawberry more. Why? The first few bites of the chocolate were yummy, it was whipped cream then brownie bites and chocolate pudding parfait with toffee crunch, what more can you ask for. I felt the pudding was ok, and when I got to the bottom all I had left was the semi dry cake like brownie bites with nothing else left to offset the dry. The strawberry shortcake on the other hand had the similar issue of the cheesecake on the bottom but the fresh cut strawberries and the mixture was just heavenly first few bites. Summary: Good food, a little on the pricier side for fast food but I believe they are trying to be a more quick service restaurant. Get tenders, fried mushrooms and a jarred dessert!

I specifically asked if I would be charged an extra side of sauce if I got my wings plain with the sauce on the side instead of the sauce on the wings(I’ve been the locations in Fayetteville so I know they charge for extra sauce). She told me she would ask and came back and said I could have the wings in a sauce and 2 dipping sauces. After that I repeatedly stated that I didn’t want the sauce on the side if I had to pay for an extra sauce. I didn’t want extra sauce, I just wanted the sauce that would be on the wings on the side so my kids can eat the plain wings and I could have sauce. I stated which 2 dipping sauces I wanted and which sauce I wanted for my wings. I had to repeat this a few different ways until she finally got it. We pull up to the window and they say the 2 sauces with a side sauce. I sigh and she repeats it the way I ordered it. Then when it comes time to pay I hand her my card. She comes back and states that it has been declined. I’ve been having issues with my card swiping so I ask her to try entering it manually. She tells me she did and each time it has declined with a smirk on her face. We hand her another card to pay and leave. I look at the receipt and of course see the charge for the extra side of sauce. I feel silly going back to complain about 0.29(which I know isn’t a big deal but its the principal!) and I’m on the phone with my credit card company so we leave. I tell them about the issue and they tell me that they do see the decline but it was because an invalid expiration date was entered. So yeah overall my experiences at Slim Chickens have never been pleasant. Now as far as the food goes, its pretty decent. We ordered the 5&5 plate and chicken & waffle. Dipping sauces we tried were the slim’s sauce, gravy and mango habanero. I wasn’t too impressed with any of the sauces. The chicken and tenders are just mediocre. I did enjoy the toast and the waffle. They both had a great flavor.

Very good food. Chicken tenders were hot and delicious. Fried pickles were crispy and very tasty. Big props for great ice(you know the kind…) and really great tasting tea! Price is a tad higher than fast food but a clear upgrade. I would choose this over chili’s or Applebee’s. Four big tvs also.

Everything tasted great, but the prices were a touch high for fast food if you have a big appetite. I got the buffalo chicken wrap and it was tasty and not too spicy, but predictably a bit messy. The chicken was well seasoned and the breading was not overdone. The honey mustard and ranch sauces both seemed homemade and were outstanding. Fries were done right — crispy and not greasy whatsoever. Definitely worth checking out. I hope they open a location in Olathe. Also, there is an outdoor patio as well as a drive-thru.

My «Chicks Plate» included three tenders, toast, one side, dipping sauce, and a drink for $ 6.99. My order was ready in about four minutes. The chicken was reminiscent of KFC original recipe, but with less seasoning, and the tender size was smaller than I expected. The cole slaw was nice, and creamy. The service on opening day was friendly, and attentive, with southern-style music playing in the clean, new dining area.
