BEDBUGS! We checked in and went up to inspect the room. We always preform this routine prior to bringing our belongings into a hotel room. We read years ago inspect a room first. This includes pulling the mattress pad up and inspect on, under and around the mattress and the seams of it. Carefully looking for the bugs or their fecal matter(digested blood specks). Also around headboard and behind pictures and any other nooks or crevices around the bed. This was the first time we have ever had a positive hit. There was one of the buggers crawling up the side of the mattress. I took a couple of pictures of it and a video and went back down to the front desk and showed the clerk. I told him we were checking back out. The sad part is he acted a little surprised by my find but not overly surprised or shocked as I would have expected. I wonder if he has had similar claims in the past. Anyhow, YUK! And by the way, the ridden room was #224.

All I needed for this 4-night stay was a comfortable bed and a shower. That’s what I got. The owner/managers are curt, expressionless, and clearly unhappy. Don’t think about the«continental breakfast,» unless you’re into danish and dry cereal. If I cared about any of these«extras,» I never would have stayed here. As it was, I got what I needed at a great price. Just don’t expect more.

I voluntarily booked the Days Inn in Overland Park for 2 nights in May 2014 via . Had I had known about this specific property, I probably would have looked at other places within the Overland Park area. Still, it was a good location for me and the experience here was positive, good, but mixed. Mixed due to the fact that it felt like this property was rebranded into a Days Inn. My suspicions were confirmed when I saw the room itself and the signage that had Motel 6 and Days Inn together. I put two and two together and sure enough. The building and the room was pretty much identical to what Motel 6 is like. And it was just a bit disturbing. The only difference was that of the bed. The bed was definitely upgraded to Days Inn standards, but other than that, it had that Motel 6 feel to it. The ambiance of the room reminds me of this, as well as the price paid per night. I paid roughly $ 100 for 2 nights, which ain’t bad at all, but I probably would have looked at other options, since it ain’t the usual Days Inn standards — at least in my experience with them. Needless to say, the check in and out process was okay. I used the Priceline’s «Pay when you stay» option, where you can book without being charged at time of booking. They accept all major credit cards, so that was comforting. This Days Inn location is at 6800108th Street in Overland Park, KS. Right off of the I-435 at exit 79 on Metcalf Avenue. Only thing was that you turn right at the gas station at 107th street, which is Frontage Road. Snake down that road, which eventually turns to 108th Street. I had a problem finding this place at first! With that said, there is private parking here for guests, which is good and they have an ice machine and a vending machine in the common area. The room itself, as described before, resembles a Motel 6 mockup. Only real difference is of the King bed, which I was given. There was a large television, microwave and a mini fridge as well. The microwave didn’t seem to work, as there was no available plugs next where it was. I was given room #114 for my stay. Perfect on the first floor, so I don’t need to go up stairs. The service here is okay. Getting in and out is basically what I really needed, as well as a good room rate. The bed was comfortable and felt relatively safe. That was the redeeming quality of this converted Motel 6. Still, if anyone wants to come here on their travels to Overland Park, KS& the Kansas City vicinity. Recommended if you don’t mind the Motel 6 thing. Cheap room rates! Support local! B–

Just noticed that I totally forgot to finish this review, probably because I’ve been trying to forget about this hotel. It was awful. Our room was dark and dingy. Housekeeping was indifferent at best, neglectful at worst. I am pretty sure our room wasn’t vacuumed once during our stay of six days. However, the maids were plenty happy to start their rounds at 9:30 am, and even tried to enter the room while we were in it. Also, I should have asked what the breakfast buffet hours were before we booked, because I was surprised and very annoyed that it was only open from 5:30 — 8:30 am. The only good thing about this hotel was that it was really cheap. And now I know why. There are several other much better looking hotels right nearby, so choose one of those instead!

I’m not sure if my room was a crime scene at some point but there was some interesting stains on the carpet, TV and walls. The cleaning staff definitely did the best the could with what they were dealing with. But I did sleep with a chair against the door.

This is the WORST hotel I’ve ever stayed in. There was a dead roach on the floor, a strange white powder on the carpet, a pillow was stained with what looked like blood, the TV did not work, and the ice machine was broken. It was clear that the hotel was not fully-occupied, but still, they would not switch my room. I slept on top of clothes because I was scared to touch the sheets. This hotel gives Days Inn a terrible name.
