Walked in for a solo dinner and really didn’t want to do the whole buffet thing. I was about to leave when the receptionist told me about their bar menu. The bar is a really nice circular room/bar thats great for tv watching, which is what I prefer when flying solo. I had a dish that was a variety of well prepared meats with a side salad and fried polenta. The meal was good and could have been great but for the temperature. Got to keep it hot guys! I will try them again on my next trip to KC.

What a lovely place! We just had our very first meal here with(3) generations of family celebrating a HS graduation. It was fabulous. The food was all wonderful, especially the many different meats brought to the table. Amazing! The staff was very helpful and truly acted like they were happy to have us there. They even brought out a little celebratory dessert for the graduate. We will most definitely return! Congratulations on a wonderful restaurant. I wish you much success!

We came her on Mother’s day but not for mother’s day. It was not planned, it was just dinner time and we decided to go here. It wasn’t too crazy busy. We got waited on right away. This place is cool because it’s a nice place but there are people dressed nice in there and people who weren’t. It didn’t feel pretentious at all. And the tables were set up awesome, there was no tight spaces you had to try to squeeze through. I went to the Salad bar and it’s a little different from Fogo de Chao(that’s what I compare all Brazilian steak houses too because that was my first one.) They had a cold side and a warm side. I love beets so the beets were good! The smoked salmon was excellent, I had the creamy potatoes from the warm side that was good. They had this coconut fish soup thing, it was amazing. It tasted like a curry, not spicy though. I also had this rice thing w/steak in it, that was good too! I like all the meats I tried, I especially liked the filet mignon, rib eye, and lamb chops. Now the staff, our waiter was so slow, but everyone else picked up his slack. I he didn’t bring anything out quickly, we basically had to ask for everything… like our plates when we got there. And through out the night, he kinda checked on us I guess. But everyone else was friendly. They’d stop and answered my questions if I had one, a girl stopped and talked to my kids. Like dessert for example. I had to ask my waiter for a dessert menu, he basically dropped it off and didn’t explain anything… after about 10 mins of waiting I asked a guy who was cleaning our table, he answered some questions, I took my daughter to the bathroom, came back and sat for another 5 mins, then the waiter came back and said, oh were you ready to order dessert? Um yes, like 30 mins ago… I got tres leches and kids got ice cream… all was very good!!!

Great food and service — was very satisfied. I should have skipped lunch though with the huge selection — there were a bunch of items I didn’t try simply because I had already eaten so much. I guess that’s a good sign though. Love having a real Brazilian steak house local to Overland Park!

This was our second visit, and although I wouldn’t have believed it, I think this trip was even better than the first. Listing the great items is really rather pointless, everything we tried was superb. Even the least impressive of the meats, the ribs(it’s difficult to apply that phrase, but it’s technically accurate) were still a very tasty treat. The only reason I can call it «least impressive» is that ribs pretty much require the use of fingers to eat them, and that just feels a bit wrong for such an atmosphere. The meat assortment differed a bit between the two visits, although I’m honestly not sure how much was a changed menu and how much was just an unwillingness to wait for the next server(we filled up fast this time). I know there were a couple of cuts this trip that simply weren’t there last time. The Harvest bar is very good, although it lacks a seafood salad that has been a regular item at other Brazilian steakhouses. The sides brought to the table were a match for any I’ve had anywhere. The desserts are equally delightful, from the crème brûlée to the Brazilian flan, to the molten chocolate cake. As some others have mentioned, the bartender(s) here are amazing. The Raspberry Espresso Martini is so well balanced between the flavors that it’s really easy to overlook the amount of alcohol in them… until you stand up. The service might have been just a bit rocky at times when they opened, but now the place runs as smooth as silk. Even a slightly confused look will get almost immediate attention from one of the many staff. And everyone is happy, friendly, and absolutely determined to make your evening a complete success. Bottom line, it might be a bit pricey, but the value is there to justify it. It’s going to be a regular on our restaurant circuit.

My first time ever at a Brazilian steakhouse! Regardless of the type of restaurant, best service I’ve ever had. I felt like royalty the entire time. My glass was never empty, I didn’t even have to pull out or push in my own chair, my plate was full of food, it was amazing! We were there close to closing and one of the items was close to empty, asked if they could bring out some more. A few moments later it was out. No attitude, no excuses, just great service. Based on the food, the service and the staff, this place is a five and I can’t wait to come back!

We attended this newer restaurant on Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, this restaurants customer service and attention to detail is subpar to other fine dining establishments in Johnson County. I’m not sure if it was incredibly poor service as result of it being Valentine’s Day but several table requests appeared to go to deaf ears. The variety of meat served appeared to come out only when large groups were present. The salad bar and other cold appetizers were presentable and desirable. Although they provided a buy one get one free if used within 30 days, I will not go back even if the coupon were for 365 days. If you want Brazilian steakhouse, even though more of a drive, I would go to Em Chamas or Fogos on the plaza. The price is the same but service and selection is way better!

My wife and I had dinner here on Valentine’s Day. I was looking forward to this from all the stellar reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. The service was excellent, the food was very good. Now I don’t have to drive all the way down to the plaza to get my meat fix. I will be back, again and again and again.

YES I am going 5 stars on this one which I rarely use! The food is outstanding! Service is great! Glass never past half full, meat coming by so often it was overwhelming! Harvest bar what a great selection and great presentation! It was $ 100 bucks for 2 people without drinks but was well worth it! GO hungry because it is meat over load! Great food, great service and atmosphere is very nice!

So so good! I’ve been to Fogo in multiple locations. Esperito is every bit as good, and in my opinion better. The garlic steak, bacon wrapped filet and house special are amazing. Try everything! The salad bar is fantastic, but the meat is the real story at Espirito. Give it a try and shoot me a thank you…

My husband and I came here for our anniversary and the food was to die for. Meat was cooked to perfection, the salad bar and side options were fresh and flavorful. You must try the KC specialty drink… Unreal! The owners understand what it takes to run a successful establishment. My only shocker was how some people eating there were dressed… come on JoCo sweats to a Brazilian Steakhouse? Get some class. We will back!

Ended up here on a fluke and it was like finding a winning lottery ticket. Hands down best bartenders in the city. Organic drinks, top notch service, impressive harvest table(The salad bar had everything from fresh salmon to perfectly cooked asparagus and wonderful one-of-a-kind items like the pickled onions in balsamic and gorgeous artichoke hearts.) There was a wonderful array of meat cooked perfectly that the gauchos provided endlessly and my personal favorite was the Chilean Seabass, definitely the best in the city. Look out Kansas City because this restaurant is going to stomp all over you.

Excellent selection and salad/buffet bar. Our favorites as with most Brazilian restaurants were the garlic steak, picana, and the filet mignon. Don’t forget to grab a caipirinha to drink but make sure you check the menu first or else they’ll select the more expensive options!

Came in at 4:50. Got seated right away. They explained how the cold bar, hot bar worked and how the meat card worked. After returning to our table I was suggested the Brazilian Caipirinha, reminded me of a margarita, I also ordered the passion fruit drink, very sweet. My boyfriend dropped his fork, when he went to retrieve it he dropped his knife as well. The service went into action right away. One took the dirty silverware and replaced it with silverware from an empty table next to us and the other brought new to replace what he took. Less than 30 seconds and all was well again. We counted and we tried thirteen of the seventeen meats they were serving. All very good. And I found out I don’t care for rack of lamb. After finishing eating our meal. We looked at the dessert menu and unsure what sounded the best we referred to by another server to try the Papaya Cream. It was okay, but then he came back with a crème de cassis, which really made it different and much more enjoyable. My boyfriend ordered a coffee to complete his meal, the Italian coffee, which he enjoyed. End of the night I would say I would do it again, but probably limit the drinks and no dessert to lower it back down. But it was worth it and can’t wait to bring some friends with us next time.

First timers going to a Brazilian Steakhouse, and oh man, it was an awesome eating experience!!! From the delectable«harvest» bar which contains salad fixings, cheese, charcuterie, and all the delicious sides and snacks. Then comes all the beef, pork, chicken, lamb, etc. you can imagine. You can tell them if you want well done, medium or rare. My favorite meat was the sirloin. It was tender and juicy. We also got a pitcher of the white sangria, and this stuff is soooo good. All in all, a very pleasant, enjoyable, delicious experience. Everyone, from our server, to the waiters coming around with the meat, were absolutely great to work with and were very polite.

Happy, happy, happy to finally have a good Brazilian churrascaria and restaurant in JoCo! After spending many years traveling and living in Brazil, the scarcity of Brazilian places in Kansas City has always been a big disappointment. Fortunately, though, we now have some Brazilian eateries scattered around the metro, and now it’s JoCo’s turn! Espirito do Sul occupies the former Elephant Walk space at 119th and Metcalf. It couldn’t be more centrally or visibly located! The interior has been completely redone and now looks like a good, upscale churrascaria in Brazil. The restaurant just opened recently and the dining room still looks slightly bare, but the friendly owner said that a couple of photo montages they’d ordered should be arriving in the next week or so to help brighten up a couple of large blank walls. Otherwise, it’s very attractive and comfortable, and the bar area is extremely appealing and welcoming. A New Year’s Day rodizio(all you can eat) lunch seemed like a perfect way to launch 2016 and Espirito do Sul conveniently was open! We were seated immediately and the restaurant kept filling as we were dining. The main restaurant operates like any Brazilian churrascaria rodizio. If you’ve been to Fogo do Chão or Em Chamas you already know the drill. After you sit down and order your drinks, you’re invited to partake of the hot and cold buffet, with an extensive selection of goodies. The cold table has a wide variety of salads, cheeses and cold cuts. The hot table has a varying selection of typical Brazilian dishes. Today it included feijoada, the national bean stew, and Bahian fish in coconut milk, as well as items that can accompany the meat to come, like rice and beans and Brazilian style sauteed kale. When you’re finished with your first course from the buffet, you can flip the red/green marker on your table and waiters will start coming to offer you what seems like an endless parade of meats on skewers, which are sliced at your table. Today there were 17 different meat offerings, ranging from the signature Brazilian cut, picanha(part of the top sirloin) to bacon-wrapped fillet mignon to various kinds of chicken, ribs, parmesan-crusted pork, and lamb chops. It was all well-cooked and not overly salty, one of the potential dangers of meat prepared in this style, cooked over open flame and basted only with brine. Delicious cheese bread, garlic mashed potatoes and fried bananas are brought to your table automatically as sides. My husband(who is Brazilian) had a refreshing strawberry caipirinha, later followed by a beer from the well-chosen beer selection. After letting everything settle for a bit we split a Papaya Crème for dessert(it’s a very popular dessert in Brazil, basically a papaya mousse drizzled with crème de cassis) and some good coffee. While we were eating we saw other diners having guaraná, Brazil’s national soft drink — a refreshing, fruit-flavored soda made with an Amazonian berry that’s reminiscent of ginger ale. If I had known they had it, I would have ordered it. Now I know for next time! For the lunch rodizio, the price is $ 27.50(drinks and dessert are extra). At dinner it’s $ 44.00. The great news is that Espírito do Sul also offers the buffets, alone, at a reduced price, and many of their offerings are also available in the bar on a very reasonably priced menu as individual plates. So if you just aren’t hungry enough for a full churrasco feed, or wish to spend less, the bar menu is definitely a terrific option. There’s also a shorter happy hour menu at the bar that offers several of these meals at even cheaper prices. How great is that? The bar seems to be well-stocked and can make authentic, traditional caipirinhas(the Brazilian national cocktail of limes muddled with sugar and cachaça and ice added to fill a highball glass). They’re refreshing as all get out and very dangerous! The bar can also make more modern fruit caipirinhas, like strawberry. Just ask! In Brazil some favorites are kiwi, blackberry, and passion fruit. Service was very friendly and attentive. There were a few minor slips, which we expected in a new restaurant, but it seems like a well-run operation and any flaws will undoubtedly be quickly fixed. So here it is, folks — your chance to get your Brazilian on has finally arrived in the southern part of the metro, and it turns out to have been worth the wait! Espírito do Sul should be with us for a long, long time! Parabens, Espírito do Sul, e bem vindos a Johnson County! Faziam falta!

Fabulous Happy Hour! The hubby and I recently visited for Happy Hour and were incredibly pleased. First, Adrian is an amazing bartender who is clearly going to make a name for himself with his amazing concoctions. He shared with us that he experimented with making house-made bitters until through trial and error, he came up with an amazing product. He showed it to us and I can tell you that it smelled amazing! Very cool! The hubby and I shared some amazing roja sangria that was flavorful and chock-full of fruit. I would order it again and again. We also ordered grilled shrimp and a meat plate. When the meat plate came out, we were disappointed to see a couple of the items were sprinkled with parmesan, but my hubby has a dairly allergy. We were going to just work around the issue divvying up the food we’d ordered according to what he could eat, but to our surprise, Adrian brought extra pieces without parmesan for my hubby. How great is that? I can tell that Espirito is going to be a place that we visit again and again. Who knows? We might actually show up for dinner some time! P. S. The cheesy bread is out of this world! YUM!

I have been twice and they have only been open a week and a half — that should tell you something. I have been to several Brazilian restaurants, including others in KC, and this is the best. Everything has just the right amount of flavor, not too strong or too bland, including the Campirinha. Ate the normal churrasco service the first time, tried the cheaper bar menu the second time, everything was excellent and the service is flawless. We have spoken to the owners 4 times in 2 visits because they stopped by to make sure everything is going ok. It’s my new favorite restaurant, bar none. The only thing that would make it better would be if it was free. :) It is a bit pricey but it is definitely worth it.
