I have not ordered a lot of food here. I come and drink coffee or tea when they have music. You should too. Fun atmosphere! The occasional dessert I have had was good. Hurry and come hear music before they close forever in early October.

Great ambience. Laid back, plays live music or things like Johnny Cash. Well made food. Crispy bacon on the BLT and just toasted bread. Even the bathroom is adorable. Good iced tea. Cute sayings and signs everywhere.

Not my idea of a café breakfast. Extremely limited menu. Overpriced and small servings. First and only visit here.

A great place to grab a vegetarian lunch. They have several veggie options such as a hummus sandwich and vegetarian soup. Coffee, espresso, latte available with almond milk for a $ 0.50 charge. Not the cleanest joint, but passable.

Great food, bands and sangria. Very well priced. Enjoy the bands on Friday nights. Sangria pitchers are a must order.

Excellent food! Friendly and real people all around. After reading these other reviews, I get it that some folks don’t dig art or music(and this place has a lot of both!) but it is true to say that these people are authentic, there is a sincere and unique scene here, the food is great and the positive vibe is a welcome breath in this crazy world!

Darling little café right next to the Overland Park Farmer’s Market. Great for grabbing a quick lunch after shopping. The food is fresh and pretty good. It’s pricey though — $ 10 for a cold sandwich and a very small portion of pasta salad.

I love this place! The eggplant sandwich and the Mac and cheese are both incredible!(I like to add onions to the Mac and cheese.) It’s a very cute café. The only thing I don’t love is when they have a musician there, it’s very loud. I love hearing local musicians but I also want to be able to have a conversation with my friends. Besides that, it’s a great place to eat! I highly recommend it.

So close to five stars… alas I ordered no cheese and I got cheese. Not such a big deal for most… but I have no self control. If it’s there I will eat it and I will be super sick for it. That blood is on their hands. Anyway… Good sandwiches. They offer Udi’s GF bread for and extra charge. They have a sandwich special which is a personal concoction of the one of the employees. They have a print off of pix of the employees and a choice hobby /interest entitled«Why we need tips». The sandwiches have lil fortune cookie/good day sayings tagged onto them. Very cute — big smiles for that. Sangria and Bloody Marys. Live music that looked to be starting around noon. Nice employees. Good tea. Outdoor seating looked to be quite nice… a lil cold that day though. Bright, happy colors. Purchasable art. I liked it… a lot.

I wandered into Great Day Café last week to listen to my friend’s band(local music, yo!), ordered a chai latte(ok, and a cookie, too) and plopped down in the middle of the community table. A nice, engaging gentleman(turns out to be the owner), challenged me to help put together a jigsaw puzzle. Challenge accepted. Live music, good chai, friendly atmosphere. I was impressed. If you want to take a minute to enjoy the simple things in life, head to Great Day, get a coffee, and relax. Get lost in the music, work on a puzzle or eat something comforting. You won’t regret it.

AMAZING! When my daughter was 15 she stumbled across the Great Day Café and found they had an open mic night. She went several times and everyone there was EXTREMELY encouraging and loving. Some of the staff and customers even gave her requested songs to learn and play the next week. We as a society are lacking the kind of loving and encouraging people that run this business and promote the arts in this way! The Great Day Café is a rare find of very special people that create a much needed, and excellent environment! The food and drinks are awesome too!

Very nice stop after our first visit to the OP Farmer’s Market. Friendly family place that serves a variety of on-site prepared food items including baked goods. Music is familiar and easy listening – sometimes provided by one of the proprietors, sometimes by guest musicians. From the changing of the crowd on our visit, the next musician tailored to children, as just before 2pm on Saturday, the crowd of families converged. Nice place good food and surprises! They serve ‘adult beverages’! The back of the food menu displays liquor, beer and wine choices. The $ 4.50 glass of chardonnay was both ample and tasty. We will be back!

When you’re having a down day just come to the Great Day Café for a shot of cheer and good food. We came in on a Friday around lunchtime to find the owner playing a bevy of instruments to entertain a number of tables who stayed until well after lunch chatting cheerfully and enjoying delicious looking food. This guys loves his restaurant and loves his employees. You can’t help but smile here. They have gluten free bread and some deserts and a great little shaded patio.

Update from previous review… I recently received a very nice message from the café’s owner, which enlightened me to the fact that the café did at one point do earlier breakfasts, but that they have significant on-site constraints, and it was too stressful and costly to continue that model. and most interestingly, they also pay their staff above the industry standard in the interest of providing a more liveable wage for food service workers, which I can certainly respect. I do recognize that when businesses go out on a limb to increase the quality of life for their workers, the result is that costs to the consumer will go up. It’s good to know a reason why… as noted above, the food is very good, and it was nice to get an insight into the business from the owner.

Here’s the headlines — Overpriced /Food was pretty good /Service was okay /I’ll look for another place to eat I went here based on positive Unilocal reviews, but I was disappointed. I had the quiche which was tasty. However, the waiter brought me two coffees when I only ordered one. The rest of my crew had sandwiches, pie and a salad. The food really was pretty good, however, the price of the whole meal was pricey. I don’t mind paying that much, but the food better blow me away. Not so much here, so I’ll find another place to eat in downtown Overland Park, Kansas next time.

I like this place. I get coffee there at least once a week, sometimes I take desserts home. Everything I’ve had has been good or better. The staff is friendly. The only thing that bothers me is that it’s not open earlier during farmer’s market. The other day they weren’t opened, so I got iced coffee at the food truck, who failed to tell me their iced coffee had cream and sugar added already! I had to throw it away after 1 drink. However, this place has had a crowd lately, so I wish them the best. The iced tea and chocolate tarts/cakes are delicious!

I do believe its impossible to come here and not be happy! Everything is bright and cheerful and reminds you of the perfect summer time day, They serve Upper Crust Pie — which is the BEST, most glorious pie ever. Really, it is. I paired my peach pie with a hot loose leaf chai and loved every second of it. I sat there for about 30 minutes perfectly content with my surroundings and my awesome mid-afternoon snack. A great place to feel comfortable hanging out by yourself.

My friend and I wanted to have lunch in Overland Park. So we chose Great Day Café. The limited menu offers panini’s, sandwiches, spring rolls, sides, all with a healthy flair. We ordered. Panini’s are 9.38, and you get a side, the choice is interesting in sides. I chose the quinoa. Then you are given a table marker with words like«Relaxed» or «rowdy.» You find a table, which can be difficult. When we were there, musicians were playing folksy, soft jazz. It made for an interesting background, but not so loud you can’t talk. Our food arrived, and it was delicious. I had the portabelo panini, and it was everything I thought it would be. A sliced portabelo mushroom, cheese, red peppers and other ingredients, warmed on asiago bread. Childfen of the party next to me(who I just happened to know), played with hugging salt and pepper shakers. You may have to look for those. But do look for them. The atmosphere is hipster or green. Green as in a near catchy vegan restaurant or hipster like aura with tunes in the background. Personally I love this place, cause there’s no other restaurant like this in Kansas City. I’m drawn to locations like this. It feels good to eat here.

I was looking for a spot in northern OP to grab lunch with Grandma(Meme) and my college-age son. Meme’s a big fan of Wendy’s but I really wanted to eat something real, and since I was driving, I chose Great Day Café. There was plenty of seating for our little group when we arrived for a late lunch. I love the casual atmosphere of the place. I ordered at the counter for us: the kid and I each had different panini’s(roasted chicken asaigo, and black forrest ham and swiss respectively), Meme the tuna salad on wheat. I had an iced tea, a chai latte for the kid and Meme stuck with water. The kid’s chai must have been really good, I didn’t get so much as a sip. My iced tea was something a little fruity, really yummy. I’m not even ashamed to say that I refilled my cup 3 times. Food arrived shortly, the sandwiches are big and the paninis served hot from the press. I had a side of the quinoa tabouli, it was tangy and crispy and just fantastic. The kid’s sandwich was inhaled… he loved it. Meme could only eat half of her tuna but made sure I got her a box so she could have the rest of it later. My ham and swiss came with tangy French mustard and was served on fresh bread… oh so good! I too could only eat half but I was excited to finish it the next day. I wish Great Day much success, hope you guys are around for a nice long time so we can go back again and again.

I walk in at 1:15PM for lunch. There is one table with people at it and they already have their food. I order a Rueben with the pasta salad. 20 minutes later I get my food! Really? 20 minutes to throw some meat and kraut on some bread and toast it? I’ll never go here if there’s actually anyone else waiting. The sandwhich was OK, not nearly enough meat especially for what it costs. I’m not hip enough to eat here again.
