Oh how I wish there were other fabric stores in this town! It’s not due to their selection but instead due to service. I can probably count on one hand how many times there hasn’t been a long line to get fabric cut, and I’m here at least 1 – 2 a month. HIREMOREFABRICCUTTERS! I absolutely hate that I typically have to wait 20 minutes to get fabric cut. Then you have to wait again at the checkout. It’s an incredibly frustrating shopping experience. Unfortunately they has the broadest selection of fabrics and crafts in one place so I always end up here again. I think I’m going to start going to hobby lobby in the future. On a good note, they have terrific sales. Just be prepared to wait awhile to make your purchase.

I don’t know why I don’t shop at JoAnn more often; perhaps it’s habit, perhaps I just forget it’s here. For what I need, JoAnn is a bigger, better version of the Michaels /Hobby Lobby in the same area, minus all the complaints I have about those two stores. I’m planning on shopping here more so I can comment on value, but as far as I can tell, it seems on par with the other two brands. They have coupons in the Sunday paper frequently, and they also accept competitor coupons. The registers move quickly, and their line is set up to make checkout easy — a major plus in my book. I mentioned it’s a bigger version of my usual craft store — this store is huge! They have a large selection of fabric, which is the first thing I think of when I think of JoAnn. I wish I could comment on the quality and pricing on their fabrics, but sadly I don’t sew. I haven’t tried any of the classes, but they do offer a range of 101s, from sewing /quilting to knitting & crocheting to cake decorating. They also carry framing, floral, arts & crafts, value aisle, holiday, home décor, etc — there have been a couple times I have gone to Michaels looking for something, not found it, and been able to pick it up here at JoAnn. I plan on making this my first stop for my crafting needs from now on – this is a new shopping«habit» I need to make.

I had a really incredible experience at this store. A woman working at the fabric counter helped me to fix something that I was having a ton of issues with! She spent a lot of time with me and really tried to make sure that I was completely satisfied! A+++++ Oh and if you print a coupon online you can use it per each item you purchase. They offer 40 – 50 percent off! FUNSTORE!

Decent selection, but the whole place just seems a little dated & run-down. I also experienced the ultra-slow checkout lines. Probably not going to turn into my favorite craft store.

This shop is amazing. The store in Independence fits in this store. I visit this store when the Independence store doesn’t have what I want. The yarn selection is about the same, but the rest of the selection is a crafting delight. The lay out is large, and sometimes I have to look to really find things, but I can always find a staff member to help me. As for cake supplies, they have so much more than the store in Independence. And if they don’t have it, Sweet Shoppe is down College Blvd a bit, and Michaels is over on 120th. The scrapbook are has the up and coming equipment. They even have the new Circuit printer prominently displayed. That’s just one of the printers they have tons more printers. The scrapbook paper selection is colorful and lively. The bead aisles are stocked, and full of variety. Literally you can come out of this store with enough supplies to make something when you get home. When entering this store, they have their class schedule displayed on a large board. That is nice, then you don’t have to take the time to privately ask someone when a class is going to be. The fabric is devine. I can’t think of too much I dislike about this store, except it’s not closer to my house. The parking lot is weird, but that’s structural. This store ROCKS my world.

Sad to hear that this place doesn’t do it for some people. I love me some craft stores, so I REALLY love me some craft stores on steroids. This location has all of the essentials that you can find at any Michael’s and Hobby Lobby stores, but with more variety and stock. My favorites include: TONS of beading supplies LOTS of great scrapbooking stuff, including paper pads :) YUMMY cake making supplies, with an extra-large dose of candy making supplies GREAT sales, especially after holidays :) Home décor and what not… And, of yeah, FABRIC, buttons, sewing machines, etc. This store is clean with lots of parking and in a great location. Etc = Experience the Creativity, Everything Crafty, etc?

I am an artist and once in a while I get involved in a project that requires something above and beyond an art store. I hold my breath and walk into this place. Nothing like wasting my time behind a blue-hair as she dicks around with coupons and price checks. It’s not just the customers that c**k block your day, but the staff is also running at half speed. It is like watching one of those«Hoarder» shows in slow motion. On my last visit I returned some Christmas ribbon. I had already checked to make sure it was within the 90 days time period. The old lady says, «you can’t have a refund because this item is seasonal.» I point out that this is not stated anywhere on the back of the receipt and I am within the 90 days. «Well, that’s an old receipt, the new one says no returns on seasonal.» I say that however old it is, it was printed within the last 90 days and I want a refund. She says, «Fine! I will just have to throw the ribbon away because we can’t sell it!» Sounds like a store issue, not my issue. Just for the record, my «Christmas» ribbon was teal. She gives me back my cash with a side dish of attitude. This store tests my patience in every way.

I’m not what one would call a crafter, but I pride myself on being able to sew and with being comfortable around a variety of art and craft supplies. This means that generally I enjoy going to craft stores as I like to browse the fabric selections, look at the decorative papers, and dream of all the things I wish I had time to make. This store, however, sucks all of that creative impulse out of you. Their fabric selection is mediocre, I would say dated and stuffy, and the staff is slow and unprofessional. Who ever heard of having to take a number and get called back to have fabric cut for you? The lighting is utilitarian, and the store generally feels lifeless. It is also huge, so finding specific things can take a few minutes. The lines at the checkout are completely awful. We must have waited over ten minutes to check out. If I hadn’t invested so much time to that point, I would have walked away. Next time I’ll probably find my fabrics and craft supplies elsewhere.

I am a knitter and I sew, I like to think of myself as a crafty girl, but this store just takes it out of me. They do have a wondrous selection of fabrics and pretty well priced, but the people cutting the fabric can’t cut it straight, it makes it frustrating to sew and cut a pattern on a skewed cut. You also have to wait forever to get the fabric cut. The yarn selection is blah, the needle selection is worse, they do have Paton’s Classic wool but that is all that ever interest me in that section. I can never find the needles I need either. They seem to have mostly 8, 9, and 10’s in everything. The check out line is always long and Every time they ask me if I’m on the their mailing list, I have tried several times to be on their mailing list but I am never on it to receive my coupons in the mail. This is a good place if you need zippers, or a good quality cheap pillow, or maybe some thread but other than that it’s a pretty frustrating experience.

The store is honestly a little bit overwhelming for me, as I’m sort of an amateur when it comes to being crafty. That said, it pretty much saved my life when I had to get a bridesmaid dress altered in a hurry for a wedding. The tailor my family typically goes to sent me on a hunt to select fabric that would match the black satin dress so we could make a few alterations. With 30 minutes in Jo-Ann’s and a little help from some of the staff, I walked away pretty satisfied with our choice. The lines were a little long and I could have done with a little bit more service for the staff, but at the end of the day I got what I needed and my best friend didn’t scream at me for weight gain before her wedding.

crafty crafty crafty! everything from candlemaking to jewelry making and wood projects. They had nice ribbon for centerpieces(very good selection). The people working there are nice but most of them look really tired.
